I tell you what that damned Chris ahd better have a good excuse for keeping me in suspense for over a week. I know personal family stuff comes up but damned a week?!?!?!?! I wouldn't wait this long for my first born to start walking never mind to find out what happened on a wrestling show. Hell I can't even wait until Thursday to watch Smackdown, I always read the spoilers.

Alright, since we're just sitting here... how about a little question. What aspects and things on the card are you most eager to read? Your match with Jimmy Ami doesn't count, we all know you're going to squash the Lil Flamer. smile.gif

Steve.

Hehe actually to be completely honest I am really interested in seeing how well my latest attempt at a RP goes over as I put a lot more time and effort into this one than the last one.

Aside from that I am just looking forward to seeing how the rest of the PPV card gets worked out.

Mostly since I don't have the slightest idea what I am doing I really want to kind of study the RP's so I can learn how to better put one together on my own. I kinda am getting a grasp on the character a bit more now but movements and camera work still is hard for me to "get" so I jsut wnat to be able to pull of the kind of stuff you regulars seem to do on a weekly basis. I really am in awe.

Wow hard to belive someone with a "badass" character can kiss that much ass in just one post huh?

I'll say this. I didn't care for the first Gangsta Mac RP because of the dialogue and not the actual camera work and movement. The dialogue you used was too cliche and stereotypical.

One suggestion I can make for dialogue is to watch some movies of the gimmick you're trying to get over. If it's the gangasta, watch New Jack City, Boyz in the Hood, Higher Learning, Juice, that song Gangsta's Paradise was to (can't remember the name).

Watch those movies and listen to the dialogue being used and simply recreate that sort of vernacular and slang. The key is to _not_ over do it, which can be hard.

To answer your questions about camera angels and movement. Treat movement like body language. When you talk to your friends, you don't just say words to convey what you're saying. You use body language. You may emphasize a point by pointing. You may display non-interest by folding your arms across your chest and rolling your eyes. Seriously. Next time you're with a group of your friends, stay out of the conversation for awhile and watch how they communicate. I use to do this when I'd go to bars and get hammered because I was a communications major in college. If you're not sure what type of body language to use? Say the line yourself like you're the character and see what body language comes up. If none does, then don't use it.

As for camera angles... that's not really that hard. It's more of a trival thing too where it concerns RPs, in my opinion. That'll come to you in time and after reading some RPs.

Personally I think all that stuff is overrated. The camera angles, the little movements your character makes, whether the camera zooms in or out, none of it matters that much. I mean, yeah, it helps get a point across but personally I think what your character says and the message he's getting across is what makes the roleplay.

From past experience I can say that when I first entered the MLW with Stevie Erickson, I was way too hung up on the same minute details you're worried about. Now I'm more focused on what my character says and why he's saying it and who he's saying it to.

I'd agree with you on the camera angles, which I think I stated in my post. I think body language can add a bit as well. Is it of the upmost importance? No. Main reason I like to use it is to make the RP asthetically pleasing. I'd rather not have one huge paragraph for people to read through. I'm anal about using paragraph breaks when my guy is talking unless it's an action or something else.

Oh I definately agree about the paragraph breaks. I'm pretty anal about it. In fact, if you take a look at any Stevie role you'll notice two things:

1. The roleplay almost always takes place in front of a basic MLW banner or just somewhere in the locker room or backstage.

2. I make sure every pause, nod, smile, menacing stare is noted in the action brackets. I like to do that because it breaks up the paragraph and I think it sometimes can help drive the point home.
