Akiko's red eyes glazed over with concentration as she stood by the river. She brought her hands together, and then in a fluid motion made a series of signs. "Suiton! Water Whip Technique!" she stated loudly. Immediately her chakra connected to the river, and suddenly a sharp stream of water jetted past her towards the target. She aimed her jutsu carefully, and the water shot through the bullseye with such force that the whole target broke in half. Akiko smiled with triumph, but as she lost her concentration the stream of water was released and soaked back into the ground. 'Who cares, though? I finally got the water pressure to be strong enough to use for a long range attack,' she thought cheerfully, brushing her sticky bangs out of her face.
It was another hot day in the Hidden Leaf Village, and training by the river all afternoon hadn't helped. Kami, she was only wearing black shorts and a violet tank top, and she still felt like she was burning to a crisp. Akiko crouched down by the shore and cupped some water in her hands, quickly splashing it against her face. The cool sensation of the liquid made her feel a little bit better; in fact she was almost tempted to just jump in and go for a swim. The idea came and went just as quickly, as Akiko shook her head. "Gah, I wish my teamates would get back from their missions sooner. I think I'm going crazy from training alone all the time," she complained softly, swinging a kunai around her index finger in a bored fashion.

Akiko jumped up from her crouched position, startled as she heard someone behind her. On instict, she tightened her grip on the kunai, and as she spun around she held it up high, ready to release it. However, she paused immediately when she noticed it was just a boy standing by a tree. She looked at him blinkingly for a moment before finally relaxing her battle stance. "My, my...then I should check myself into the hospital right away, neh?" she chuckled, somewhat nervously, tucking her messy hair back behind her ear. 'Gah, how long has he been there? And why didn't I sense him sooner,' she scolded herself silently. The whole point of training was that she was suppose to get better at things like that. 'No wonder I still haven't passed the jonin exams,' she thought, mentally shaking her head.
Suddenly, Akiko looked down and realized she was still holding the kunai in her hand. "Eh...sorry, you just surprised me...don't you know it's a bad idea to sneak up on a ninja?" she said, rubbing the back of her head sheepishly. She swung the too in her hand one more time, before tucking it away in the weapons holster strapped around her thigh. Straigtening up again, Akiko took a small step forward, trying to get a better look at the newcomer. He didn't look that much older than her...in fact, he even looked kind of familiar. She tapped a finger against her chin thoughtfully for a moment, before it clicked. "Hey, you're a ninja too, right? I think I've seen you around that Tsunami Squad or something..." she trailed off softly, a questioning look on her face. Akiko didn't like to be nosy (she usually wasn't even a talkative person), but it had been a long time since she had met someone new, and she was honestly getting a little bored of it.
