OVERALL HISTORY:John Eric Winchester was born on April 22nd, 1954 to Eric and Jaclyn Winchester in South Bend, Indiana. John’s father joined the service after John was born and the family moved around. John was raised as a Navy brat who meant that he was used to moving and never exactly stayed in the same place more than two years. John really never had the proper childhood, but he managed to get into trouble like every other child his age. By the time he was ten his father got out of the service and the family settled in Lawrence, Kansas. John’s father worked as a mechanic and his mother was teacher. His mother died of cancer and his father raised him.
John learned about the family business from his father and learned how to become a mechanic. For some reason, he wanted to become a fighter pilot for the military. By the time he was eighteen he enlisted into the Marines. He was determined to become a pilot, but really didn’t make it because of some issues. He fought some battles in Vietnam and enjoyed his time as a Marine. He got out of the service and met Mary. He also co-owned a garage with Mike Guenther. He then started to date Mary and the two become lovers. The two would later marry. John bought the couple a car 1967 Chevy Impala.
Soon the couple would welcome two sons. Dean was the oldest by four years and Sam was the youngest. On November 2nd, 1983 John’s life changed. John heard his wives’ screams and wasn’t sure how to react as he appeared in Sam’s bedroom he didn’t see Mary until there was blood dripping into Sam’s bed. When he looked up he saw Mary she had a big wound across her stomach and he just stared in shock unaware about what to do as Mary ignites in flames. So he grabs Sam handing him to Dean and tells him to run very fast. John later meets up with the boys and they watch their house burn down from the hood of the Impala.
The only thing John wants out of this whole ordeal is revenge and starts to do the whole hunting business thing. He raises his sons on the road. They never stay in the same place more than once. He also taught his boys about the hunting business. Sometimes he would leave his boys home alone. During those various times, he met various people, but most of the time he did his hunting by himself. During one of his hunts he met a nurse named Kate Milligan and the two had a little relationship John was unaware that he had fathered a child. He didn't meet the kid until he was 12 and he started to do activities that he never had done with Sam and Dean.
John and Sam had their differences and John watched Sam walk away from him never to make contact with him again. John kept an eye out for Sam. He made his way to San Jose a bunch of times to check up on Sam, but never show his face. After the encounter John decided to leave his boys and go missing for a while, but the boys found him. In the end John made a deal with a demon to save Dean and he did just that....he gave up the Colt and his soul. John was taken to hell and tortured numerous times. He really doesn't know the whole extent of his tortures, but he was tortured a few times by Alastair.
One time when the gate to hell was opened he managed to break out. When he got out he saw that Azazel was going to kill his son, so he tackled him it helped a little bit and Dean was able to kill Azazel. John was reunited with his boys for a bit just giving them a smile before disappearing. It was unknown where he went, but he was taken back to Hell and was tortured for his actions on Earth for escaping for a short period. The next thing John knew was that he was on Earth again. He is unaware about what pulled him from Perdition and he is determined to find who done it. He is also determining if he should see his boys. Is he ready to face the reality of his boys? Or should he stay away? Only time will tell.
