Fawn Quinn Heathers sat on a bench, her small legs brought up so she was sitting cross legged on the bench. She was a small thing, only 4'5" tall at the most and entirely doll like in nature. Even her wide blue eyes were doll like in nature, and quite dark. She was something quite cute to most people and quite out of place on a college campus. Still, she did belong there. She was 18 years old and she was completely and utterly smart enough to be there.

She was settled there waiting for her next class to start, a big backpack full of books sitting next to her on the bench. She also had a drink her in hands, a hot chocolate to be exact. She adored hot chocolate, though it wasn't great for her so she didn't eat it often. She just liked the taste and the texture of it. She wanted nothing more then to sit and enjoy her hot chocolate and maybe talk a bit to those that stopped to chat. So far a few people from her classes had done so and she'd gotten a bunch of weird looks. She couldn't blame anyone, she knew she looked about 12 years old compared to all these fully grown college students.

She sighed and smiled, curling her hands around the cup and enjoying the heat it gave off. The day wasn't quite cold but there was a bit of wind that chilled you when it picked up. Her small frame was covered in her usual style of clothing, in a soft blue today. And then she had a blue knitted poncho over that and a purple scarf to keep her warm. She wasn't designed for cold temperatures, though being able to curl her tail up and over her hands certainly helped to keep those warm.

Elian hated crowds; he always hated the way he felt trapped when he was in one. That was why he found himself walking around large groups of students rather than walking through them. Even though he wasn't in any crowds, his nerves were slightly on edge. His pale leopard tail flicked back and forth behind him, showing his distress.
Elian was glad that he'd have a few minutes to relax before going to class. If he was going to face a large groups of students, he wanted to prepare. Coming from around yet another student group, Elian noticed a bench. A small, young looking girl had settled on the bench but no other students were around. He let out a sigh of relief and started towards the bench. "Uh...do you mind if I sit here?" He asked as he reached the bench.

Darky - October 4, 2011 01:50 AM (GMT)
Fawn looked up at the sound of a voice and gave a wide and friendly smile. "Not all!" she told him, patting the bench next to her with a small hand. "Please, make yourself comfortable. I'm always happy to share a bench with anyone. Besides, its not really my bench anyway." She smiled happily at him and moved her bag out of the way, shifting slightly to provide more room for him as well, though there was already plenty of room.

She smiled at him, noticing the nervous way he watched the crowds. She agreed with him about the crowds, it was better to avoid them though for her it was more she was to small to be in them. She'd get her tail stepped on for sure and get pushed around on accident. "I'm Fawn by the way," she told him, holding her hand out. "Who are you?"

Umbra - October 4, 2011 10:23 PM (GMT)
Elian smiled slightly at the girl's enthusiasm. His tail twitched before he sat down next to her as she moved her backpack. "Thanks. It may not be your bench, but you never know when someone might want to be alone." Elian shrugged afterwards, neatly organizing his few books on his lap. He hadn't quite managed to relax yet, but talking to someone might help.
"I'm Elian," he replied, shaking the offered hand. Once he released it, he leaned back a bit, staring at the sky. "Fawn's a nice name." He wondered if he should comment on how it seemed more likely to be a name for a deer hybri but decided not to. "What are you majoring in?"

Darky - October 5, 2011 01:13 AM (GMT)
Fawn smiled happily at the man and nodded, giggling cheerily as he spoke. She knew it was true, plenty of people could be angry about who decided to sit where. Especially with the hybri, they were even more prone to being territorial with each other and touchy about who was near them. But she never cared, she liked everyone and loved the chance to make friends. "That's quite true, especially with us hybri," she murmured, shaking her head. "We've a tendency to be a little more touchy about things like that I think. Still, I don't particularly care. I rather like meeting new people."

She looked at him and shook his hand in return, twisting on the bench to sit ore facing him. "Thanks," she stated, waiting for the usual comment but it never came. "And thanks even more for not making the usual comment. To many people tell me I should be a deer." She shook her head and sighed, brightening again as he asked about what she was taking. "Not really sure, something in the science and probably to do with biology or hybri themselves. What about you?"

Umbra - October 6, 2011 02:22 AM (GMT)
Elian nodded as Fawn spoke of hybri who valued their personal space. He disliked being around larger numbers of people, but he was fine around one or two. He wasn't sure whether that was due to his animal DNA or not though.
He smiled as Fawn mentioned how many people told her she should be a deer, glad that he had decided to omit that comment. "It's not like you can choose your name anyways. Nicknames maybe, but not names." His eyes flicked down towards Fawn without moving his head. "You've got more of an idea than I have. For my major that is. I haven't decided quite yet. I might end up majoring in english maybe. It's pretty hard to decide."

Darky - October 6, 2011 02:34 AM (GMT)
Fawn smiled at her and giggled lightly, and nodding her head a bit. She was certainly one to know that quite well, she didn't have a choice in what name her parents had given her but she could pick what people called her. "Yeah, that is quite true," she admitted, laughing a little louder at that. "If I had then I certainly wouldn't have gone with Fawn in these times. I think my parents did it because they found it amusing to call me that when others are around. Everyone makes jokes about how I should be a deer and not a sugar glider. But I prefer what I am." That was certainly true, she really did love being a sugar glider. Sure it made her look incredibly small but she also just really liked being small. And her fur and hair were so soft, she got a lot of attention for that at times. "Well, that's why we're all here, right?" she asked him. "I mean, we're all just trying to figure out what we want to do. Its not like you've got to know right away or anything like that."

Umbra - October 7, 2011 11:24 PM (GMT)
Elian smiled gently as Fawn laughed about her given name. He was much more relaxed now, almost as if he hadn't walked through crowds to get there. He enjoyed talking to her and it was much more comfortable than sitting in a room listening to a teacher drone on.
He gave a small nod as Fawn told him that she loved being a sugar glider. He had been wondering what type of animal DNA she did have. "It's good that you're comfortable with yourself. DNA-wise anyway. My little sister has always wanted to be a hybri instead of human." Elian shook his head, as if that could rid him of his thoughts of her. "And I suppose I do have time to decide. I'm just worried I'll choose something and won't like it later on."

Darky - October 8, 2011 12:11 AM (GMT)
Fawn smiled at him and nodded her agreement. "I couldn't agree more!" she admitted, laughing a little. "Its always hard if you haven't accepted who you are. Speaking of which, what DNA are you if you don't mind me asking?" She smiled at him and then frowned a little as he explained about his sister, worrying about what he said. "That's not good, I hope she comes to accept that she's human at some point. It really isn't healthy to want to be something you aren't. Like those people that get surgery to become like a hybri but they aren't really one." She sighed and shook her head, and then brightened again. "Well! That's the good thing about school, you can change your mind," she told him. "If you're not happy with what you're doing then you can change and do something else."

Umbra - October 9, 2011 09:21 PM (GMT)
Elian was glad that Fawn seemed to understand what he was talking about, even if he wasn't very eloquent with his words. "I've got african leopard DNA." His ears twitched as if to indicate his meaning. "I don't know if my sister will ever get over being human. I can imagine her getting surgery to become a hybri. She's already got fake ears."
Elian shrugged, not exactly in the mood to worry over his sister. "Yeah, that is true. I'll just keep changing my mind until I figure it out. And take all the basic courses for now."

Darky - October 16, 2011 07:50 AM (GMT)
Fawn smiled brightly at him and nodded. "That's so cool! I always wonder what it would be like to be a predator via DNA," she admitted, shrugging her shoulders. "I mean, I'm just prey based off DNA. I'm not predatory based off my DNA, just a little prey animal that likes to lurk hang about with others but is scared easily." She smiled and shook her head, sighing. She really did not understand the desire of some people to be what others were not. She didn't want to be human, even if there were plenty of people that hated hybri. There were plenty of people of every kind that hated another for some reason or another. "Personally I could never understand doing something like that," she murmured. "But I suppose its their choice what they do."

She nodded her head to his words. "And I think that's a good way to go about it," she admitted. "There's nothing wrong with not knowing what you want to do or anything. Life is all about exploration and discovery. So its fine to still be finding your path."

Umbra - November 5, 2011 07:15 PM (GMT)
Elian smiled a bit at Fawn's delight in his animal DNA. The part about predator and prey according to DNA confused him slightly. He understood the underlying implications, but he didn't think it made that much of a difference. Some predator hybri were more aggressive or had other predator related quirks, but Elian had yet to meet a hybri any worse than that. He pointed it out to Fawn anyways. "Predator or prey DNA aside, we're all human, even if it is to varying degrees." He half laughed at himself, his ear flicking in self-doubt. "Or maybe I just think it's that way because I grew up with humans."
He decided that now was a great time to drop the conversation about his sister. He still wasn't sure why he had decided to mention her in the first place. She was far too complicated a subject to discuss in casual conversation.

Darky - November 5, 2011 10:36 PM (GMT)
Fawn smiled at him and laughed lightly, nodding her head. She'd grown up around humans as well but she still had some pretty out there thoughts. "I suppose that is true," she admitted. "We all are human as a base. We're just simply humans but then we have this DNA added to us. Which is just really crazy at times. And, well, the DNA comes from all different types of animals. And these animals all have a base they are. Like, say, mine. A sugar glider is not a predatory animal, it doesn't feed off other animals so it has no need for a killing instinct. But, well, something like a tiger would have a killing edge to it. And that might leek out into a human from the DNA. But, well, that's all just crazy ideas on my part. I don't know if I'm right or anything like that." She met his eyes with a wide smile on her face. Personally she didn't think it made them good or bad, but it did make them different.

Umbra - January 21, 2012 07:43 PM (GMT)
Elian opened his mouth to reply but was cut off by the bell tower on campus ringing the hour. He looked down at his watch to confirm the time before jumping up. "I'm late," he muttered to himself before turning to Fawn. "I have a class that started five minutes ago to go to." He gave her a small smile he hoped was appologetic. "I'm sorry. Maybe we can have another talk sometime?" He stood there half facing in the direction of the building. He should really get to class, but he wanted to get some type of response before leaving.

Darky - January 30, 2012 06:37 AM (GMT)
Fawn blinked in surprise as the clock tower tolled. She nearly squeaked and jumped off the bench, but managed to stay on the bench. She jumped to her feet and pulled the bag up and slipped it onto her shoulder. "Oh man!" she cried, looking at him. "I'm totally late as well! By the same time actually." She smiled a little at him and laughed, glancing around and then starting towards the building he was half facing. "You going this way as well?" she asked. "Perhaps the two of us should just walk together?"

Umbra - January 31, 2012 12:24 AM (GMT)
Elian could feel his eyebrows raise as Fawn admitted that she was late for a class as well. A small part of him wondered if maybe Fawn would be in his class as well, but that seemed rather far fetched. It wasn't as if the building didn't have any other classes going on at the same time.
He shrugged in response to her request before adding, "We might as well, since we're already late anyways."

Darky - January 31, 2012 01:51 AM (GMT)
Fawn smiled at him and nodded, giggling. "True, at least this way we have someone to walk with over there," she admitted. "I always prefer to be late if I'm not the only one who is late. But I suppose I might be this time. I do try to be on time mostly, but things happen." She pulled her little shoulders up in a shrug and glanced sideways at him as she started to walk. "So, what class are you going to?" she asked, honestly curious as to what his next class was.

Umbra - February 13, 2012 01:29 AM (GMT)
Elian grinned a bit as they started walking. "That's true." He sighed a bit as he shifted his books to hold them more comfortably. " I don't like being late at all. It's especially mortifying if a room of people stare at you." Elian's tail twitched slightly at the thought of facing that crowd alone.
"I'm headed to English 101. What about you?" He asked, glancing over at Fawn.

Darky - March 5, 2012 08:15 AM (GMT)
Fawn grinned from ear to ear and nodded her head. This was turning out to be a rather fun day. She had thought it boring and now she was meeting someone new and interesting. Though his words did make her shiver. The very idea of it bringing and blush to her cheeks and her ears dropped slightly. Her tail flicked about and curled around her own leg, still quivering as if it was also embarrassed at the idea.
"Oh yes, that is just horrible!" she admitted, nodding. "I can't stand it when I do that. And then I have to walk all the way to my seat! Its bad enough being so short and looking like I'm five. I get so many looks and comments for it. I don't need the added looks of me being late."
She glanced at him and stared for a moment, surprise written across her face. "Really?" she asked. "I'm going there as well."

Umbra - March 30, 2012 11:50 PM (GMT)
Elian's grin widened as Fawn told him she was attending the same class. "At least we don't have to walk into class alone."
He adjusted the position of his books again, thinking that maybe this class wouldn't be too bad. "Things are better with friends, right?" He glanced over at Fawn before quickly looking away. He wasn't sure if Fawn would consider them friends, but it was a start at least.

Darky - April 13, 2012 06:35 AM (GMT)
Fawn brightened as he spoke, giving an eager nod of her head. She couldn't have agreed more with him in that moment. She would have given anything to not have to walk into class alone and now she didn't have to, so that was one thing down. "Yes, yes, it is very nice to have someone to walk into class with," she told him eagerly. Her attention was caught by a few passing Hybri and she watched them go. In some ways she wished she was a different animal, at least then she wouldn't be so small, but she also loved her animal side.
Her attention snapped back to Elian and a very eager and happy look came to her face. "Oh yes of course! It is so much better to have a friend," she murmured, nodding. "I'm more then happy to be able to call you friend and attend class with you."
