Title: Eight Belle's Park
Description: Thanks Arapahoe Park, GRRRR!

AmericasHorse - May 29, 2011 03:47 AM (GMT)

Here it is under 60 days to the Olympics and I got a call on Friday afternoon and found out that Arapahoe Park over booked the track for the end of July. So they kicked us off the schedule, GRRRRR.

So we had to make a decision in like under an hour and we decided to build a racetrack. We at one point 2 years ago had a track on the property, but since racing is coming back in full force to H!L we decided to purchase 1000 acres adjacent to DEq and build Eight Belle's Park (in memory of a wonderful filly who rant the Kentucky Derby in 2008, and died very tragically after the race :( ).

It has been a very busy weekend and over the next 7 weeks (which will be 1 week equals 1 month), my staff will be hopping even more than before.

The H!LRA Chairman and Head of Racing has planned a trip to inspect the track plans and development for approval on the 6th June... Will the track pass? The pressure is certainly on the builders and staff to impress.... more details to follow...

Well, as the head of the US OLYMPIC COMMITTEE, I look forward to whether or not this park will pass inspection. On June 8th, the entire US OLYMPIC COMMITTEE- judges and all- will be at the facility to do it's first Olympic inspection! It is around the same time that we will be inspecting the competitors housing and the corrections from the last inspection...

We are definitely excited that racing is making a come back to Hay!Land. It was sooo great at one time. I think it will be greater this time! :) We have a dynamite new head of racing and the judges are looking forward to meeting Chris from the Racing Association.

Well here it is 5 almost 6 days from the RA inspection and I have not yet received my 3 day pass for coming to DEq for the 6th and 8th inspections on the property. Spencer my physical therapist and assistant is going up the chain since my physician said no for the pass. Its not like i will be alone Spencer will be with me along with hubby. Updates to come :(

The judges want to know what will happen if you're not released? Should we reschedule the visit ?? Time is running out for dates!!!

Hubby will be there and Rory my faithful security constable is also there and are both ver well versed in what needs to be and what has been done, alot of which i have been able to do from the hospital. Lets keep the schedule as is!

Well we had the inspection at Eight Belle's Park today and i was not there. With the high temperatures we have had here lately (above 85) the doctors did not want me to get sunburned  . Go figure that one out.

I am not receiving feedback from any one about the inspection, i am going to go on the basis that they do not want me worrying about it and to focus on my recovery.

The only thing i did hear and had confirmed by Chris was the CRC (Colorado Racing Commission) was there by request of the judges of the OC *gulps*.

Announcement from the H!LRA!!

Today the H!LRA released the following statement regarding the recent inspection of Eight Belles Park.

The H!LRA are pleased to announce that Eight Belles Park has been approved. Although the facilities are not completed we are confident this can be achieved before the Olympics and they look to be among the best facilities in H!L.

We all look forward to a sucsessful raceday with the olympics and congratulate Lija on what looks to be a fantastic facility.

WAY TO GO, LIJA!!!

It looks like all your hard work paid off on the racetrack! Can't wait to see what the OC has to say about the racetrack!

We had doosy of storms here last night. The main facility was affected as well but not as bad as Eight Belles. The amount of rain we were getting in an hours time has affected the track to the point were we are going to have to have it redone. Most of the footing was washed away into the infield and towards the bleaches and building on the east side of the track. We now have to shift works to Eight Belles for the next couple days cleaning up there was some roof damage on the stalls and a couple cracked windows.

THEN we find out that at least 5 of the solar arrays have been damaged as well. We have a call into Terence Parker, Provost, Colorado School of Mines. We have no idea at this point in time if these arrays can be fixed before the Olympics.

We have other damage at the main facility but it is superficial compared to the items mentioned above. So again we are clean up and continual mode for prepping for the games. Amy says that there is no reason to cancel or delay arrivals starting this weekend. We will keep you all posted!
