"No." Amy said simply. "She was okay in the end, but it looked like the Professor arrived just in time. It looked like he was going to drag her under and everyone was just standing there watching. I think it was from the shock of the Squid coming so close to a student." she added.

Amy smiled. "That's what I think." she said. "I've tried to be friends with Slytherins, but most dont want to because I'm not a Slytherin like them, although there was one girl, but she graduated last year." Her voice got softer at the end. She missed the girl, actually. She had been her only Slytherin friend.

"So, then, er, nevermind." Amy said. She was going to ask if she was still blood prejudice, but it was really none of Amy's business. Besides, she was a pureblood anyway. "So," Amy said instead, "You like to read?" She could swear she had seen her in the library a couple of times, but then again, it could of always been someone else.

[Demeter Hawthorne]

"I've never seen the Squid get that close to a student," Demeter replied, slightly shocked. The giant squid had always seemed peaceful to her when she saw it; usually if it showed itself at all, the only way to tell were slight disruptions in the water. It hadn't ever come into such close contact with the students in all of Demeter's memory.

Demeter was about to ask Amy what she was going to say, but she decided against it. She wasn't entirely sure it was a question she would have wanted to answer.

"Yeah, I do," Demeter replied, smiling slightly as she remembered the pile of books under the bed in her dorm that she'd brought from home, the ones she read more than any other. She also frequented the library; Hogwarts had quite an interesting collection. "Almost more than I like people, sometimes."

"I have." Amy replied. "Other than when it attacked the student, he's been up to nearly the shoreline before, but that was when no one was in the water. Maybe he felt some kind of a connection to the girl, somwhow, I dunno."

Amy smiled. "Yea, I know the feeling. Books are more real sometimes, and don't lie to you like people do, unless of course they're fictional." she added with a chuckle. "And don't stab you in the back." she added softly, almost inaudible. One thing she hated about getting close to people, how some tended to stray and stab you in the back. "The spellbooks section is interesting. I found a Fourth Year spellbook from twenty years ago there." she added.
