Cody had spent most of the afternoon hanging out by the pool. School had been long and when it was such a pretty day well hanging by the pool to relax after hearing her teachers ramble on was a must. Not to mention she was tired from practice and that just made the decision to relax that much easier. Her parents were gone for most of the day and well the night to come. Her father had a business dinner and well being married meant her mother was also gone for most of the night. It being a school night and realitivly quiet around Hargrove for one Cody planned to take the night and catch up on her homework, that is until she got a text from her good friend Matt saying he needed to talk. Cody smiled at the chance to ditch the books, and by the text she figured he had another fight with Layla and she would need back up. Cody reached in the top of her closet pulling out her secret stash and grabbing two bottles before she slipped on a pair of flip flopps and headed out the door. Hargrove was tiny in comparrison to other places and pretty much everything was in walking distance, which was why she hadn't bothered with her truck.
She walked up to the elementry school playground where he said he be. She spotted him as she got closer, walking up behind him. "So I hope you don't mind, but I brought some friends with me." She smirked holding up a bottle in each hand. 'These are my good friends Jack and Jose.. "

Matt McGee had not had a good day. He'd sat through 6 hours of school only to get the hell beat out of him at practice, and that practice had been immediately followed by a screaming match with his kinda-sorta girlfriend. Well, she had been a kinda-sorta girlfriend, now she was kinda-sorta nothing. Whatever. Matt wasn't in the mood to be tied down anyway. Still, the fight with her combined with everything else had affected his mood, and he needed something to cheer him up. Naturally, he called Cody.
Waiting for her at the park he grinned as he heard her voice from behind him and saw the gifts she'd brought him. A hot girl with alcohol was a pretty good way to get over a shitty day. "Well me and Jack really know each other well, so..." he said, and took the whiskey bottle from her. "I'll stick with him for now." he added with a chuckle and began walking towards the swingset with her, twisting open the bottle and taking a relatively large swig, enjoying the burning sensation as the drink traveled down his throat.

Cody wasn't your average girl. She wasn't the kind of girl who could listen to someones problems, analyse them, and come up with some problem sovling equasion that would help her friends out of sticky situations. She just wasn't that person. She was the make you laugh and get you drunk till you forget about your problems. Nothing ever seems so bad once you're half a bottle in of hard liquor which was her drink of choice. She could do beer if it was what was served, but liquor was quicker. It wasn't an exact science but it was good enough for her, and well obviously good enough for her friends who often called her when they were feeling down. Prime example was Matt's call for a friend.
She smirked as he took the bottle. "Yea Jack's my cuddle buddy when things are particularly shitty, but Jose.. he's been my man for years." She joked as she twisted the cap of the bottle of tequila and took a long swig. She'd been drinking tequila for years and had surpassed the need for salt and lime. That was reserved for body shots and nothing else. Cody took a seat on one of the swings and wrapped her arm around the chains as she looked over at Matt. "Whats up butter cup.. How much damage control do i have to do?" She asked raising an eyebrow. Of course she was wondering just how drunk she was going to need to get the quarterback, and if an alcohol run would be necessary.

Matt would never wish he didn't play football, football got him everything he had and that trend would most likely continue for the next 20 years or so. But sometimes Matt wished he didn't play football here. In Hargrove. Where every single move you made involved the eye of the entire town and an entire school and an entire team. Sometimes the pressure built up so much he either had to drink himself stupid or fuck something or drink himself stupid and fuck something. It couldn't be healthy to live with this much pressure, but then again he didn't know if he'd be the football player he was if it weren't for this place.
Today was one of the days when the pressure had gotten to him. "Oh... a lot." he said honestly, plopping down into one of the swings and getting enough momentum to where he could drag his toes back and forth across the gravel. "Rough day, you know how it goes." he told her, not sure if she wanted to hear the details, but he didn't particularly feel like telling her the whole story, mostly because he knew he was in the wrong in the situation. Dwelling on this thought he took another long drink from her present to him and smiled over at her. "What about you? How's Cody?" he asked.

Cody had known Matt for a while. Hell everyone knew Matt. When you live in Texas where football is everything, the quarterback was practically a king and everyone elses social status was based around it. If you were in good with the king you were practically high school royalty. Something that made your life at school very easy. You knew when and where the best parties were, you had great friends, and basically were living the dream life. Luckily for Cody she fell in with the good crowd, something that starts at an early age in places like Hargrove. You grew up with the same kids your whole life, so if you ended up an outsider.. well that was personal choice as far as Cody saw it.
Sometimes she felt bad for Matt. It had to be hard being a guy and in texas not to mention the quarterback. Cody could remember back to middle school when she'd seen her boyfriends dad chew him out for messing up on a play and that was middle school. Football was literally everything.. if you weren't into football you were in the wrong place. "Well then good thing i brought reinforcements." She smirked before taking another long swig out of her bottle. "I do know rough, but probably not the same thing." She commented. She wasn't the one to ask questions. If someone had a bad day and wanted to elaborate she'd suffer through it, but if they didn't give the details she figured it was for a reason. Cody pushed and pulled her legs as she started to swing a bit. "Cody is.... Glad for a distraction."[/s] She smiled as she swung by him.

Matt didn't really know what he felt for Cody. Obviously he thought she was gorgeous, he'd have to be crazy not to think that. And sometimes he swore that there was something going on between them. On the other hand, though, Matt knew what he did to girls. He'd been there too many times: girls he considers friends, he hooks up with them once, they want something serious, he doesn't, and the friendship goes to hell. He didn't want that with Cody at all, but at the same time he was sure that she wasn't the same as the drama queens who wanted Matt on their arm for all the world to see.
Taking another long swig he started to swing back and forth. "Distraction, huh?" he asked, looking at her inquisitively. "What are you trying to distract yourself from?" He continued to swing beside her, taking another swig every couple of swings. Getting shitfaced probably wasn't the best way to escape a problem, but as of right now Matt didn't really care.

Cody wasn't your average girl. She was more like one of the guys who just happened to be a girl. She liked some of the girly things, like every once in a while she'd like to get dressed up and enjoy the prettiness of being a girl, but that didn't top her love for sports or working on cars with her dad. She'd been a daddies girl through and through and why yes she could go shopping and cheerlead like any normal high school girl, she was also able to change the oil in her jeep by herself and tell you who the number one draft picks were going to be. Sometimes though she was sure that was all guys saw. Just a drinking buddy who happened to be better to look at than one of the guys. Which would explain the lack in her dating calendar, not that she really cared, but sometimes it was nice to be noticed as a girl and not just one of the guys.
"Who doesn't need a little distractions in their lives?" Cody smirked as she swung passed him and took a sip out of the bottle while still holding on with the other. She needed distractions from a lot of things. The fact that her parents put on this show like they were a happy couple, but they totally didn't sleep in the same room anymore. Cody had noticed it. She'd woken up early one morning to see her father walking out of the guest room and into his bedroom only to come out a few minutes later acting like he'd been in there all night. apparently they thought she was too dumb to notice. 'Just life... " she left it plain and simple as she leaned her head back taking a long chug out of the bottle. "If only life was simple like when he used to attend here." She thought outloud as the swing slowly came to a stop.

Matt swung back and forth with her, understanding where she was coming from. Life was simpler when all he had to worry about was what time his mom was going to pick him up from school. Now it seemed like every day he was getting bitched at by someone new, a trend that often led him to what he was doing now: drinking. Speaking of which, Matt took another drink of his whiskey before looking over at her. "Trade?" he asked with a grin, and he exchanged his whiskey bottle for her tequila, and immediately took a drink, the tequila going down a bit rougher than the whiskey.
"Well at least you're pretty." he told her after a few seconds of calm silence that followed her notion, and he added a wink to go along with his compliment. "So." he started, continuing the conversation. "How's the love life?" he asked her. He felt his love life was almost obsessed over by the whole school, so he enjoyed hearing abouts others' every now and then.

Cody was feeling the tequilla. Apparently eating prior to drinking was always a good thing, but she hadn't been hungry before heading out and now she was in the bottle and food was not a concern. Instead she enjoying herself. She was having fun just hanging out and talking with a friend. Sometimes it was better than going crazy at a party, though parties did have a certain level of appeal that Cody loved. Cody shrugged as he offered a trade. "Sure" She replied handing the bottle over and putting the whiskey to her lips and taking a swig. It was definitely a different taste and adjusting to it took a second, but she knew after a few more taste wouldn't really be an issue.
"Yea.. If all else fails I can get by on my looks." She let out a half laugh as she looked over at him. "But thank you." compliments were always nice. Especially when they were about your looks and not about the fact that you could throw a spiral like Peyton Manning. "Love life.. thats funny." She smirked as she took another drink. "No one really wants to date one of the guys.. and thats what I am I guess." She didn't feel sorry for herself. She liked having guys friends, just sometimes she'd prefer to be a girl to them.

Matt, too, was also starting to feel the affect of the liquor he'd been pounding for the last 20 minutes or so. He was glad he was with someone he liked. In fact he preferred this to drinking at a party, where it was almost a weekend ritual for people from East to show up and start all kinds of shit. Matt didn't like fighting, but sometimes they gave him no other choice. So yeah, drinking with someone he enjoyed being around (not to mention someone with quite the caboose) was probably a good thing for him right now.
Matt laughed and looked back at her with a shrug. "You're welcome." he said, taking another drink. Matt liked girls with confidence, as nothing was worse than a hot girl who did nothing but whine about how fat and ugly she was. Matt slowed his swing down into a slow rock; he didn't think that alcohol and swinging mixed very well and he didn't want to fall on his ass. "Oh shut up." he said with another laugh. "I hear guys talking about you all the time. Don't act like you don't know every guy in school wants to get with you. Bet alotta girls do, too." he added with a wink in her direction.

Matt was a cool guy to hang around. Not to mention he was gorgeous but Cody knew better than to even attempt to go there. He was tangled up with layla in every sense of the word. The two were on and off every other week it seemed and well sometimes it was hard to know which was which, but by the need for drinking and talking well it was obvious it was an off week or day. It wasn't that Cody wouldn't like to go there it was just sometimes it was better to not. Then again that was sober Cody and well drunk cody always seemed to convince her that bad ideas weren't so bad, but really alcohol tends to do that for a lot of people.
"Yes but what you hear in the locker room doesn't always make it's way outside... " She added. It was true. Sometimes guys were all talk in the locker room but when it came to actually attempting to even ask a girl on a date well they fell short. It was times like that a girl needed to take matters into her own hands, and seeing as Cody was going through a dry spell.. well it was almost coming to that point. 'don't get me wrong.. I know i look good, but i'm just saying.. What guys tell you and how they act around me are two very different things." She smirked as she tilted her head back and took a long gulp before licking the access off her lips.

With every passing minute Matt began to feel looser and looser, but he didn't stop drinking. The eye contact he was making with her was lingering longer and longer each time. Matt, of course, thought that Cody was gorgeous, but he also knew that she was a sweet girl. She wasn't the type of girl that Matt hooked up with once and hoped she didn't cling to him after. The girls that Matt did that to were skanks that Matt didn't really have any other sort of feelings for, but Matt genuinely liked Cody, and wouldn't ever do anything to jeopardize that. Sober.
Matt chuckled and rolled his eyes at her words, not really believing that guys wouldn't want a piece of her. "Well... he started, and his eyes found hers and he took a long drink before continuing. "I think you're gorgeous." he told her, then took another drink, albeit a much smaller one. "If that counts for anything." he finished, smirking at her sweetly with his eyebrows raised.

Cody had a bad habit if getting drunk and loosing her morals, which was why she usually brought Cash along to keep her out of trouble. Cash was practically her older brother, and well he played the part. He was quick to stop anything that might happen if drunk Cody was on the loose, which in most cases she appreciated. There was nothing worse than waking up next to a guy who was, not up to the cheerleading standards. It may sound shallow, but it was true and most people agreed they just didn't admit it. Cody didn't have a problem being friends with everyone but she wasn't about to sleep with them all.
However Cash wasn't anywhere in site and that could end up being very bad for the girl. At least if she continued to drink as she was doing, but judging by the grip on the bottle it wasn't going anywhere. She smiled at him blushing slightly as she took a drink. "Honestly if anyone's going to tell you you're gorgeous.. You're the guy they'd wanna hear it from." She nodded matter of factly. "Gorgeous Guys shelling out compliments doesn't happen everyday.. " she paused. "Well.. not to everyone.."

Matt, like everyone else on the planet, tended to do some stupid and unpredictable things when he was drunk. He was usually pretty good about holding his liquor, but every now and then he did something totally out of control, whether it be doing stuff with a girl he really didn't want to, or getting in a fight, or just doing something dumb and ending up injuring himself. Now there wasn't much opportunity for any of those tonight, but there was still plenty of chances for him to do something unexpected.
With that said, at her words Matt grinned and took a long drink before looking over at her, meeting her eyes. The two looked at each other for about 5 seconds, but to Matt it felt like an eternity. Then, as if in slow motion, he began leaning to the left in his swing. Not really knowing why or what was compelling him to do this, he moved close to Cody and pressed his lips against hers, kissing her for about 10 seconds before pulling away and exhaling deeply. "Sorry." he said, but he wasn't. In fact, he was smirking, and it couldn't have been more obvious that he was pretty proud of himself. He took a small sip and looked over at her, grinning rather sheepishly before chuckling in anticipation of her reaction.

The worst thing about a drunken mistake was you didn't know it was a mistake until the next morning after you made, and that depended on if you even remembered it. There is nothing worse than looking through your camera the next day and dying of shock because you made out with your best friends boyfriend at a party and everyone saw, not only had they seen you, but they took photographic evidence. It was a tough situation, but it happened and you dealt with it with the shit hit the fan. That was why it was always good to have a wing man to keep you out of trouble. Sadly there was no wingman, no little angel on the shoulder saying this could potentially be a bad idea.
Looking into Matt's eyes, she knew what was going to happen and that should have been her cue to stop it, but drunken Cody didn't think as fast or as normal as sober Cody so instead of pulling away as he got closer she moved in herself. Their lips touched and it was almost like a rush swept over her. Blame it on the alcohol. She saw the grin on his face as he pulled away and took a drink. 'You definitely don't look sorry." She smirked giving him a look over before her eyes settled back on his. She'd always wondered what kissing Matt would be like and well.. she was right. It was good. It was Damn good.
