Naruto is a Jinchūriki and Sage. As a Jinchuriki host he can tap into the Chakra from the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox that is sealed within himself.
History:
Naruto started dead-last in the class and failure in the Ninja academy. After being tricked into stealing a scroll of seals from the Hokage Residence by Mizuki, who had told him that he would be allowed to graduate only if he could learn a jutsu from it. He did this task and learned the technique Multi-shadow clone. Mizuki had planned to steal the scroll and kill Naruto but was stopped by Iruka an instructor at the acadamy. Naruto was told of his 9-tail fox demon that lived inside him in a second attempt to deceive him by Mizuki. Naruto used his new technique to over-come Mizuki and Iruka passed him due to his learning of such a difficult jutsu.
Naruto became a teacher to Konohamaru after graduation and teaches him jutsu techniques periodically. He was than assigned to team 7 which later becomes known as Team Kakashi. The team under the leadership of Kakashi Hatake included Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno and later on Sai who replaces Sasuke. Naruto and the others learned to work together under Kakashi and became a very good team that could handle anything put in front of them, defeating many tough opponents that include Zabuza Momochi of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist and his assistant Haku.
Naruto took the Chūnin Exams and went through the procedures getting to the finals, where he was trained first by Ebisu and later by Jiraiya. Jiraiya teaches him how to summon Toads. In the finals, he would face and defeat Kiba Inuzuka, and his dog, Akamaru in round one and Neji Hyūga in round two but this was ended early due to Invasion of Konoha by sand and sound Ninja. During this invasion, Naruto saves Sasuke and Sakura by defeating Gaara of the Sand who had fully transformed into the One-Tailed Shukaku. During the battle and at the end, Naruto explains that he has also suffered a relentless lonely life, but was later saved by having friends. Gaara understands, and retreats.
Soon after Naruto and Jiraiya set out and eventually find Tsunade who is to be the Fifth Hokage. During these travels they encounter Kisame Hoshigaki and Itachi Uchiha, two members of Akatsuki, who sought to capture Naruto for the Nine-Tails sealed within him, defeated
Orochimaru and his assistant, Kabuto Yakushi, (Naruto) received a necklace once worn by Hashirama Senju, the First Hokage from Tsunade, and learned the Rasengan technique.
After returning home Tsunade sends Team Kakashi (without Kakashi) on a mission to escort someone in the land of Tea. This client turns out to be Idate Morino, who used to be a ninja and is the brother of Ibiki Morino who had given Naruto the written part of his Chunin exam. In this mission they meet Aoi Rokushō and defeat him destroying his powerful sword(sword of the Thunder god).
Soon after the mission was over Sasuke (who was effected by a curse mark from Orochimaru during the Chunin exams) abandoned the Leaf village and joined up with the Sound four (who was made up of Jirōbō, Kidōmaru, Sakon/Ukon, and Tayuya) in search of power. Naruto joined a retrieval party made up of Akamaru, Chōji Akimichi, Neji Hyūga, and Kiba Inuzuka under the leadership of Shikamaru Nara
to get Sasuke back. Naruto made a promise to Sakura that he would bring Sasuke back. Kimimaro (the leader of the sound 4) appeared to delay Naruto but Rock Lee saved Naruto's life and allowed him to go after Sasuke. Naruto finds Sasuke in a place called Valley of the End. The two fight and empowered by the cursed mark, Sasuke over came a 9-tail fox empowered Naruto. Badly beaten Sasuke went on to Orochimaru.
Naruto recovered quickly and agreed to a three year intense training with Jiraiya but before leaving for this training goes on a few missions to help the hidden leaf village (and get out of Tsunade's hair). These missions include while investigating Orochimaru's whereabouts, encounters the Fūma clan, helping Iruka catch the escaped convict, Mizuki, looking for the Bikochu Beetle with team 8 in the hopes that it will lead them to Sasuke Uchiha while defeating Kamizuru clan of the Iwagakure, with Team Guy defeats Raiga Kurosuki another of the seven deadly swordsmen of the Mist and his Kurosuki family, with Kiba, and Hinata help Sazanami clear his name against a murder charge, Naruto, Neji, and Tenten go to the Land of Birds to deal with a mysterious ghost, goes with Anko Mitarashi, Ino, and Shino to the Land of the Sea to find information on Orochimaru, Team Guy go to Hoshigakure (land of the stars) where he meets Sumaru, goes with Hinata, and Chōji to the Land of Vegetables to defeat the Criminal Brothers, helped Might Guy defeat the Three Ryūdōin Brothers, helps stop Gennō from destroying Konoha, with Kurenai, helps Yakumo Kurama defeat her demon inside, along with Lee, and Sakura defeat and kill the Shinobazu gang, goes with Menma of the sound along with Neji and Tenten to help protect a village in the Land of Rice Fields from Bandits, and helped defeat Four Celestial Symbols Men who consisted of Hōki, Kujaku, Ryūgan, and Suiko, as well as the leader Seimei and save Matsuri of the Sand village.
Soon after that he and Juraiya left the village for three years doing intense training, that included escape techniques and almost killing Juraiya while in 4 tail form.
Role Playing Sample:
The sun beat down on the open window of Naruto's apartment. The warm rays hit him directly in the face as he snoozed from a long hard mission he had just finished. He quickly sat up in the bed and looked at his alarm. He failed to set it before he fell asleep and was now almost late for his team training.
Leaping from the bed, he quickly slipped on his orange jump suit and raced out the door as quick as he could manage to go. As he ran through the streets Konohamaru steps out of the shadow to get in his way. "No time today I am really late" he says as he runs by the small boy.
As he arrives Sakura and Sai are already waiting for him. Sakura has a cross look on her face and he can tell from the look that he is about to get hit. "Wait.. I can explain..." but before he can manage to get the rest out, he feels the sharp sting of a fist striking his face as he falls to the ground. "Sheesh Sakura" he says as he rubs he already swollen cheek.
