This is my new project!!! I know the P47 hasn't flown yet but L.T. got this for me I just had to start it and the weather will be better soon....I think.....!

I Hope it is ok to do another one of my projects on here, The last had over 5000 hits so I am guessing. If you have any objections please let me know and I will take it down.

The paint will look like sorta like this plane from the Essex where My Dad was stationed as a Navy pilot.

Started the tail today, and I will post pictures when I get some of the bigger pieces together. It will be powered by a G62 Zenoah.

I think I do need a trailer L.T.
I measured, and I will be able to get it in the Hyundai. :dontknow:

But a trailer would be....................nice.................. :sturthepot:

Lee, maybe you can talk L.T. into buying you a trailer for :santa_smiley: . :sturthepot: Keep up the good work.

Maybe you are right Tony!

Anyway..... more back problems, so I didn't make it to the field this past weekend. I went to the Doc and he said I need another MRI, and a nerve test. I don't know if any of you have had a nerve test, but to me it is the most terrible thing to go through!

Well, back to the Corsair. I have gotten a little done on it. I have the tail feathers about done! Here is a picture of the stab and what is done on the rudder. Just a little more, and on to the fuse!! Now I just need to figure out how to hide the hinges. I have seen it done, I just need someone to tell me how to do it. Anyone have any tips?

Looks awesome dude! I will be home this weekend so maybe I could get you to throw that YS into the ucando and we can hit the field!

Well after having a pretty frustrating Saturday with the P47, which I found out was caused by one of the pull-pull tail wheel wires comming loose, I got some more done on this monster. Here are a few shots of the center section of the wing. Man! This really took a lot of time to get all of the ply ribs epoxied, and set right in the main spar. But I am almost done putting the ribs on. The next step is the leading/trailing edges, then on to the main gear mounts.

I added some gussets to the ribs that will hold the main gear, and the ribs that hold the dowels on the leading edge that will go into the fuse. I hope this is ok!(Al....Henry....Joe...Justin.....Anybody! Please chime in and let me know if you think this looks ok)

Ok Guys........Here you go. This is the completed center section of the wing.
The only thing left to do is fit the main gear which are on back order. I just cut and fit the gear rails, and I will epoxy them in when I get the mains. You can see the hardwood gussets used on each gear rib, and center. The flap servo hatch rails are epoxied, and everything was jiged up and is nice and straight. Next is the outer wing sections which are a lot easier! They will be built flat on the building board. This center section was built in a vertical position, with the back side of the main spar on the plans, and the front part of the ribs attached, then I had to trun everything over and attach the rear parts of each rib..

 Here are some shots of the progress.

The wing is getting close! :woohoo:

By the way.... the pile of wood in the background is the rest of the plane!
And just so you all can get an idea of the size of the wing, it is sitting on a 4'X8' table. :yickes:

The plans don't mention it, but I think I will add shear webbing to the outside wing panels for more strength. I think the added weight will be worth it.
What do you all think?

Nope..... Just been tooooo busy.

lahughes3 - June 27, 2009 09:49 PM (GMT)
Ok guys....
I know I have been out of the loop for quite sometime, but April shattered her ankle (8 screws and a plate) so I have been really busy taking care of her. The good news is that she will be able to walk, and should have a great recovery! Through all of this, I have started back on the Corsair. Here are some shots of the wing, which is getting closer to being finished.

Also got the P47 out and fixed the tail gear, the cable to the wheel was totaly loose, and needed to be shortened and reset go figure....
I will be out next week I hope. I am going to get a coctail, and on to the top sheeting!!!
