How far away does the UVB have to be from the iggy? I have heard a lot of different things on this.

<12 inches is the best. It does start to fade a little after 12. Don't make it over 18 though because it really starts to fade after that.

Also you can't have anything in between the light and the iguana, like glass or plastic. It stops UVB from getting to your ig.

Thanks everyone. It's not blocked by glass. I'll lower it a bit.

My iguana's light fixture is inside his cage in a corner.
It kinda bothers me, because he can climb OVER the fixture.
Is it normal, or okay to have the light where he can touch it?

It's really not good for them to be able to climb over it or touch it. You could make a box out of chicken wire to protect him from the light. But don't leave it that way - thermal burns are hard to treat. Iguanas don't have many pain sensors on their stomachs sense they have evolved to bask in an everhead heat source. If he lays on the light, he probably won't even notice he's been burned until it gets really bad.

if u are using a mega ray you can go farther then 12 inches. In fact 12 inches is the minimum distance recommended for the mega ray. Also the bulb does not get extremely hot as it is only 60 watts in the Mega ray E B 60 watt version.
