IT DEPENDS ON YOUR DEFINITION OF A DRIFT.
If a drift is all about the "look" of a car getting sideways, then YES... and FF COULD drift in your opinion. If a drift is based more on the techniques and physics behind drifting- then no.. an FF could not probably drift. _____ the BIGGEST difference in FF (and awd for the most part) and Rwd drifting: an FR is able to MAINTAIN the drift for an potential infinite amount of time. the FF, is NOT. The only an FF driver can get a high enough angle to drift really (on dry normal road here people!) is by locking up the back tires. The ONLY thing that will "continue" that drift is the momentum pushing the back end out- once that momentum dies.. the drift does with it. On a side note: FF drifting does not even look like rwd drifting at all. Their speeds, angles, and timings are MUCH different- when you know what to look for in a "good drift" this difference becomes obvious, and IMO very sloppy/ugly. |

my definition of drifting is getting your car sideways...any car can do that. and yeah FF, and FR drift differently, and I've said before the FR definitely drift better, and have more control. But just saying FF can drift, just not well :D
But I dunno, I'm not a fan of FF, not sure why someone would pick FF over a FR or AWD . Personally my style of driving favors oversteer to understeer, since oversteer you can correct, OR, if you're in trouble, help you to spin out in an emergency. Oh and you can use the accelerator to control. With understeer you....really can't do jack about it...you can jab at your brakes, but if you're in REAL trouble, then all you can do is hope your reflexes can use your e-brake fast enough before your rear end slaps into the wall on the other side. And you can't accelerate to help the situation, and braking would only cause your wheels to lock anyways. |
