Order denotes rank, so Topaz queens can control all dragons including Golds and so on and so forth with Green being the lowest rank. Order also denotes rarity, the higher on the list the rarer.
Dragons on Pern bond strongly to their riders and will kill themselves if their rider dies. They can communicate with their riders telepathically and with other dragons the same way. If they have to they can communicate with other riders and people, the higher ranking the more likely they are to do this.
All dragon names end in -th. The older the Dragon the smaller they are.
TOPAZ QUEENS
Gender: Female
Bonds to: Strong willed, leader type heterosexual females, often the most hot headed female candidate
Chased by: Bronze, Iron, Brown, Bloodstone, Coal, and Blue Normally caught by Bronze or Iron, Brown, Bloodstone, and Coal can catch
Clutch Size:
~Bronze--15-25, including queens
~Iron--10-23; including Gold and rarely Topaz and Bronze
~Brown--5-15, including Brown and rarely Iron
~Bloodstone—0-12, NEVER anything higher then Bloodstone
~Coal--1-10, including Coal and rarely Brown
Color Description: Gold to yellow base with streaks of red and orange, can be more orange base with some yellow and red streaks (Like the Topaz stone)
Size: The biggest dragon on Pern, 45-70 meters long
Personalities: The Topazs are a hot-headed color, but are extremely smart and able to solve problems rapidly. They are also very organized.
Other: No dragon disobeys them besides some of the much older Golds. Due to being even larger then the golds they are less agile, but have more stamina.
GOLDEN QUEENS
Gender: Female
Bonds to: Strong willed leader type heterosexual woman, but not always the hot headed ones
Chased by: Bronze, Iron, Brown, Bloodstone, Coal, and Blue Normally caught by Bronze or Iron, Brown and Coal can catch
Clutch Size:
~Bronze--10-20, including Gold
~Iron--7-17; including Iron and rarely Gold and Bronze
~Brown--5-12, including Brown and rarely Iron
~Bloodstone—0-7, nothing higher then Bloodstone
~Coal--1-5, including Coal and rarely Brown
Color Description: Ranges from a almost cream color to a deep burnished almost brown gold
Size: 20-55 meters long
Personalities: The Golds are calmer the the Topazs, but are not quite as smart or as quick at solving problems. The Golds are organized, but nearly in an unorganized way.
Other: Only the very oldest don't listen to the Topazs
BRONZE
Gender: Male
Bonds to: Heterosexual leader-type men
Color Description: A light brass to a nearly chocolate bronze
Size: 18-45 meters long
Personalities: They tend to be leader-like and organized. Bronzes thrive on order (or at least most do). They tend to be able to pay attention better then any other males, but no like the queens
Other: They are the largest males on the planet and thus have the most stamina, but they are also less agile then any other male color and certainly less then the Greens. They tend to be Weyrleaders.
IRON
Gender: Male
Bonds to: Heterosexual or extremely masculine homosexual men; and possibly a masculine Bisexual male
Color Description: Ranges from a light gray to dark nearly black gray. (Irons and Coals can be the same or similar colors.)
Size: 15-47 meters long
Personalities: They are cynical, plotting, and revengeful. They don't take kindly to being lied to. They love to prank others, but pranking them may not be a smart idea.
Other: Their stamina is slightly less then that of Bronzes, but they have as much agility as a blue.
BROWN
Gender: Male
Bonds to: Heterosexual or 'masculine' homosexual men; and possibly a masculine Bisexual male
Color Description: Dark tan to a dark chocolate color
Size: 12-40 meters long
Personalities: Browns tend to be very level headed and calm. Nothing ever seems to really bother them, but if something does, then watch out.
Other: They have less stamina then Bronzes and Irons, but more agility then Bronzes
Bloodstone
Gender: 70% Male, 30% Female
Bonds to: Any and everyone, tho they tend to bond to homosexual people over heterosexual, especially the males
Chased by: Bronze, Iron, Brown, Bloodstone, Coal, rarely Blue
Clutch Size:
~Bronze—1-20, rarely a Bronze or Iron
~Iron—1-15, rarely an Iron or a Brown
~Brown—1-10, Very rarely a Brown and rarely a Bloodstone
~Bloodstone—1-10, Very, Very rarely a Brown, but Bloodstones are HIGHLY likely
~Coal—0-7, rarely Coal
~Blue—0-4, Blue and Green ONLY
Color Description:
Size: The males are slightly bigger then the females, but they all average larger then most coals; 20-39 meters long
Personalities: So far they all seem highly bipolar
Other: They tend to be a fairly violent color. They will NEVER clutch(or sire) a Gold or a Topaz
COAL
Gender: Male
Bonds to: Any and all people regardless of gender or sexual orientation
Color Description: Dark gray to solid pure black
Size: 11-37 meters long
Personalities: Coals are fun loving and sweet, much like the blues, but they are extremely hard working and empathetic
Other: Being slightly larger then Blues their stamina is somewhat higher, but their agility is equal
BLUE
Gender: Male
Bonds to: Mostly homosexual and bisexual men, but can bond to heterosexual men, and to homosexual and bisexual women
Color Description: Light sky blue to midnight blue
Size: 10-33 meters long
Personalities: Blues are the sweet hearts of the weyr, they are also the teachers, they enjoy teaching candidates what to expect and newly bonded pairs. Blues are the workhorses and often work harder then they have to.
Other: They have more stamina then a Green and can normally last a whole Thread Fall. They are less agile then the greens, but equal in agility to the Coals.
Tourmaline
Gender: Female
Bonds to: Hetero- and Homosexual women, must have a kind heart, but a strong will
Chased by: Bronze, Iron, Brown, Coal, rarely Blue
Clutch Size:
~Bronze—1-10, including Tourmaline and Iron
~Iron—1-8; including Tourmaline and Brown, rarely Iron
~Brown—1-5, including Brown and Tourmaline
~Bloodstone—0-5, rarely anything higher then coal
~Coal--0-3, including Coal and rarely Tourmaline
~Blue—0-3, Blue and Green ONLY
Color Description: All range of colors, can be solid or have a multitude of colors
Size: Just slightly larger than Greens; 10-35 meters long
Personalities: The Tourmalines are an easy going color, with a strong will. Being a clutching female some can have a big head and think they are better than the Topazs and Golds, but they do know their place. They are kind and gentle
Other: They have more stamina then Greens, but aren’t as agile. Also since they can clutch they do not chew firestone, but some can resulting in them losing the ability to clutch
GREEN
Gender: Female
Bonds to: Homosexual males and females as well as Heterosexual females
Chased by: Bronze, Iron, Brown, Coal, and Blue; but normally caught by Coal or Blue as the other males are too large and not as agile.
Clutch Size: None
Color Description: Everything from a pale lime green to a dark emerald green
Size: 10-30 meters long
Personalities: Very ditsy and hyper. The Greens never seem to stop moving. Their energy never runs. They have a short attention span and some can barely remember their own rider's names.
Other: They are the smallest, but most agile Dragon on the planet. They have the least amount of stamina, so often don't make it all the way through a fall.

Red/yellow = Battle
Red & Orange = Anger, irritation
Red = Hunger
Purple = Mating Lust
White = Danger, dread
