Carly Renounces Sonny (April 11th)

Every parent's nightmare was realized in a tragic turn of on General
Hospital when Sonny and Carly saw their young son, Michael, laying in
a coma as a result of a gunshot to the head. Nerves were already raw
when Carly overheard that her ex had shielded his girlfriend Kate,
when shots rang out, leaving Michael exposed to God knows what. At
first she couldn't believe her ears. "You could have saved Michael or
Kate, and you chose Kate?" she asked quietly. He tried to explain how
he saw the rifle and reacted without thinking, but his answer wasn't
good enough. Carly pressed harder for a confession.

"You put our son in the line of fire to save Kate?" He looked at her
intently, answering harshly, "Yes!"

Hatred filling her eyes, she slapped him. But, feeling guilty of his
accord, he took it like a man. Kate and Alexis both stepped in to
defend Sonny and calm Carly, but their efforts did nothing but fuel
her already burning fire.

"I was wrong!" Sonny finally screamed back. Carly was looking for a
reason why her boy's life was hanging by a thread and Sonny, as she
saw it, was that reason. Tears filled her eyes, rage and fear
reverberated in her voice. "You swore to me that you were going to
protect him and keep him safe, and when his life was on the line, you
didn't give a damn. Michael was disposable," she charged.

Suddenly she got quiet. "You don't deserve to be a parent and you are
not Michael's father any more."

Laura Wright was positively riveting as a mother falling apart as she
faced the idea that her taste in men may have cost her child his life.
Wright seems to know instinctively when to reel in the emotions,
hiding behind her expressive, glassy eyes and when to unleash her
wrath on those around her. Either way, she's as powerful as they come
