[Miranda Pike]

"Huh?" came the quiet response as Miranda looked up at the Gryffindor girl. A few emotions were now visible in the younger one's eyes... Confusion, pain, hate, utter darkness... and despite that, innnocence.

[Lexi Stevens]

"I asked if you were okay..." Lexi said sensing that Miranda was far from okay.
She felt a bit worried at the emotions reflected in the younger girl's eyes and wondered what it all meant.

[Miranda Pike]

"Yeah," Miranda responded, putting on a fake smile. Looking at the broken globe, she said, "I should probably clean this up," to no one in particular. The eleven-year-old girl began carefully picking up the glass peices and putting them back into the box.

'I'll figure this out... But I can't bring Lexi into it...' she mentally told herself.

[Lexi Stevens]

"Then let me help." Lexi said bending down to help her, as she did so she said in a gentle monotone "Miranda something's wrong...I can see it in your eyes. What's going on?"

[Miranda Pike]

Miranda was silent until all the glass was picked up and she was placing the globe back into the box. Finally her hushed and fearful response was, "I don't know."

[Lexi Stevens]

"you don't know?" Lexi repeated..."ok well, I think you should figure it out soon, not to be rude or pushy but these days anything bothering us could be detrimental to our safety here." she placed a hand on Miranda's arm and said "If you ever want to talk, you know I'm always here."

[Miranda Pike]

Biting her bottom lip, Miranda closed the box. She hestantly looked into Lexi's eyes and said, "Thank you." She knew that her friend was right, but decided to put it off to another time. Preferably one with less people around.

[Lexi Stevens]

Lexi sat back down and tried to concentrate but she couldn't. She had a bad feeling that wasn't going away.

OOC- Surely... only you have to start the role-play this time. ^^

BIC- Miranda placed her own hand on her arm where Lexi's had been. 'Maybe this all has something to do with those weird dreams...' thought the young girl.

BIC- Lexi felt a bit sick and she hoped class would be over soon "what is going on?" she thought

Miranda looked at her injured hand, clearly in pain. 'No, I can't ask for help... I don't want to seem annoying. I'll just deal with it later... Oh, I have to remember to wash Lexi's hankerchief and give it back to her. I hope it won't be ruined by the time class is out, and I couldn't give it back now all bloody... Am I the only one who didn't get something nice out of their box?' Her thoughts were random as she gazed around the classroom, and stopped at the professor, wondering what her reaction to all this would be.

Aurora had been watching the students as they opened their gifts. Her gaze had been directed to a couple of weapons, and uttered a quick warning, "Etana, Vincent, weapons are frowned upon in school. Do take care that you keep them safely locked away, lest they fall into the wrong hands."

She stepped back to see what else was transpiring, for she felt a change in the atmosphere. It didn't take liong to notice the small Slytherin girl with a broken trinket, a large handkercheif, and a dark expression.

She repaired the globe, cleaned the hankie, and healed Miranda's wound with one flick of her wrist. She knel;t beside the young girl, and whispered a slight inquiry, "Miranda, do you need someone to talk to? I know at your age the desire to be independent and simply normal is overwhelming, but I might know a thing or two that could help." Her tone was light, her eyes soft and open. She never could resist to try to help any student in trouble.

Lexi watched the professor as she helped Miranda and silently hoped that Miranda would take her up on her offer. She dropped her head in her hands and rubbed her forhead...waching.

Miranda lightly nodded to the professor, not really knowing what to say. "Thank you for everything," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Aurora stood and addressed the class, "Okay I think that's enough excitement for one day, You may all go. Please bring a bouquet of flowers with you tomorrow."

She turned to Miranda, "You know my door is open, anytime you feel you need to talk, okay!" she shot the girl a reassuring grin, she didn't feel pity for her, instead a feeling of reminiscing washed over her, as she remembered her own fateful childhood. Growing up as a half elf was an experience! Surely she could empathize with anything the girl was facing.

Lexi silently gathered her things and left without looking back.
She had an odd feeling...seeing something beautiful destroyed in an instant reminded her of how quickly one could be killed.

[briena rose]

Briena packed her things. " Good bye professer" she said in a low and quite voice. She walked out the door.

Serena looked at her gift for another minute or 2. Then stood up and walk out the door but lowly said " Thank you professer."
