> Welcome to LotR Online
Hello and welcome to LotR Online!

Please join up with a real Middle Earth name, such as Linthir, Miriel, etc. Not champion08 or Edward Jacobs.

We may be having 'auditions' for Rangers and other such things soon. Keep by for more information.

Please note that we are no longer allowing people to sign up as elves! Seeing as the elves of Middle Earth were leaving--and we want to keep as respectively close to the books as possible--we are stopping people from joining up as elves and they will have to get direct permission to RP as such!

IC: Eldrie Lennon had once again been hired to carry out some dirty work. The dark lord had been defeated, and though Eldrie had taken missions from Sauron, he really was not all that sad to see him go, aside from the hit his purse had taken. Running a well worn hand through his sandy brown hair, Eldrie closed in on his targets. A hobbit family out for a picnic...

It was a really warm day out, and Eldrie noticed it beneath his chain mail shirt, and cloak. Taking off his cloak and leaving it on his horse, which he tethered to a nearby tree, Eldrie drew his twin longswords, and moved closer to the family keeping in the trees. Hobbits....he never liked hobbits, he found them to be annoyingly useless creatures. As he neared he spotted movement, and noticed two other hobbits coming to join the family.

The job is just for the family of four...but, I don't mind killing the others.... he thought to himself, as he drew a deep breath getting ready to sprint forward and kill the annoying creatures. However, he stayed his hand as he decided to wait for a couple minutes, just to see if anyone else was showing up late, he did not need to be surprised or spotted and then have half the hobbiton militia coming down upon him. Though with his experience and skills, he doubted that he would have much of a problem with them.

As he watched the targets at their play, he let his mind drift back to the recent events of his life. He had been hired to ambush the city of minas tirith from the docks...but had arrived at the launch a little late, of which he was grateful, for he had seen a swarm of undead warriors, as well as three living warriors wipe out the boat and board them. So he had not gone for the battle, and just as well, from all reports Sauron had lost. Shrugging to himself, he wondered how the orcs could have blundered so badly, and then realized...that was why, they were orcs.

He wondered briefly if he should have brought his men but realized that it wasn't needed, considering that the mission was just to kill hobbits. A smile rose upon his lips as he considered the hundred men that he had waiting for him back a little ways, a few miles north of the shire. They were the few mercenaries that had survived the battle of Minas Tirith, by not being there. Thankfully, the most elite mercs, had realized what a foolish attack it had been, and had survived to rally to their commander, Eldrie. He'd be back with them soon enough, just to kill these creatures and then, a raid on a settlement. If he did not report back in twenty minutes, they would ride in and slaughter every hobbit, a bad thing for hobbiton, better a few die here then many in the end.

Yes....that is how I will justify it...

(This is moderated by mods, and I am one of them. Just step carefully, but this is a PG-13 site. Just keep it as clean as humanly possible, human. Lol. Beware my fearsome elf powers!)

Legolas hadn't liked the feeling he received when he had ridden into Hobbiton. Yes, he had been shirking his duties as King for a while, but Cirdan could handle it for a few months until he had everything together. He had gotten an invite from Master Sam Gamgee to visit him, and it had been so long since he had seen the little hobbit, so he was not going to miss this. But it wasn't just missing his friend, or knowing that he wasn't fulfilling his duty to his people. It was something else.

He shook his head and dismounted as he came upon Hobbiton. He smiled at the hobbits who were enamored by his appearance. True, it was not often one saw an elf walking about Middle Earth, but he was not just a normal elf, was he? He had to step out of the way before he was plowed down by some little hobbit children. He smiled. They were menaces just like his own.

Using his keen hearing, he located Sam and Rosie, and their children. Tying up Arod, he walked up to his hobbit-friend and greeted him and his wife. He smiled, but then became stern as he whispered a warning to Sam and Rosie. There was nothing not... right. He could hear it in the air. He was grateful for what he was, and therefore able to sense trouble.

Legolas sat down, at the invitation of the kind family. "Thank you, Samwise, Rosie." A slight smile curled at his lips, before he glanced around, in what would have been a casual manner, if he wasn't looking for something.

"If you have any business with this family, human, you take it up with me." He said loudly, turning back around and standing up, facing the human he had spotted earlier.

Eldrie watched as an elf, but not just an elf, the elf that he had seen on the mercenary ships that had been boarded. Sighing to himself, and cursing his idiocy he walked out from the trees that he had been hiding behind and walked forwards, his swords resting in his hands a smirk upon his face.

Sure, I have business..I am to kill them, to be honost

Looking at Legolas, Eldrie recongized him, and made a comment thus,

"Very nice job you, and if I am not mistaken King Aragorn, and the dwarf did of ambushing my boats. I knew that the seige was doomed, so me and the elites did not join the battle. Tell me, what do you think we should do now, there is a conflict of interests here it seems"

Stopping, he shifted to a combat stance, and prepared to whistle, knowing that his men would be closing the distance, now that it had been fifteen minutes. He would not force a conflict, he was a businessman afterall, and he didn't really want to kill so many people that he did not have a contract on. However, if this Legolas, ruler of one of the elven realms was friends with this hobbit, it was probably one of the four famous hobbits, thus explaining why he had been hired to kill him.

Waiting for a response, Eldrie was prepared to blow into motion.

Legolas didn't touch his weapons, not yet, anyway. He watched this human merely exist and speak, and he hated him. He dared to set foot on untainted land and taint it with his black heart. He bit back rash words and forced himself to take on the calm he usually had on during a battle or when he was facing his councilors. But in his heart, he still blazed with anger.

"You are correct." He said with a nod. "You should leave. I do not wish to kill you." A small smirk settled on his lips. It was true; he did not wish to waste mortal blood on this land. But his friends' lives were on the line and he would do whatever necessary to keep them safe.

The King casually took the bow from his back and held it at his side. Just in case. He could not take on this mercenary and whatever number of men he had at the ready, but he knew he could buy Samwise and his family if just a few minutes to get away. He prayed a swift prayer to the Valar that if this came to battle, that they would protect the hobbits. They did not deserve to die. He also prayed for his own family, that they would be alright, if he was to die.

Looking at Legolas as he held his bow at his side, Eldrie smirked and then grew a smile as two horsemen appeared beside him, their own bows held at the ready. Looking at Legolas, Eldrie chuckled,

"What took you guy so long? and where are the others?"

"Oh you know us General, we like to sight see, the others are five minutes back. We ran into a couple of hobbit kids, had to put them down hard"

Eldrie grimaced as they mentioned the kids, it wasn't like he needed Legolas hearing that. Sighing, and thinking fast, Eldrie came to a quick solution, he would not press the issue now, but he did need to get something out of the deal. He knew that they were going to be busted as soon as they didn't kill the hobbits, and that meant a group of orcs coming for him and his men. Looking at Legolas, he spoke,

"Yes, well, sparing these hobbits means, a loss of money for me, and a hundred men dead, unless you can give me gold? And perhaps an alliance with the elves? 10,000 gold will be enough for their freedom"

Legolas froze in place. If this had happened maybe a couple of years previous, he would not have been so affected. But he had two children of his own, and one was just a babe. He could only imagine how the parents would feel. In a blur of motion, he nocked an arrow on his bowstring back, wondering which ones to pick off first. Maybe that ugly brute who had mentioned the killing of the hobbit children.

He truly wondered for a moment if this human would keep to his word, but he doubted it. "Human, I know your type. I will never make an alliance with scum. And I know you wouldn't hold to your word." He felt a deadly rage burn in his chest. "Leave now, before I put this arrow through your heart. And after thousands of years of practice, I never miss." Malice was evident in his voice and he was only a hair away from acting on it.

Looking at Legolas with his drawn bow, his men suddenly swung their bows to face the elf. Everyone knew that the elf would lose, ecspecially with more men on their way, that was plain to everyone. Looking at Legolas however, Eldrie felt moved by the willingness to stand up for something more then oneself.

"Legolas, your an idiot, but an admirable one. I shall leave, and one day we will meet again" turning to leave, Eldrie mounted his horse, but paused to look over his shoulder and offer a farewell, "I always keep my word elf, I am a mercenary, not an orc"

Offering a sharp salute, the three riders headed off, to prepare the men, for Eldrie knew as all great leaders knew, that when a contract is broken, there is a price. Eldrie and his men were going to be hunted by orcs now, and Urak Hai, and that was the price for sparing the hobbits, and the elf.

Yet, it was the right thing to do
