Welcome to the FUNimation Channel come to Canada thread, where updates and news about the FUNimation Channel coming to Canada will be posted.
Known information:
At their Anime North panel last year, FUNimation marketing director Lance Heiskell said that FUNi working on expanding the availability of the FUNimation Channel into Canada.
From May on FUNimation Channel's Facebook page, we have been told "We do plan to expand to Canada at some point in the near future" and "We will get there eventually".
September 14th, FUNimation,
on their Facebook account, is stating that the FUNimation Channel is about to meet with Rogers Communications in Canada.
Hopefully Rogers will help get the FUNimation Channel to be available in Canada.

Is there any information on whether they're looking to bring the linear or on-demand channel over to Canada? Hopefully we won't end up with another Anime Network.

I wonder how the CRTC would feel about the linear channel ... It's not like it would have any conflict with an existing Canadian service, since Corus's Anime Channel license was revoked.

Anime on Canadian television has really taken a beating to the point it's almost dead (YTV has gone back to the edited for children anime), ever since the Bionix block was moved to Saturday nights, reduced, and killed off silently. I don't really watch YTV anymore because of it.
A FUNimation channel would be a great start to bringing back anime that aren't edited for kids.

I suspect that if it comes they will have to edit what they show to a certain degree due to the various CRTC regulations.
It won't be the awful edits and localization like 4kids did but it won't be untouched for sure.

Eh, unless they're airing Rin at 4PM, given this will likely be a digital-only obscure tier channel I doubt they'll have to edit things if they make their CRTC submission clear on whom the target demo is.
