Personality:
Castiel doesn’t show emotion as much as humans who have had emotion all of their lives. However, he does vocalize the emotion. He has patience as his fellow brother and sisters tend to run on a different schedule than humans do. Cas differs from other angels that have been cut off from Heaven. He has been forced to learn more about the human ways and he is very helpful to Sam and Dean. He has devoted himself to the boys and it is important to him that he can assist in some way.

One expression that can be found on Cas’ face is when referring to pop culture. This happens and Cas usually response with a face of confusion and he tilts his head slowly indicating that he doesn’t understands and oftend asks for clarification or he will change the subject. He has come to understand how sarcasm works after spending a lot of time with Dean. Nevertheless, pop culture or any form of technology has got him speechless and is a very terrible liar.

OVERALL HISTORY:

Castiel is an angel of the lord and a soldier which means that he is one of the grunts of the army of the Lord. Castiel has never stepped on Earth until he was ordered to grab Dean Winchester out of Hell. He does this and thinks that Dean is one of those special can see him physically. However, he is clearly wrong about this and decides to go and get a vessel. He then starts with his vessel into doing things in order to prove his faith and the vessel Jimmy Novak does what he is told. Castiel then asks him if it is okay for him to possess his body and Jimmy says yes. This then starts Castiel’s journey on Earth.

When Castiel meets Dean for the time it isn’t a very pleasure site. Dean shoots him with rock salt which has no effect and Castiel is stabbed by a demon’s knife which also has no effect. Castiel then touches Bobby on the forehead and causes him to pass out. Castiel then is questioned by Dean on what he is. He then goes on to explain what he is and that he is occupying a vessel. The next time Castiel visits Dean is in a dream and confirms the spirits who attacked them were the Witnesses which are part of the Book of Revelations in which are starting the Apocalypse. He then goes on to explain to Dean about the seals and how the angels are fighting to keep the other seals from getting open and Lucifer raising.

Later, Castiel sends Dean back to 1973 in order for him to met his parents when they were. The purpose of this was to show Dean the truth of what happened with Mary Winchester and Azazel. He also informs Dean that Sam is headed down a dangerous road and if Dean doesn’t stop him the angels will. Eventually, Castiel meets Sam and stats that Sam is no longer using his powers. He then reveals that they are going to destroy the town because of a witch and he advises Sam and Dean to leave. However, Dean and Sam argue that they can find it and kill it. Castiel ignores this and leaves. Later, it is revealed that Sam uses his powers to send the witch: Samhain to Hell. Castiel appears to Dean and explains what his true orders which were to follow Dean’s.

Castiel and his colleague Uriel appear and deman that Sam and Dean hand over Anna. He informs the two brothers that she has to die. However, as Uriel say something the boys protest and Castiel attacks as Castiel attacks there is a bright light and he is repelled and disappear. Castiel reappears with Uriel and they are about to take Anna when the demons appear. Castiel faces off with Alastair and lands several blows as he tries to cast the demon into the Pit. However, it proves to be not working and Castiel is pinned to the ground. Eventually, Castiel is saved when Dean hits the demon with a tire iron.

During one time Castiel pretends to be Bobby and tells Sam by phone about a scenario described in a version of the Book of Revelations. It is then leaked that it is one of the sixty-six seals that will be broken if two reapers are killed under a solstice moon. Castiel needs Sam and Dean to prevent to the killing because the demons responsible are held up in refuge covered with Enochain Sigils that prevent angels from entering. The boys successfully prevent the seal from being broken and Castiel captures Alastair.

Next time Castiel and Uriel encounter the boys is asking Dean for him to torture Alastair, so they can identify which demon has been killing the angels. However, Dean refuses but he is later transported to the site where Alastair is being kept. Castiel and Dean speak and Castiel explains to Dean that he is placed under Uriel’s authority because the angels think that he becoming emotionally involved with the Winchester and they believe this to impair his judgment. Castiel then goes on to explain to Dean that the angles rather than want him to do this. Castiel watches on as Dean goes into the room to torture Alastair.

Soon enough while Dean is torturing Alastair, Anna arrives and attempts to convince Castiel that forcing Dean to torture is morally wrong and that the orders shouldn’t have been God’s. However, Castiel is uncertain and Castiel learns from Anna that she had doubts before she left Heaven and that she tries to persuade him to fall. However, he backs away and tells her that they have nothing in common and tells her to leave. While he tells Anna that Alastair is freed from the devil’s trap. Castiel enters the room and attempts to fight him, but Alastair has the upper hand and manages to trap him.

Once trapped Alastair begins to chant a demonic spell to send Castiel back to Heaven; however, as he starts it Sam interrupts Alastair by using his demonic powers thus saving Castiel. Alastair is then killed by Sam and insists that no demon is responsible for the deaths of the angels. Later, Castiel goes to the hospital and confronts Sam. Sam assures to Castiel that Alastair was not lying. After incident Castiel meets up with Uriel and they talk about something is wrong in Heaven. After the talk with Uriel Castiel calls upon Anna and tells her that he is considering disobedience and does not believe it is good. He is later informed to make his own decisions.


Castiel returns to the warehouse where Alastair was being kept and finds that a leaky pipe enabled Alastair to escape from the Devil’s trap. While he is examining the trap Uriel arrives and Castiel declares that a demon could not have defeated it. He then demands to know the truth about what was going on and he gets it. He learns that Uriel was the one behind the deaths of the angels and that he hopes Lucifer to rise and humanity to be destroyed. Uriel attempts to recruit Castiel as Castiel attacks him. Castiel is brought to his knees as Anna arrives saving Castiel from Uriel.

He later visits Dean in the hospital and confirms that Dean’s actions in Hell result in the breaking of the first seal. Later, Castiel comes to the rescue when he reveals that Chuck is a Prophet of God and that Chuck must not be harmed. Castiel then appears to Dean when he is praying. He admits to Dean that he pleased by the sign of faith and with that Dean asks for help in preventing what Chuck has predicted. Castiel refuses to help, but he gives some advise that Chuck is watched by an archangel that will annihilate any threat to the prophet including a demon like Lilith.

The next time Castiel encounters Dean is in a dream. He tells him that the two of them need to meet in the real world because he needs to tell him something. However, after that Castiel is forced back to Heaven leaving his vessel behind. Castiel then saves his vessel from demons by taking over his daughter. He then tells Jimmy that he will be rewarded for his services and that he will rest in the fields of Heaven. However, Jimmy gives him a dying plea and asks him to use him as a vessel instead of his daughter. Castiel agrees and takes him as his vessel again. Dean then asks Castiel what he wanted to tell him. However, Castiel tells Dean that he learned his lesson and that he follows Heaven’s orders and not Man’s.

Eventually, Castiel reappears when Dean calls on Castiel to know if Sam is capable of killing Lilith. Castiel tells him yes, but that consuming the amount of demon blood required would make him inhuman. Castiel then reiterates that the angels believe Dean and stop the Apocalypse and asks Dean if he will accept the role. Dean agrees and swears fealty and obedience to God and the angels at Castiel’s insistence. Later Castiel appears at Bobby’s house secretly and uses his powers to release Sam from the bonds and open the door to the panic room as Sam escapes Castiel leaves and is visited by Anna at a waterfront. He is confronted by his actions and that he was following orders and she is later captured by the other angels.

Castiel and his new boss hold Dean in a place called the Green Room waiting for the lovely Apocalypse to start. However, Castiel starts getting nervous and helps Dean. He later disobyies the orders as Dean wants to know where Sam is. The two argue and later Castiel appears with a knife and starts cutting his forearms. He then teleports Dean to Chuck's house and ask Chuck where the battle will be. However, as they do this the archangel that is protecting Chuck starts to appear. Chuck tells Dean where Sam is at and Castiel sends Dean to the place. Castiel then waits with Chuck to confront the archangel. Castiel is then later killed by the archangel.

However, Castiel is brought back by God or what he assumes is God and kills two fellow angels in order to save the boys. He orders Zachariah away and carves Enochian sigils into Sam and Dean’s ribs to hide them from all angels including Lucifer. Days later Castiel returns to the brothers and reveals his plans to find God. He then asks Dean if he could borrow Dean’s amulet and he disappears to find God.
Castiel goes to various places looking for God. He encounters, Raphael and asks him where God is and gets the answer he wasn’t looking for. He then ends up saving Dean from Zachariah as Zachariah is still trying to get Dean to say ‘Yes’ to Michael.

Flash forward to a few months, Castiel then goes and assists the Winchester’s retrieve the Colt and joins them on the hunt for Lucifer. However, he ventures off after discovering hundreds of Reapers are already in the town. He goes in hope of discovering what has called them there he is soon imprisoned by Lucifer. Lucifer attempts to join him. However, Castiel refuses and manages to set himself free at the same time he finds that he doesn’t have the ability to kill demons. He finds Sam and Dean as they have failed in their attempt to kill Lucifer. Castiel teleports them to safety.

Sam and Dean are killed and Castiel is unable to return to Heaven and briefly communicates with them. He tells them that they need to find the angel Joshua who communicates directly with God. However, the boys relay the message that God is apathetic to the Apocalypse and having saved the brothers and Castiel. He reveals that God is alive and feels that he had done enough. Therefore, Castiel starts to drink heavily and starts to lose faith. Castiel helps Sam to keep Dean from becoming Michael’s vessel. However, he leaves when he hears a signal from the angel and finds a resurrected Adam Milligan who happens to be the half brother of Dean and Sam. He attacks Dean when he tries to contact the angels. Castiel believes his rebellion from Heaven is worthless. Later, he carves a banishing sigil into his own chest and activates it when in the presence of multiple angels. The effects of the sigil sends him to the fishing boat and now is human. Despite this he helps defeat the Horseman Pestilence and assist Bobby and Sam from preventing the nationwide distribution of the Croatioan virus.

Castiel is finally killed again with interfering with Lucifer’s confrontation with Michael. Castiel is brought back as an angel again with more power and believes that Heaven is in disarray with Michael gone and decides to help restore order. He has been following Heaven’s orders; however, slightly favors Dean’s order and is currently on the search for Mephistopheles.
