Title: JTF Semi-Squaretablammies Awards!
Description: The Results for the '08 mid-years!

blibblab - July 2, 2008 05:04 AM (GMT)
Good-ish turnout, I guess... 24 ballots cast, which was better than the year end awards. I'm hoping to shoot for an even bigger turnout for the '08 year ends in... six... months [wow, time flies!]

Got a diverse-ish group - at least for the JTF Squaretable boards. I was thinking of doing commentary and stuff for the awards, but if I did that it would a) show ignorance on my part for some of the winners as I don't read all feds and b) take more time to release the awards. I will comment that there were nominated:

- 45 different heels
- 41 different faces
- 25 different matches
- 24 different shows
- 25 different managers
- 22 different announcers
- 22 different tag teams
- 15 different federations
- 72 different wrestlers

Nice numbers, showing that there's still plenty out there to follow.

Oh, also, since there was a better turn out, I figured I'd put up the Top 50 instead of the Top 25 [thanks to Mr. Hopper for the suggestion, which I originally dismissed, but figured at the last minute to do it anyway]. Of course, because of ties and such there's no official #50... and there's 51 in the top 50 - screwy ain't it?

So, here it is [in reverse order - a byproduct of the comments from last year, thank you!]:

Thanks Bren for putting this together. Always fun to read.

BigPoppaBuyrate - July 2, 2008 05:35 AM (GMT)
Nice work, Bren. Thanks for going through the effort.

Also, my thanks to anyone who cast a vote for any AWA match, show, wrestler, announcer, whatever! We do what we can so it's cool if people are diggin' it.

This also gives me an opportunity to blatantly shill AWA's THE BATTLE OF DALLAS coming up this weekend! Ricky Royal vs Tumaffi! The Russians vs Gregorson/Despair in a Russian Chain Match! Kentucky's Pride/Rick Marley vs Stevie Scott/Calisto Dufresne/Adrian Freeman! Plus, Marcus Broussard defends the National Title against the winner of a 10 man battle royal! OHHH THE SHILLAGE!

Oh, and I think Bucky Wilde might make an acceptance speech that night... or something. Stay tuned for that!

ProfessorDoran - July 2, 2008 12:25 PM (GMT)
The lack of Rick Perle in the announcer brackets is a shame, and takes some legitimacy away from these awards. However, Bucky Wilde is nothing less than a sensation in the broadcasting business.

BIG UPS TO BIG BUCKS!

And, a big thanks to Bren for stalking me in the PSU computer lab. And for putting these things together.

Thank you for taking the time out for doing this... I hope there was a good showing from quite a few number of feds. Congratulations to all the winners there is still a lot of good e-w out there right now.

Hrm... Pollack Laptop Library? Warrick? Warnock? West? East? Pattee? Or the ever elusive South Halls?

Hopper - July 2, 2008 12:38 PM (GMT)
Great work Bren. Thanks a bunch!

Invader3K - July 2, 2008 12:53 PM (GMT)
Nice work. A lot of deserving people on there!

orklad - July 2, 2008 02:15 PM (GMT)
Yeah...WHICH PSU computer lab...I skulked around in South's or Pollack's back in my day.

Mucho kudos to Bren and all those getting recognized...and to those of you that voted for The Spectre over Tumaffi...y'all are crazy.

:P

And an idea for commentary on the year ends: either ask the fed head for something for the top few guys, or Pedro...he reviews most of the feds on JTF at one point or another...he might be in a spot to offer some third party perspective on the guys who get the awards.

(notice me increasing other people's workloads...I'm so nice!)

ElNietoDelRickJames - July 2, 2008 05:00 PM (GMT)
Ryan Faith is glad to accept his 47th ranking. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It sure was an impressive 2008 debut of his :)

Manbearpig - July 2, 2008 07:12 PM (GMT)
I for one am shocked.....

I never thought in a MILLION years Chase would end up where he did. I guess more people appreciate my work than I ever would've imagined.

Thanks guys... Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside... lol

Good work Bren, its much appreciated, to everyone who voted for Chase Williams, I thank you.... And to the PVW, LETS KEEP UP THE AMAZING WORK!!

Now if we could just get PJG on track again as well.... Mike... :P

Good showing this year! I think it's awesome that we can see such a diversity in the Mid Years... that just means that we all need to start following a new fed or two or maybe some inter-fed angles might need to be played out...

Anywho, I wanted to say thanks to everyone who voted for Kinkaid. He's been my first face character ever and been a lot of fun to try new things out with. Thanks to all who kept up with his spastic and chaotic life!! You've made it fun for me to try out new things!

Also congrats to everyone who made the list... there are some really amazing talents out there!

Dubba-FO'! Dubba-Fo'! I got Dubba' Fo'!!!! Just call me Billy Dee and hand me a Colt' .44... or was that .45? Well... in this case, it's a .44!!!! WOOOHOOO!!!!!

AsH/Derek Weaver - July 3, 2008 11:13 PM (GMT)
Dammit! Who had the lack of sense to vote for me over guys like Mark Pure, Bryant McCoy, GVZ, and Essex?!

Thanks though, but you should read their stuff over AsH and Weaver.

Much better.
