DRAGON INFORMATION

Gold Dragon

Golds are the largest dragons in all the land. Since the gold is the largest, all other dragons obey them without question, however, it is not just their size that makes others obey them; it is their strong will that keeps others in order. Because of this quality, Golds are often referred to as 'Queens'. Their colors range from a bright lustrous gold to a darker, dingy looking gold. Sometimes they can be found in slight shades of yellow but still hold that gold-like quality. Gold dragons average about 50 feet at their shoulders and can average 300 feet from nose to tail-tip. Gold Dragons mature between the ages of 3 and 4. If they do not reach sexual maturity between those ages, the dragon will not be able to produce young and will be rendered infertile. Not very often are Golds declared infertile. When they do clutch, it can range from 12 to 24 eggs, sometimes they can have more but that is rare. Often, they have a number somewhere in the middle rather than one of the extremes.

Silver Dragon

Silver Dragons are second in command to Golds. They are also the second largest Dragon and are the masculine side to the 'Queen'. They have strong will power and great brute force so not many mess with Silver Dragons. Silvers can range in color from that of the metal to almost a grey. These dragons average about 48 feet at their shoulders and average 290 feet long. They are not that much smaller that Gold Dragons and therefore are the ones to most often breed with them. Silvers mature at the age of 2.5, sometimes a little earlier, sometimes a little later but the average Silver reaches sexual maturity at 2.5 years. If they do not mature by 4 years, they will be declared infertile; however, these dragons are rarely infertile.
Gender Percents: 100% Male
Riders/Impress: Male Only [Heterosexual]
Chase: Gold, Copper, Brass, rarely Red

Copper Dragon

Copper Dragons are third largest and the first group to have both males and females. The ratio on gender for these dragons is an even 50/50. Copper Dragons have thick hides of colors ranging from the beautiful metallic of the metal to a dingy and rather dull orange, sometimes, these dragons have been found to be lighter shades of brown but those are less common. Copper Dragons are about 38 feet at their shoulders and average about 267 feet long, being the largest jump in size from the Silver and Gold. These dragons are also the first to be able to breed amongst themselves; however, the females tend to prefer larger, higher ranked dragons rather than their own race. This means that there are very few Copper Dragons that came from two Coppers. These dragons mature around 2 years of age. It is not often that they mature before 2 years and after 3 years, though, it has happened before. If these dragons have not matured sexually by 4 years old, then they are declared infertile and shall not produce young. There is usually a 25% chance that they can be infertile. When Copper Dragons do clutch, they have between 12 and 18 eggs.
Gender Percents: 50% Female, 50 % Male
Riders/Impress: Male and Female [Heterosexual]
Chase: Copper, Gold [very slim chances], rarely Red
Chased By: Copper, Silver, rarely Red

Brass Dragon

Brass Dragons are the fourth largest dragons. They are found to be the more masculine dragons being well muscled for fighting. Though they average 35 feet tall and 255 feet long, they are perfectly designed for combat and can take on dragons larger than them in terms of battle. They are found in colors of the alloy metal to a yellow-green but still hold the lustrous shine of the Brass metal. These dragons always chase other dragons since a majority of them are male and all female Brass Dragons are born infertile since they are more masculine. These dragons mature at 4 years of age. It is not uncommon for them to mature a little earlier or later, but if they do not mature by 6 years of age, they are declared infertile; however, they normally mature quickly once they hit their forth to fifth years.
Gender Percents: 25% Female, 75% Male
Riders/Impress: Female [Masculine Homosexual and Masculine Bisexual], Male [Heterosexual]
Chase: Copper, Red

Red Dragon

Red Dragons are the fifth largest dragons. They tend to be lean and agile in flight despite their size rather than large and bulky. Their scales range from a bright vibrant red to a dark blood colored red. Sometimes they have been found to be darker, almost a black but still holding that tinge of red but not as often as bright red. Since they are normally so brightly colored, they are normally sent out to be messengers which require light riders, or they are sent out to declare war. These Dragons are normally 32 feet tall and about 248 feet long. A large majority of this race is females, making them more feminine and feisty. These dragons will protect their clutches and riders with their lives, so when they are in battle, it is not hard to believe that they fight to the death. Reds normally mature at 2 years old and if they do not mature by 4 years old, they are declared infertile. There is a 20% chance that the females are infertile, males are never infertile. When Reds clutch, they usually have between 10 and 18 eggs.
Gender Percents: 95% Female, 5% Male
Riders/Impress: Female, Male [Feminine]
Chase: Green, Red, Black, rarely Copper
Chased By: Red, Black, Brass, rarely Copper

Blue Dragon

Blue Dragons are the sixth largest dragons. They are mid-ranking and do not really demand respect like those above it. They are solitary Dragons and do not like getting involved with the other colors, only other blues. Their hides can range from a dodger blue to a navy but staying well away from black. There have been a few that have been a sky blue, but not many get the lighter colors, most tending to be a neutral blue. These dragons also have a 50/50 chance of being male or female, but unlike those that try to breed higher, Blues tend to stay to their breed, making them the only pure race of Dragon. Blues average 30 feet at the shoulders and average 240 feet long. These dragons are much more 'delicate' in a sense. They do not like to fight nor do they like to do dirty work which makes them a more feminine breed. They have sharp minds and are very agile for their size so most likely serve as hunters or are strategists. These dragons mature at 6 years of age and never before. If they do not reach sexual maturity by the age of 8, they are declared infertile. There is a 25% chance that these dragons are infertile. When Blue's do clutch, they can have between 10 and 12 eggs.
Gender Percents: 50% Female, 50% Male
Riders/Impress: Female [Heterosexual and Feminine Bisexual], Male [Homosexual and Feminine Bisexual]

Black Dragon

Black Dragons are the third smallest dragons, and because of that, they are bad tempered. These dragons are normally loners and usually only come together if they have to and to breed. This species have become the main labor force, helping to build the communities and moving large amounts of supplies from place to place but they will fight when they are needed to. They believe that they deserve more respect than they get and since they cannot get it, they have become sour. These dragons normally stand 26 feet tall and usually 230 long with scale colors that range from a smoky off-black to a jet black where features cannot be seen at certain angles except for their bright eyes. These dragons usually mature at 3 years old and if they do not mature by 5 years, they are declared infertile. There is a 15% chance males of this species are infertile. When they clutch, they normally have 8 to 11 eggs.
Gender Percents: 80% Male, 20% Female
Riders/Impress: Male
Chase: Red, Green

Green Dragon

Green Dragons are the second smallest dragons. These dragons are known for their agility and are normally used for hunting rather than fighting. These dragons average about 20 feet tall at the shoulders and average 200 feet long. They have long tails for stabilization in air as well as on the ground. They have thin, lithe builds and are able to run at high speeds as well as fly at them. The colors of these dragons range from bright greens to dark emeralds. Colors lighter and more towards white are very rare as well as anything darker than emerald. Greens usually mature at 3 years old, some have been known to mature a little earlier than that but not by much. It they do not mature by 6 years old, they are declared infertile, unless they are male then they are hatched infertile. When they clutch, they normally have 6 to 8 eggs. There is a 35% chance that females could be infertile.

White Dragon

White Dragons are the smallest of all dragons. They are used for messengers and usually nothing more unless you're looking for a good companion. They only grow to be 16 feet tall at the shoulders and 130 feet long, give or take. Whites are usually a pure white color, some a slight tint of baby blue, but it's hardly noticeable if they do. These dragons are really the runts of all clutches and are almost as rare as a Gold, but when they do show up have a smaller chance at survival. Since these are the runts and very rare, they are all infertile and cannot breed, however, they do mature at 2 years old.

MATING FLIGHTS

Mating flight is also known as Rising. As many dragons are able to Rise, not all are able to have clutches. Most have their own special times when they Rise for breeding with small over-lappings where dragons of lower ranks can breed. There are only a few that Rise at the same time and others have their own special times of years.

Spring
Golds rise at early spring as well as Silvers. Their rise lasts from early spring to mid-spring. The Copper dragons Rise a few days before mid-spring and are able to take chances at Golds as well as their own. Once mid-spring hits, they only have a chance at their own until Brass dragons rise a few days after mid-spring. Copper and Brass risings end at the end of spring.

Summer
At the beginning of summer, the Red dragons rise until mid-spring where the Blacks take their turn. Occasionally, there are some Black dragons that come to rise early and can be caught by a Red. Greens also come to rise at mid-spring and can be caught by either a Black or a Red if there are any still rising. At the end of summer, these rises all end.

Fall
There are no Risings in the fall.

Winter
Only Blue dragons rise in the winter, and even if any others did, they would still keep to their race. No Golds or Silvers rise early.

While the females Rise, they seek out the strongest males: the ones that can keep up with them the longest. The larger dragons can follow a female much longer than smaller dragons, making it impossible for any low ranking dragons with breeding with a high ranking one. If there are two males that can keep up equally, they end the whole thing with a duel by either fighting to the death [usually only in the wild] or fighting until one backs down.

CLUTCHING

Once a dragon has become egg-heavy, they usually hole themselves up within their cave, the male that bred with her usually bringing her food and watching over her. Some dragons, like the Black, do not do this. Any Black females that become egg-heavy usually hunt one last time and hibernate until she lays her eggs and then takes care of the young until she can leave. After 2 to 3 months, a female will lay her eggs and cover them in their own little mounds of sand. Sometimes certain breeds prefer pebbles, but most just use sand. The female only has a short amount of time to move the eggs around before she can no longer touch them or else risks damaging the egg and killing the dragon within. Once she's satisfied, she will rest, keeping close guard of the eggs.

HATCHING

It takes 1 to 2 months for the eggs to harden and become mature enough to hatch. But, before they can do that, Candidates are needed. Since dragons know instantly when the eggs are going to hatch, they allow possible Candidates in to take claim to her eggs. Holders and Dragonriders gather to celebrate the event of hatching and Impression to welcome their new 'riders. When the chick inside starts to hum, it is almost ready to hatch, and once it does, it already knows its name and is ready to look for its partner. Once hatched, the Weyrling will not stop looking for its partner until it dies or finds the right Candidate.

IMPRESSING

Impressing is really the most interesting and most exciting moment in a Dragonrider's life. This is the moment that they could be chosen by the Weyrling they are destined to be with and gain their lifelong companion. The bond formed between 'rider and dragon is one that can only be broken by death. Once the Weyrling finds its partner, it can instantly speak its name into the mind of the other. Later, they can send pictures but training is required. Once Weyrlings are hatched and impressed, they are hungry and must be fed very quickly, and once fed, will sleep. After all, the little Weyrling had a big day.

From an outsider's view, Hallelujah Range looks like it is at peace with the natives of A'ter, but that is far from the truth. The Dragonriders of Hallelujah Range have many problems with the Native Elves and vise versa. The 'riders believe that the Elves should not be entitled to have dragons that they brought over and that they should just stick to their Hallelujah Dogs despite the fact that they use the 'Dogs themselves. The Elves do not like the way the 'riders use and waste the land and believe that they are entitiled to the dragons as well since the dragon chooses its rider. Many times these groups have clashed, though, none of them have been in battle yet. But its only a matter of time.

Will a war between these groups wage? If so, who will come out on top? Will there be anyone, or anything, to stop this war? Join us, and find out. You could be the determining factor in this ordeal.
