The Manchester Derby was FANTASTIC! I hope everyone caught it, because if you missed it, you missed a HECK of a game! Both teams fought hard, pressure went back and forth, Sir Alex Ferguson and Roberto Mancini looked ready to get into a fight at one point, there were some nasty tackles, tons of drama and Manchester City won 1-0 over Manchester United. If you are a casual fan and the low number score turns you off because you need lots of numbers to tell you something happened then the great entertainment of this game is not for you. If you enjoy football and the back and forth chess game it can be with an INCREDIBLE crowd and atmosphere that was THROUGH THE ROOF then this was a game that made you go FOOTBALL! Great game, the Premiere League title is all up in the air now! Manchester City and Manchester United are tied at 83 points each, City ahead on goal difference. If City lose either or both of the next two games or draw either or both it could cost them this very tiny sliver of an advantage in the title race. If United lose either or both of the next two games or draw either or both.. all hope for their title hops can be gone. So much can happen in the next two games of this season, EVERYTHING IS TO PLAY FOR! THIS is how seasons should end!
And you know, despite how heartbreaking the exit was from Champions League for my beloved Los Blancos, I have to say.. Both Champions League semi-finals 2nd legs last week were also great examples of football! Drama to the highest, eveyrthing up in the air to play for, and drama and entertainment like no tomorrow. This season has not always been the best but it is ending with a bang all over Europe! Over the weekend Real Madrid thumped a trash talking Sevilla 3-0 at the Bernabeu with Ronaldo netting his 43rd league goal of the season. Problem is that Barcelona won at Rayo Vallecano 7-0 and Messi scored twice tying him up with Ronaldo fo rthe scoring title! Real Madrid still have a 7 point lead over Barcelona and it all comes down to the next game this Wednesday. Win at Bilbao and Real Madrid CLINCH their 32nd La Liga title! YOWZA! I haven't seen the game but I heard lots of good things about the Coupe de France final this past Saturday. Ligue 1 powerhouse Lyon defeated 3rd division US Quevilly but the 3rd division side fought to the very end and were threatening to equalize but apparently couldn't get it done in the end. Sounds like it was a great game and a heck of a story for a 3rd division club to make it through top sides of France to the cup finals where they ultimately lost. So close to legend status if they had won! ALSO from this past weekend, CELTIC laid a 3-0 beating on Rangers, the club I hate most in all of sports! F-BOMB YEAH! Great weekend of football, there were plenty of exciting games and what a great Manchester Derby to end it. If Real clinch the title this Wednesday expect a massive celebration from me on here! Til then, adios! -------------------- |

YOWZA! So much happened this past weekend! I'll get the Real Madrid stuff out of the way since that is the stuff that means the most to me but the least to y'all so.. Real Madrid travelled to Granada this weekend. Granada has been having some war of words with Zaragoza as both teams battle relegation and Granada accuses Zaragoza of doing corrupt stuff in trying to stay up. Well big controversey before the game even happens.. The referee for the game.. He's from Zaragoza. Game ends 2-1 for Real Madrid with a penalty kick awarded to Real as part of that and an own goal leading to Granada's demise at the very end of the game. One Granada player threw a water bottle at the ref's head. Various staff and players threatened the referee. The refs holed up in their locker room postmatch while Granada staff tried to kick the door down, then they cut off the hot water and internet connection to the dressing room. Somehow the refs survive and escape. The president of Granada came out blasting La Liga and Zaragoza postmatch, claiming they are corrupt. UGLY UGLY STUFF!
BUT.. Anyways.. Real Madrid, who have already clinched the title, are now at 97 points and if they beat Mallorca this weekend in the last game of the season well.. They will be the first team I think in any European top division to reach 100pts in a season! I know Reading and Newcastle did over 100pts in the Championship aka 2nd division of English Football but that is not 1st division top flight football. So go for HISTORY, Los Blancos! HALA MADRID! One more La Liga note.. Last season Ronaldo broke the old La Liga scoring record with 41 goals. This season he has 45.. BUT... Lionel Messi, the world's best player... HAS F-ING 50 GOALS! In La Liga. 72 goals in all competitions. UNREAL. Way to take the spotlight away from Real's big Leage title win between Pep leaving and Messi's gazillion goals. ALRIGHT... FA Cup Finals! Chelsea vs Liverpool! Liverpool don't seem to be anywhere in the 1st hour of the game roughly, Chelsea go 2-0 up, Drogba continues to score in Wembley, and then Liverpool wake up, Andy Carroll nets a goal making it 2-1 and.. yeah.. he nets another goal but they claim it's a save by Peter Cech but.. Yeah.. it went over the line. It really seemed too from the clips I've seen of it. But it's not counted, and Chelsea win the FA Cup! Boring game until the last 30 minutes or so and man, Chelsea have won a lot of FA Cups in the past few years. At least Liverpool got one trophy this season, the League Cup. Premiere League.. YOWZA! Manchester City go to Newcastle United and win 2-0! Manchester United win their game as well so the title race is going down to the VERY LAST DAY~! F-ING EXCITING! Both tied on points, goal difference going City's way. If City draws or loses and United wins, United get the title. If City wins or draws and United lose or draw, CITY WIN THE TITLE! So many ways that can play out, I hope City get the title cos I hate Manchester United and someone new winning is a good thing. The battle for the 3rd place Champions League spot is also SUPER heated and can still be won by Arsenal, Tottenham or Newcastle. That is going to be something to keep an eye on! Should be awesome games with awesome atmosphere! On the relegation front, Blackburn Rovers join Wolverhampton in going down thanks to losing to Wigan on Monday. It will come down to basically Bolton and QPR. Who will go down? I am hoping it's QPR cos if QPR stays up that means they beat Manchester City on the last day and.. I want City to win the league! There is a slight chance Aston Villa could take the drop but it's very slight. In any event all of the relegation stuff is going to be a F-ing BLAST to watch this Sunday! The last day is gonna be pretty good. In Italy, Juventus clinched the Serie A title by winning and AC Milan losing in the Milan Derby. The Milan Derby was an INCREDIBLE F-ING GAME that ended 4-2 for Inter Milan and was just great drama and exciting football. Juve's title win celebration was INCREDIBLE as well~! A mob of supporters grabbing Conte, the manager, and tossing him in the air in celebration.. WILD! Really great scenes and Juve will be scary in the Champions League next season. The 3rd Champiosn league spot is very much up for contention in Italy and that should be exciting this coming weekend. Tomorrow is the Europa League/UEFA Cup final between Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao. Talk about a match up I have a hard time getting into. I'm happy it's an all Spanish affair, that is good for our coeffecient and all of that. BUT.. Patetico vs Basque Seperatists. UGH. Who the F am I suppose to root for? I guess I will just hope it's a good game, part of me wants Bilbao to win it with Fernando Llorrente scoring cos I like Llorente and want him to be in the Spanish National Team at the Euros. BUT.. We'll see. Whatever happens... Hopefully it's a good game. OK.. On Monday or so I wil have more thoughts after the leagues wrap up. -------------------- |

So I did not get many predictions right for this season. The only ones I got right where: Real Madrid winning La Liga, Borussia Dortmund winning Bundesliga and Wolves being relegated. I didn't want Wolves to go down but alas... ANYWAYS.. I got nothing else right! At all! *sobs* I honestly was shocked that Chelsea won the Champions League final, I thought for certain Bayern would win it. I am happy in a way for Chelsea that they won it, happy for Fernando Torres and Juan Mata, Pete Cech and even Drogba. BUT.. John Terry and others suspended for the final getting to recieve winners medals and lift the trophy.. not right IMO. Bayern Munich, especially Schweinsteiger, were so gutted afterwards.. their 2nd time in 3 years to lose out in the finals. But one Real Madrid related note to the finals.. After Bayern elminated my beloved Los Blancos in a PK shoot out in the semi-finals, Munich's goalkeeper, Nuer, made a quip to the press that he didn't know that Sergio Ramos liked to hit his penalties over the bar in reference to Ramos skying his PK in the shootout. After Bayern's loss in the final Sergio Ramos made a retort that he didn't know that Neuer enjoyed losing in finals. YOWZA!
ANYWAYS.. Napoli defeated Juvenuts in the Coppa di Italia final, Montpellier won the Ligue 1 in France by 3 points while PSG, who came in 2nd, had a FIERY match against Lorient! If you don't know what I am talking about you'll want to go look that up for yourself, talk about CRAZY! And.. that's about it for this season. There is the Copa del Rey final on Friday between Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao, will be Guardiola's last game at the helm of Barca. Myself, I am read fo rthe Euros and then the next season. Also glad that now I should be able to catch some MLS which I have not been able to keep up with so far this season. I think this does it for me in this thread. Let's all switch over to the Euros and MLS until August. Adios! -------------------- |
