[MBC] HOUSE SHOW REPORT
June 8th, 2006 at: Tarrant County Convention Center in Ft. Worth, TX Ft. Worth was the first logical choice for when the MBC decided to travel outside of Dallas to kick off its house shows. The show sold out pretty quick but lucky for me, I got my tickets early. I was totally at work and this radio station van pulled up to the restaurant next to us. I took a break and BAM got my tickets! Nobody rocks Texas harder than THE BONE! Anyways, we showed up early, bought a couple Simon O'Neal T-shirts and a Tinkle plush doll. My girlfriend has about a thousand of these things. Shawni McKenzie came out and boy did she get a lot of whistles. She welcomed everybody and went over all the rules for the evening. No throwing stuff etc. People still did it but arena security was all over those idiots. It's a shame they suck so bad when they try to get things in the ring settled you know? "THE FANTASY" BRETT YOUNG versus RAT CATCHER I knew this guy was coming to the MBC and it was really cool that we got to see him wrestle before his television debut on HOB. The crowd was fired up after Shawni came out and sort of died down when Rat Catcher arrived. Not many people knew who Brett Young was but he did an awesome job in getting the crowd worked up and behind him. Man, if he can get the crowd on HOB half as excited as they were here, then he's going to go far! WINNER: Brett Young "THE LIONESS" KARI STEVENS versus "RIGHTEOUS" ROBIN RHOADES Everybody was just about clueless as to who this Robin Rhoades was so we kinda thought she was just another poor schlub they brought in to get fed to the superstars. But we were wrong. She had mad skills and most importantly she was hot. Mind you, so was Kari Stevens. Just don't tell my girlfriend. We heard later that the MBC is debuting a new feeder league within the next week and that Robin Rhoades was on the roster. I hope it's on TV because man I'd like to see her again. WINNER: Kari Stevens "HELLRAISER" TOM LANDIS versus JONAS "DUTCH" ELM Okay, this dude was huge. And I mean HUGE. There was good reason for him to be named after a tree. Everybody boo'd him at first because he acted like a dick when he came out. But then we saw that he was facing Landis and well, lets just say that Elm became the crowd favorite. Landis put on a LOT of offense at first but Elm was soaking it all. You know, like a tree. Then Jonas started pounding away and it was getting ugly. But Landis wouldn't stay down. He just kept fighting and fighting. Some of the crowd was even getting behind him. But everybody went absolutely nuts when Landis not only had to hit one Diamond Dust, not two, but THREE of them to keep Elm down. It was the most awesome big man match I've seen in a long time! WINNER: Tom Landis RONAN BENEDICT versus "HEAVY MENTAL" DAVE PIETKA The crowd came down a bit after the first match but Pietka and Benedict were fighting so hard, it didn't take long for the people to get back up on their feet. I wasn't really a fan of these two dudes before but man, I am now. It was crazy how back and forth it was and they were totally doing stuff I had never seen before. The end was such a blur but Pietka hit his GOD DAMN DDT and covered Ronan for the 1,2, 3. WINNER: Dave Pietka FURY AND MYRA BENEDICT versus THE GRIMSSONS This is kind of a rematch from a while back on the House of Bastards. Except instead of Team Canada we've got Fury. And really this makes for a lot more interesting results since Myra Benedict is in Amity now. This was a mega brawl from the word go. Chad and Erik were just slugging it out with Spice and Rage and Myra and Nina were going crazy. Hell, even Ami Tran and Susan Davis were fighting at ringside. The referees allowed for a lot of chaos thankfully. I mean if they hadn't this match would have been over in two minutes. Instead it went on for maybe 20 and I think a few of them even started to bleed. I've never seen that at a house show before. In the end, the Grimssons avenged their loss when Nina pinned Myra. WINNER: The Grimssons PSYCHO DRIVER TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH HOT COMMODITIES © versus TARA AND KATIE SMITH Holly Hotbody was SMOKING HOT man. That title gold looks so good on her. Even my girlfriend thought she looked hot. I was really surprised to see Tara Smith and her sister tag teaming. I mean, it makes sense but I didn't think I'd see it this soon. It was a really fast paced match, with a lot of high flying exchanges between Amazing Grace and Tara. Holly did her fair share of distracting the referee and that got Katie Smith hot under the collar. It looked like Katie had the match won but Holly pulled out this crazy reversal that Katie couldn't counter and pinned her. I think she even pulled the tights. WINNERS: Hot Commodities TEAM BASTARD CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE MATCH TEAM CANADA © versus ROUGH N'READY Okay, I lied. I said the match with that Dutch Elm dude was the best big man match I had seen in a long time. Well after seeing this match with Eric Matthew Somers, THIS was the best big man match I had seen in a long time. Granted it was really cool to see Team Canada again but I am a huge Dr. EMS fan. I was on the edge of my seat because I was all about Rough N'Ready winning the tag belts. They were fighting like crazy and I'm not sure I've seen more power moves in one match. EMS was going real strong but by the end, Grapes Gilmour broke out the hockey sticks and things nutted out. I was hoping the ref would allow it but unfortunately, Hextall and Jablonski got DQ'd for using the sticks on Somers. After the match, Somers and Cooper cleaned house as Team Canada headed to the back. WINNER BY DQ: Rough N'Ready SMASH BASH CRUCIFY CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE MATCH "THE SHOTGUN" STAN CRAWFORD © versus SIMON O'NEAL versus "HENTAI" RYU OSAWA Originally this was Crawford defending the belt against Osawa. But O'Neal came out and got a huge ovation. They went insane when O'Neal claimed that he did some homework and managed to get himself inserted into the main event. I was hoping it'd be a Blind Stipulation match as I've always wanted to see one of those live but no such luck. Crawford and Osawa talked it over with the ref but it boiled down to both men telling O'Neal to bring it on. Especially Crawford. I think he was still cheesed about losing his match against O'Neal on the last House of Bastards. The match started off hot, but somehow O'Neal managed to let Osawa and Crawford pound on each other for the bulk of it. They caught on however, and O'Neal got dragged back in. Crawford was trashing O'Neal like in their last match but this was countered when Osawa and O'Neal double teamed to push Crawford back. The end came after O'Neal went to blind Crawford with white powder, but he ducked and hit Osawa instead. Crawford used that opportunity to hit O'Neal with the 12 Gauge and cover for the win. WINNER AND STILL CHAMPION: Stan Crawford Afterwards, Shawni McKeznie thanked everyone for coming and we filed out of our seats and back to merchandise booths. Man there was slim pickings but I still managed to get a EMS T-shirt. I didn't see it earlier. It was a really cool show and hope to go to one again soon. -------------------- |
