This is our canon list. Please do not steal! All face claims are open and reservations (see the bottom of the list) last for three days. We do not allow competitions because that's just a headache waiting to happen, so keep that in mind. If there is an icon next to a canon description, he/she is taken; if not, he/she is available. Enjoy!

THE CONTROLLERS

The Controllers are large and in charge. They run Manhattan and you'd better believe that they'll squish you if you don't follow their rules. It's often assumed that most of them aren't quite right in the head, but it's unclear whether or not that's true. If you know what's good for you, you'll follow their orders even if you hate them. They do, after all, have all the power these days.

GEMINI 39, OPEN FEMALE GEMINI is everything you'd expect a dictator to be - commanding, persuasive, and totally ruthless. To put it a little bit simpler, she's Hitler in a skirt and heels. If there's anyone she has any sort of attachment to, she sure as hell isn't about to admit it. People are just tools in her world, and she will use them however she wants. She does have a soft spot for DIRECTOR, but only because he's her son.

THURSDAY 31, OPEN FEMALE THURSDAY is GEMINI'S right-hand woman and the power behind the throne. She's intelligent, she's tactful, she has a heart… in essence, THURSDAY is everything that her superior isn't. It's gotten to the point where she's willing to do anything to have more power, at least if the deal she made with DOCTOR is any indication…

RIVER 26, OPEN MALE RIVER has no real connection to the Controllers, even though he's been with them almost since they took over. He's a jack of all trades, not extremely good at any particular thing, and is frequently assigned to guard Controller buildings. That's how he met WINTER - it was a simple case of wrong place wrong time, but even though RIVER had absolutely no reason to let her go, he did. He's quite interested in the mysterious Rebel, and he's willing to risk his neck to find out more.

BLACKJACK 28, OPEN MALE BLACKJACK is equal parts asset and liability for the Controllers. On the one hand, the man's brilliant; on the other hand, he lives like there's no tomorrow. He's the son of one of the old families that dominated Manhattan society before the bombings, and he won't let anyone forget it. He has a weakness for pretty girls, but none of them catch his eye for very long. LYRIC is his current plaything, but he's already selected her replacement, SHINY.

ENGINE 25, OPEN MALE ENGINE is a genius, good with any technology he can get his hands on. He makes sure the Controllers have the transportation they need; in return, they give him the space to work on whatever he wants. He's single-minded, focused on his gizmos and little else, but he's made room in his life for STOCKHOLM, who he's training to eventually take his place. What he'll do once he leaves the Controllers is unknown, but he knows he wants out more than he's ever wanted anything.

STOCKHOLM 16, OPEN FEMALE STOCKHOLM gets her name from Stockholm Syndrome, which she may or may not be experiencing. The jury's still out on what her connection to ENGINE is, but she's invaluable as his assistant. She doesn't really speak to anyone else and is utterly terrified of GUNNER. All she'll say about that is that he reminds her of someone from her past; who that someone is, just like everything else about her, is a secret she keeps under lock and key.

GUNNER 36, OPEN MALE GUNNER is the Controllers' security expert, keeping their headquarters safe from any idiot who might happen to think they can sneak in. He's killed his fair share of people, including STOCKHOLM'S mother, and feels no remorse for what he does. The only thing he really feels these days is hatred, which is what led him to ROME. She was so useable, but now he's starting to feel an uncharacteristic level of regret. Quite honestly, GUNNER is confused for the first time in his life, and all he knows is that he doesn't like this confusion.

BEANIE 23, OPEN FEMALE Named for the hat she frequently wears, BEANIE handles supplies for the Controllers. She's not the brightest bulb in the bunch, but she's resourceful and driven. Thing is, Little Miss Practical has a pretty big secret - she's pregnant. BEANIE barely knows GOALIE, but she feels sort-of attached to him, seeing as he's the man who got her into this mess.

RADIO 29, OPEN MALE RADIO'S job is simple - make sure the Innocents are kept as in-the-dark as possible. He was chosen because he looks trustable, not because of any intelligence he might have, and he'd be hopelessly lost without his girlfriend, METRO. They try to keep their relationship hidden for fear of what GEMINI might do if she found out two of her trusted cronies were together, but it's glaringly obvious to everyone else that RADIO and METRO are meant to be.

METRO 30, OPEN FEMALE The product of a somewhat unconventional childhood, METRO was one of the few people who was prepared when the world ended. She's quiet and reserved, reluctant to become close to anyone, and spends most of her time making sure RADIO doesn't sound like a total idiot. Over the last couple of years, she's fallen for him, and she likes to think they have a future. Love is turning METRO into a dreamer, and even though she doesn't quite know what to make of it, she's willing to take whatever happens.

THE INDEPENDENTS

The Independents are another group you don't wanna mess with. Legality has never bothered them, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're bad people. They'd just prefer to do whatever they want and they don't care what you think of them. Occasionally some of them get roped into serving as mercenaries for the Controllers, but for the most part they scavenge for useful junk and hang around Central Park.

PANDORA 17, OPEN FEMALE PANDORA is a little too curious for her own good, a fact that's more than earned her her name. She can't not chase anything that looks interesting, a tendency that's led her straight to SPARK. Never mind that he hates her - PANDORA has never taken no for an answer, and she's going to get what she wants or die trying. Okay, she's not too sure about that last bit, but she's pretty determined and a force to be reckoned with.

ENIGMA 38, OPEN MALE As his name suggests, ENIGMA is a very secretive man. He's got Rebel ties, but you'd never know it - or anything else about him - from looking at him. In fact, the only person he displays emotion to is his wife, MOTHER, who he's loved since he can remember. Even though they rarely see each other, anyone who gets between them is going to get hurt.

ROME 32, OPEN FEMALE ROME wants one thing and one thing only - GUNNER'S head on a silver platter. She's been broken before, but never so much as she was when he assaulted her. It's been a few weeks, though, and her sadness has been replaced with a deep desire for revenge. She's out for blood and will not stop until she gets what she wants. That poor bastard isn't going to know what hit him...

DUSK 26, OPEN FEMALE The first thing DUSK remembers is waking up in the ruins of a recently blown-up building. She used to be a sweet girl, but all that is gone now, replaced by a love of pain. She's not a sadist, per say, but if you cross her, you'll be lucky if she lets you live to regret it. She's dating FAWKES but is nowhere near as interested in their future together as she is, and she also has some feelings for RIOT, who claims to know her. DUSK is a little torn between the two guys, but that's not the end of the world… right?

RIOT 27, OPEN MALE RIOT is a depressed, and therefore dangerous, individual. He'd created a decent life for himself and his childhood best friend, DUSK, who he's loved for about forever. They were almost together… and then, next thing he knew, she didn't remember anything. RIOT is trying his damn hardest to bring DUSK back to who she used to be, and though he still loves her, he'd settle for friendship. Too bad he has suspicions about FAWKES...

WANDERER 25, OPEN MALE WANDERER is a bit of an anomaly, starting with the fact that he's not from New York City - or even from the USA, for that matter. A native of Australia, he was on vacation with his family when the bombings happened and found himself stuck in Iowa. Somehow he's made his way to Manhattan, although he still has his accent. He's never been inclined to stay in one place for long and tries not to form attachments to people. It's safer that way, he's always thought, and he's all about safety these days.

GIN 31, OPEN MALE GIN has business sense that, in the old days, would've made his life quite comfortable. He's resourceful and, more importantly, talented with locks. His main enterprise involves selling the contents of restaurant wine cellars, and he can make quite a profit off a bottle of alcohol. Very few people cross the line from clients to friends, but he's been with BIRD for quite some time and has yet to find her companionship tiring.

BIRD 28, OPEN FEMALE BIRD is sick of her friends-with-benefits relationship with GIN. You'd think the moron would understand that she wants to make their relationship official, but of course he doesn't! Then again, it's not like BIRD has the time to be a cute little girlfriend. She looks like a dyed-in-the-wool Independent, but she's being paid quite handsomely by the Controllers for her people-watching skills. She's a little bit of a dreamer and sees her "job" as a means to an end. One of these days she's going to give GIN what's coming to him and fly away, but for now, BIRD is quite comfortable with her current circumstances.

WICKED 22, OPEN FEMALE WICKED is a terror, plain and simple. She's one girlie you don't want to cross and packs a hell of a punch for someone her size. She's got a secret that might be her bad-girl undoing, though - for the past year, she's secretly been seeing SAINT. It's a battle of wits with those two, and WICKED is determined to turn SAINT bad before he turns her good. She doesn't want to cave, and unless something changes her mind, she's playing to win.

JOKER 23, OPEN MALE JOKER is a well-intentioned guy, but those good intentions tend to get lost in translation. He's a prankster of the highest order and refuses to take a side. With the help of APPLE, the Abu to his Aladdin, he's hellbent on causing as much mayhem as he can. A favorite target is NOVA, who he thinks is too straight-laced for her own good. All JOKER wants to do is liven her life up, but if feelings get involved… well, anything could happen.

THE REBELS

The Rebels are essentially a more peaceful version of the Fighters. All they want is a peaceful society, one free of the Controllers, and they want to achieve it through nonviolent methods. They occupy Grand Central Terminal and have set up their own city-within-a-city within its walls. All are welcome to join their side; however, they are wary of those with ties to the Controllers…

MOTHER 37, OPEN FEMALE MOTHER is the glue that holds the Rebels together. As her name suggests, she's a mother figure for basically everyone who needs one and spends most of her time recruiting others to her cause. Although it looks like her job's easy, she's convinced that it's anything but and is starting to wonder why no one believes her. Oh well, at least she's got her cute little surrogate family to listen to her and her beloved ENIGMA to make her life beautiful.

WINTER TWENTY-FOUR, EMILIE DE RAVIN WINTER is a sweet girl, despite the fact that she tends to act like she's afraid of people. That's more for her own good than anything else; even though she's been with the Rebels for two years, her street-girl instincts are still in full force. Her deepest loyalty is to her brother, SPARK, even though she rarely sees him. Conflicting with that loyalty is her newfound attraction to RIVER, who she met about a month ago. He's everything she's supposed to hate, but against her better judgement, she's starting to fall for him.

PISTOL 30, OPEN MALE A close friend of the Rebels' deceased founder, PISTOL officially holds the job of Rebel leader. In reality, he's split the actual leadership duties between MOTHER and COLONEL, both of whom have more desire for them than he does, and mainly sticks to his original job - keeping Grand Central safe. Although he's been asked to join the Fighters several times, he's convinced that he's in the best possible position at the moment and wouldn't leave it for the world. Beside, how else would he get to look after his cousin, KNICK KNACK?

COLONEL 40, OPEN MALE COLONEL was born to run things. Although his position is unofficial and he's passed on the less interesting duties to MOTHER, he's the closest thing the Rebels have to a leader and he enjoys every minute of it. A former military man, he applies a certain level of discipline to everything he does and is sometimes under the delusion that the Rebels are no different from the U.S. Marines. He's dead wrong, of course, but no one's dumb enough to tell him that - he's still got really good aim with a gun if the situation arises.

KNICK KNACK 15, OPEN FEMALE Given her touch-and-go upbringing, it's a wonder KNICK KNACK turned out alright. Not that PISTOL was a bad surrogate parent or anything - she adores her cousin - but a lot of things got overlooked along the way. She's starting to get curious about the outside world and frequently sneaks out of Grand Central to hang out with her closest friend, SPIDERMAN. Sometimes she's gone for days before anyone notices, but that's alright. She's having the time of her life and no one can stop her.

SAINT 27, OPEN MALE SAINT is a genuinely good person, probably one of the best still alive. Even though legality is no longer an issue, he tries to follow every rule he knows and is highly religious to boot. He feels a great sense of personal triumph when interacting with WICKED, and although he's attracted to her, he's more focused on trying to make her a better person than anything else. Although he knows she's a bad influence on him, it's not like he cares or anything. As far as SAINT'S concerned, he can resist anything.

HURRICANE 33, OPEN MALE HURRICANE looks tough, but underneath his exterior, he's one of the nicest people you could hope to meet. He's just trying to help people and make the world as decent a place as he can, and his current project is COBWEB. He honestly can't believe a human being can be as sad as she is, and he's more than ready to be whatever she needs. He really does mean well, but he's blind to how unwanted he is...

LADY 28, OPEN FEMALE LADY is a woman in the traditional sense, a housewife wannabe with a cute little two-year-old son and a husband who's more trouble than he's worth. It feels like the more she tries to get TROUBLE to settle down and be a proper family man, the more he goes off and does whatever it is that he does. LADY just doesn't know what to do, and quite honestly, she's freaked out and wondering why she got married in the first place.

TROUBLE 31, OPEN MALE Even though he's old enough to know better, TROUBLE just won't let his recklessness die. He's a daredevil and, although he's keeping well away from the Fighters for now, loves playing vigilante. There's just one problem - his wife, LADY, who's trying to get him to settle down. TROUBLE is as inclined to listen to her as he is to help MOTHER with recruiting - in other words, he isn't - but he just can't get the woman to shut up.

TITANIA 30, OPEN FEMALE TITANIA is a little ethereal. She essentially retreated into her little dreamworld after the bombings, and she's never been the same yet. She's a bit delusional, but in a harmless, almost endearing way. It's pretty obvious to everyone else that BRICK has some sort of feelings for her, but she has no idea.

THE INNOCENTS

The Innocents are the everyday people in this crazy new world. For the most part, they're harmless and just trying to stay alive. Many have connections to the other groups, but they keep to themselves a lot and don't get involved in any of the conflicts. They're as close to normal as anyone gets these days… other than the fact that they're always trying to stay on the good side of the Controllers, of course.

DIRECTOR 21, OPEN MALE DIRECTOR has a pretty nice life, all things considered. He's the son of GEMINI, and although she doesn't publicly admit he exists, he likes it better that way. It gives him the time to work on his pet project - using a warehouse full of movie equipment he found to bring some culture back to Manhattan. He's not good by any means, but it's a diversion and it brings him closer to CERISE, who he sort-of has a thing for. Not that he's ever going to tell her or anything - the mere idea terrifies him.

CERISE 20, OPEN FEMALE Somewhere along the way, CERISE forgot to learn some people skills. She's the poster child for socially inept and has only managed to scrape up one real friend, DIRECTOR. Half the time she has no idea what he's talking about, but helping him figure out what his collection of movie equipment does is interesting, a perfect diversion from the struggle to stay alive. She thinks he's cute, but she has no idea what to do about it. Maybe one of these days she'll break the wall between them, but for now they're just adorably awkward together.

LYRIC 23, OPEN FEMALE LYRIC was born to sing, but the end of the world deprived her of whatever chances she might've had to become famous. Without any other real alternatives, she turned to prostitution as a way to survive and spends whatever spare time she has writing songs and hanging around CHARON. She's smitten with BLACKJACK and has no idea he's only using her.

SHINY 19, OPEN FEMALE Some people were more affected by the bombings than others, or at least that's what people say when they're trying to explain away SHINY'S unusual behavior. She's hyperactive and has magpie-like tendencies, a combination that causes both trouble and amusement for anyone who pays attention. She's oblivious to guys and wouldn't know someone was attracted to her unless they told her outright, and even then she'd be unlikely to believe them.

SPIDERMAN 17, OPEN MALE SPIDERMAN has one love and one love only - comic books. He's taken up residence in an old comic shop and has a passion for everything in it. He doesn't know how he befriended KNICK KNACK, but he loves explaining his obsession to her. She's like the little sister he never had, despite what everyone else says, and his feelings for her are totally innocent.

GOALIE 24, OPEN MALE GOALIE didn't mean to get into this mess. His feelings for BEANIE were never of the I-want-to-spend-my-life with-you variety - she was supposed to be a little fling, nothing more. When he found out he was going to be a dad, he just about panicked, and he's still not sure what to do. BEANIE won't leave him alone, and quite honestly, GOALIE is on his last nerve with that woman. Why does stuff like this always happen to him?

APPLE 21, OPEN FEMALE APPLE has a pretty decent life, all told. She's an Innocent in name only and spends most of her time following JOKER around and helping him with his crazy plans. She has a huge crush on him, despite the fact that he's so obviously fascinated with NOVA, and she can't help wondering if there's a way to become more of a girl and less of a friend in his eyes. No one's ever called her desperate, but APPLE'S starting to head that direction...

CANDY 36, OPEN FEMALE Even though she left him three years ago, CANDY is still mad at her ex-husband, PILOT. Theirs was an opposites-attract relationship, and somewhere along the way, opposites stopped attracting. She got sick of not being able to do what she likes, and she's doing just fine without that moron, thank you very much! Independence is sweet, and CANDY will not let anyone hold her down. She's not thinking about leaving Manhattan, per say, but if the situation were to come up, she wouldn't say no.

BRICK 34, OPEN MALE BRICK isn't quite right in the head. The trauma of losing his entire family, combined with a few mistakes he no longer remembers, thrust him into a pretty interesting delusion. In his world, TITANIA is a princess and he has to save her from… well, everything. There's just one problem - she's not playing along, and he doesn't get that. He's been talked down by a number of people, but he always goes back to his delusion. In a way, he's pretty sure he likes it better that way.

BLUE 28, OPEN MALE BLUE should've died several weeks ago. He doesn't remember what happened, but what he remembers is waking up in an unfamiliar apartment with FACE hovering over him. At the time, he thought she was an angel, but he's learned better. If anything, his "rescuer" is a bitch, and he really needs to get out from under her far-too-watchful eye. Now, if only she wasn't so pretty...

THE FIGHTERS

The Fighters are a very appropriately-named group. Their goal? Take down the Controllers through any means necessary. A splinter group of the Rebels, they move from place to place a lot but are based more in Chinatown than anywhere else. Overall, if you see them and they've got weapons, you're probably going to get hurt. It takes a lot to get into this group, but the effort is worth it…

DOCTOR 35, OPEN MALE DOCTOR is a self-made man. He taught himself everything he knows, so it's a wonder he's as good a leader as he is. The Fighters were his brainchild, created after one of his many clashes with the Rebel leaders, and he's grown the group into a successful organization. The only things DOCTOR needs are a master plan and a girl who can love him despite his mood swings, and he thinks he's found both in the form of THURSDAY. She gives him inside information into how the Controllers operate; he gives her ultimate power once he succeeds in overthrowing GEMINI. It's almost perfect.

SPARK 18, OPEN MALE SPARK is a good kid who's made a series of bad choices… such as liberating himself from his older sister, WINTER, when he was fifteen. Somehow he found the Fighters, who he considers the crazy family he always wanted. What he doesn't want is PANDORA, that weird Independent who seems into him. SPARK is a one-man show, aside from helping BLAZE with her crazy pyro stunts, and he does not need a girlfriend. Too bad PANDORA doesn't understand that he can't stand her.

BLAZE 27, OPEN FEMALE To say that BLAZE is a little bitter would be putting it mildly. Ever since she watched her boyfriend die, she's been on a mission to take down the Controllers in any way possible. She's always been good with explosives and all things fire-related, and her assignment within the Fighters is to light up the city skyline as much as possible. She keeps to herself a lot and only really opens up to SPARK, who she's training to take her place if something happens to her.

CHARON 29, OPEN MALE CHARON was recruited by the Fighters because of his boat, not because of any allegiances he has to their side or to anyone else. Essentially, he's a free agent who does more work for them than for any of the other groups, so they put up with him. The work in question? Smuggling things - and occasionally people - out of Manhattan. He's uninterested in any bonds with anyone, but he enjoys a certain level of brooding silence and companionship with LYRIC.

FAWKES 30, OPEN MALE Some people just want to watch the world burn. FAWKES is a jack of all trades, helping his fellow Fighters with whatever they need, but his favorite thing is being the third wheel with SPARK and BLAZE. He's normally pretty good, but he didn't mean to complicate things by nearly killing DUSK. He'd never seen her before, but when he ran into her several days after the explosion, he recognized her… and started falling for her. FAWKES is convinced that DUSK is the one for him, even though she seems a little bit reluctant about that idea. Now, if he could just get RIOT to leave her alone…

VALENTINE 20, OPEN FEMALE VALENTINE is out-of-place in the insanity that is the Fighters. She's got a gift for technology and is assigned to make sure the other Fighters can communicate with each other. For the most part, she's left to her own devices, which suits her just fine. She's got a bit of a schoolgirl crush on WANDERER, but she doesn't want to risk a broken heart, so she intends to keep it her little secret.

NOVA 22, OPEN FEMALE NOVA is far too serious for her own good. It makes her an excellent information-gatherer - the Independents have no idea that she's really a Fighter - but it also makes her a boring person to deal with. She's all rules and regulations and has no patience for morons like JOKER, who just will not bug off. Yeah, he's cute, but he's also trying his hardest to, at least from NOVA'S perspective, ruin her life! But still… he's cute.

PILOT 37, OPEN MALE PILOT doesn't know where things went wrong between himself and CANDY. He was a little too grounded for her or something, even though he's somewhat of a dreamer himself. It's been two years since she went from being his wife to his ex, but he has a plan that he hopes will change that. He's going to get himself - and her - as far away from Manhattan as possible. Whatever it takes, if it'll help him get CANDY back, PILOT is ready to do it.

COBWEB 32, OPEN FEMALE COBWEB has been in a state of depression for years. How she's still alive is still totally unknown, but it's not for lack of trying. Even though she feel hopeless, she still wants someone who'd save her if something were to happen to her, even something that she caused. Despite how much she wants to appreciate HURRICANE'S efforts to be that person, COBWEB simply can't let things go that way. She needs a deliverer, yes, but for some reason, she doesn't want it to be him.

FACE 25, OPEN FEMALE FACE is gorgeous and she knows it. She's also, in the tradition of pretty girls, a total bitch. Saving BLUE'S life was an accident and taking care of him is an obligation, but he's starting to melt FACE'S ice-queen exterior. It's not love - she doesn't believe in love - but for the first time in her life, she's found herself caring about another human being. At least she's willing to start small...
