Akiko's red eyes glazed over with concentration as she stood by the river. She brought her hands together, and then in a fluid motion made a series of signs.
"Suiton! Water Whip Technique!" she stated loudly. Immediately her chakra connected to the river, and suddenly a sharp stream of water jetted past her towards the target. She aimed her jutsu carefully, and the water shot through the bullseye with such force that the whole target broke in half. Akiko smiled with triumph, but as she lost her concentration the stream of water was released and soaked back into the ground.
'Who cares, though? I finally got the water pressure to be strong enough to use for a long range attack,' she thought cheerfully, brushing her sticky bangs out of her face.

It was another hot day in the Hidden Leaf Village, and training by the river all afternoon hadn't helped. Kami, she was only wearing black shorts and a violet tank top, and she still felt like she was burning to a crisp. Akiko crouched down by the shore and cupped some water in her hands, quickly splashing it against her face. The cool sensation of the liquid made her feel a little bit better; in fact she was almost tempted to just jump in and go for a swim.
The idea came and went just as quickly, as Akiko shook her head. "Gah, I wish my teamates would get back from their missions sooner. I think I'm going crazy from training alone all the time," she complained softly, swinging a kunai around her index finger in a bored fashion.

Always the optimist Mr. Kimura was already out and exploring the new world open to him. Or rather, the old world. Either way, he was out and about. Stepping lightly through the soft earth of the river bank he viewed his surroundings with approval. The air seemed so much fresher, everything was green and bright and alive. Yet the town was probably no smaller than it had been in his own time. Everything just moved slower. Which was just what Daichi liked.

He rounded a bend in the river just in time to watch the ending of a well done water technique. Being mainly a wind type he was always impressed with someone who could pull other sorts of justus. Of course, he had watched Aurora do some pretty amazing things with water. For once in his life he was feeling in a sociable mood so in his slow, meandering way he walked over to the small practice feild. A drop of sweat slid past his left ear. He whiped it away impatiently. It was much too hot today.

Kicking up a clod of damp earth he leaned on an old tree withered from too much water intake. He watched her quietly for a minute, chuckingly to himself at her last remark. "Talking to yourself is a sure sign of insanity."

Akiko jumped up from her crouched position, startled as she heard someone behind her. On instict, she tightened her grip on the kunai, and as she spun around she held it up high, ready to release it. However, she paused immediately when she noticed it was just a boy standing by a tree. She looked at him blinkingly for a moment before finally relaxing her battle stance.
"My, my...then I should check myself into the hospital right away, neh?" she chuckled, somewhat nervously, tucking her messy hair back behind her ear.
'Gah, how long has he been there? And why didn't I sense him sooner,' she scolded herself silently. The whole point of training was that she was suppose to get better at things like that. 'No wonder I still haven't passed the jonin exams,' she thought, mentally shaking her head.

Suddenly, Akiko looked down and realized she was still holding the kunai in her hand.
"Eh...sorry, you just surprised me...don't you know it's a bad idea to sneak up on a ninja?" she said, rubbing the back of her head sheepishly. She swung the too in her hand one more time, before tucking it away in the weapons holster strapped around her thigh.
Straigtening up again, Akiko took a small step forward, trying to get a better look at the newcomer. He didn't look that much older than her...in fact, he even looked kind of familiar. She tapped a finger against her chin thoughtfully for a moment, before it clicked.
"Hey, you're a ninja too, right? I think I've seen you around that Tsunami Squad or something..." she trailed off softly, a questioning look on her face. Akiko didn't like to be nosy (she usually wasn't even a talkative person), but it had been a long time since she had met someone new, and she was honestly getting a little bored of it.

All Daichi could do was smile and lift his eyebrows. So, she was a jumpy one. Or better yet, and unobservant one. Well, she was still young. There was plenty of time for her to hone her skills. He shot her a cheeky grin. "Not that you need my tips, but I'll offer one up anyway. A great way to cut down stress: Don't assume everyone's out to kill you; especially when your in your own village. "

He laughed a bit at her return comment at first. "No. Save the straight jackets for the real lunes. Ninja's can't be crazy. Just brilliant in their own way." His cheeky grin returned for a brief moment as he jerked away from the tree and took a place in front of one of the targets. Flipping a kunai between his fingers he took aim. With a flick of the wrist the compact weapon went sailing through the air. There was a small thud as the metal hit just north of the target's center.

Lifting an eyebrow he crossed his arms. "Yeah. I've heard it's not the safest thing to do." Turning a brown eye her way walked over to fetch his kunai. "Oh, I'm sure you have seen me with them. Their the only family I have. Team Tsunami, we're... new in town." He smiled, to himself this time, as he thought about the circumstances that brought them to Konoha. Taking a deep breath he repeated the story the group had decided on. "We got... thrown out of our village. So we came here. Nice town so far."
