Another story. I don't think that I've posted it up here yet.
Prelude to Slaughter at Hulfenburg
The sunlight streamed down through the trees, lighting upon flowers, grass, butterflies and all things wonderful. The Human waltzed along in his merry way, which he had managed to perfect only recently. Everything was fine in his life: his wife had just given birth to his second child, this time a little boy, who would be his heir; his carpentry business was working perfectly; there was plenty of food; everybody liked him. Everything was exactly as he would have wanted.
THWACK! The black-flighted arrow shot out of the trees and embedded itself into a tree-trunk very close to his neck. Another five followed, but only two of them were on target, knocking the man down against a tree, his life-blood seeping out onto the ground around him. As his vision started to go blurry and fade, he saw green humanoids in multi-coloured cloth running past him towards the village armed with short-bows. They were also covered in tattoos, which they wore almost as clothes. They also carried horns and drums, presumably to call other foul things to the attack, he thought.
Summoning all of his strength, he yelled with all of his might a warning to the small village of Hulfenburg. One of the larger green-skins turned towards him, alerted to the fact that he was still alive. It skulked over to him and bent down to look at him in the eye. The foul stench that was emitted was nearly enough to choke the human. As it bent down to look him in the eye, he spat it in the eye. With a look of sheer malice in its eye, it drove its crude blade deep into him, pinning him against the tree for a few, agonising seconds. The creature took great pleasure from this, enjoying every moment of pain the human suffered.
With the human dead, the green-skin turned away and followed its brethren towards the slaughter.
