Signature I am one of the last of my age. The gift – or curse – of Isteanoc’s bloodline is longevity. I am only twenty-eight scores old, mere moments compared to the millennia lived by Suliantig or Altoda, but still nearly five hundred years longer than some of my friends. We were the legends of our time. Indeed, the names of Afrin, Suligan and Akula still inspire many today. They hail us as legends and heroes, but alas, the true legends died years ago. My father, the legendary Allysulia-Patriarch-Elephande, was the greatest of those heroes, but he left our realm at the end of the Third Strife. My father…He was a savior to Chilaquand. He pulled his people from the depths of Dwindler’s War to the height of their power before the Third Battle of Chilaquand. We had strong allies then: General Cain Falcane, leader of Zancron; Supreme Commander Sulit-Aladan of the Dreg; General Iishe and his Haldrian following, Elidion’s Army, and the Company of Anegon. The Company was the first group I brought into the Alliance of Frontain, as it would be called. They helped me through my first test as a leader, and influenced many battles. Actually, to say they influenced battles is an understatement. Their leader, the General of Anegon, dealt a powerful blow to help my uncle, Elephade Zambiandë, defeat his former mentor. Two years later, my father’s homeland of Chilaquand fell under attack. In that battle, the ancient force of Istean and the Forgotten Monarchs of Frontain, of which my father is one, were added to our list of allies. Again, the Company helped change the course of history. The General defeated Askinqua in single combat, sacrificing his life to save the Alliance of Frontain. The deeds of the General and his friends will be remembered by my people for ages, their deeds immortalized in the statues of Relenda’s Avenue of the Company. It is only a small gift for their sacrifice, but it is the best I have to give. I do not have much time left. Soon, I will journey to the land where the Company stays: the home of my forefathers. My son, Neimeis, is ready to take my place when I am gone, but I have doubts in my mind about his abilities. That, however, is a story I don’t have time to tell. With the time remaining to me, I shall tell you the story of the Company and the events at the beginning of the Fourth Strife.
