Morning rose like a balloon, holding the promise of fun and discovery in its string. Trees lifted their leaves towards the bright rays. A squirrel popped his head out of a small hole, looked around, and scattered into the distance.
It was the day after the leaders of the Smash Mansion had left on their journey. The mansion itself seemed to come alive. In fact, if one were to stand above the estate, they could see a new spirit embodied in the Go Kart courses, Tennis courts, Golf holes, and all the other activities that the mansion had to offer. It was as if their long wait had finally come to end.

Zelda sat solemnly by herself in her room. The streaks on her face left by her tears were a painfully obvious reminder of how weak the princess actually felt. She stared at the letter clutched in her hands and read it again in disbelief.
My dearest Zelda, I'm sorry that I have to leave like this, but it is truly for the best. I don't know how long I'll be away, and I know not what will happen during this adventure. Though I wish you to follow me wherever I go, I simply cannot ask you to come along this time. I also cannot say what will happen to you in this time, just know the time we spent together was precious to me. And that if your heart still belongs to me upon my return, perhaps we'll be happy again. But my dear people change, and people forget things. Should you be gone when I return, I just wanted you to know that I'll always treasure the time we spent together. Prince Marth Lowell
She started crying when she read the last lines. Sheik was struggling inside. He had a desperate need to mock the Prince, and a desperate need to help Zelda. But neither of these were as pressing as his desperate need to eat. He triggered a transformation.
"I know what'll make things better Zel. FOOD! especially something chocolaty." He leapt out the window, hit the ground and made a mad dash for the kitchen. The sheikah booted open the door and fell to his knees in terror. One of his worst nightmares had come true.
"SOMEONE, QUICK! A MADMAN HAS DESTROYED OUR KITCHEN!" Then he caught a whiff of something. It was horribly burned, but to his expert stomach it was easily recognizable. "Do I smell cookies?" He turned and looked towards Ike and the trainer.
He eyed up Ike's pink oven mitts and strangely form fitting apron and sighed sadly. "Oh sweet Nayru...not another one." The sheikah shook his head as he heard Zelda squeal happily in the back of his mind.

Pikachu tossed and turned all night. House Master? Him? He didn't know what to say, let alone do, when that great responsibility was bestowed upon him. "Don't worry too much about it," Mewtwo said pleasantly. "You'll do just fine.""But Mewtwo, this...it's so sudden. I mean, I've never led people in my life! We'll, I've lead Pokemon from time to time...but that's different and..." "Are you doubting my judgment? That's not a wise move my friend. Besides, as much as I hate to admit it, you've beaten me more then once. You're a strong fighter, I can sense it. And don't worry, we'll still be...well...friends when I return."Pikachu knew how hard it was for Mewtwo to use the term "friend", so he ran in and gave the purple Pokemon the biggest hug he could. He then turned to Marth and thanked him for being his friend. They both meant so much him. "Don't forget, you guys promised to find a way to get me home! You can't back out on that!" And then they were gone. Just like that. Pikachu woke with his eyes burning and his tail twitching. His fur was more zig-zag then usual. But he had to get up. He had a job to do. He reached over to the printer and grabbed some very colorful paper. Next to it was a roll of duct tape, which the yellow Pokemon also took. He slowly opened his door and quietly walked across the hall, hoping he hadn't woken anybody up. He taped the papers on key points in the house, hoping the other smashers would see them. The message was simple: Greetings from the Management!
As your new Co-Master, I invite each and everyone one of you to enjoy are incredible facilities. We've got Go Karts, Gold, Racing, a pool, plus other things I don't even know about. Feel free to explore the forest too. Oh, and don't worry about any danger. Marth says nothing bad will happen...at least for awhile. He didn't explain how he knew, just that it had something to do with the mission.
So, until something earth shattering happens, enjoy the mansion to its fullest!
- It wasn't the best poster, but it got the point across. He didn't want to scare anybody, but he felt like he could believe Marth. Plus he felt safe, something that he hadn't felt for a long time. He loved being able to sense things humans couldn't. Being a Pokemon was awesome! He found himself walking towards the kitchen when the most horrendous smell caught his nose. He ran in and thought that the food had come alive and declared war with the dishes. "Woah, what's going on here?"

The first light broke through the blinds on the window by Falco's bunk. The window was right next to where he lay on the bunk above Falco, so when it came to eye level it roused him from his sleepy state.
Fox was still asleep, or so he assumed, in the bunk below him. Fox had known the masters longer than himself, so Falco wasn't sure what he felt. What Falco did know was that Fox was once again a commander, and he had to support him however he could. So in that respect, nothing has changed.
What had changed was that Marth and Mewtwo were gone. Falco didn't know what to make of it, seeing as they were both the most important members of the mansion. Whatever they had to do, it had to be important if they had to make their journey alone. It made Falco's stomach drop when he thought about it. He hoped that wherever they were by now, they were okay.
Falco leapt soundlessly off of the bunk, and geared himself up for the day. He fitted his scanner and strapped on his boots. He made for his blaster, but retracted his hand from it. Today would be the first day he could talk to some of the new members, it would be a bad idea to walk around with it.
Falco left the room and started down one of the mansion's many hallways. He tapped his scanner, and searched for a particular frequency. It beeped at regular intervals, but returned a negative signal. His Arwing was still lost.
Whenever Fox asked Falco what was on his mind, he would just reply, "I feel like flying," and whilst it was just a standard response from Falco, it was beginning to be more true the longer he remained flightless.
Falco stopped at the entrance of the kitchen, to the sight of a rather war-stricken battlefield of failed recipes, and a blanket of flour. 'No way in heck am I getting blamed for this'.
Falco decided to skip breakfast for the moment. Fox and himself could both go for days without food, their endurance training still reaping benefits in as strange a world as this.
He walked into the living room and spotted the yellow Pokemon, Pikachu, running about with a pile of posters. He was having a little trouble finding a perch from which he could tape up a poster on the wall.
Falco walked over, and without a word, took the poster from him and stuck it up on the wall, reading it as he did.
"The forest?" Falco mumbled, running his right hand over the scanner. "Pikachu, I might explore the forest today". Falco turned to the pokemon and smiled in his usual cocky way. Falco knelt down, "You seem to be on top of things already, that lazy Fox is still asleep. Don't worry too much about your new found role, when it really matters I'm sure you'll lead us just fine".
Falco still thought about Pikachu's lack of confidence at the table last night, and decided the Pokemon needed some encouragement. It wasn't something Falco was very good at, seeing as the pep talk was usually Fox's job. Maybe he'd heard enough of them to try it himself. Either way, he hoped it worked.

Luigi rubbed his eyes as he walked into the kitchen. He was never good at waking up so freaking early. The commotion that came from the kitchen woke him. He walked in to see a horde of Pokemon attacking the fridge. He pulled a pack of sausage out from under them and walked to the stove. He turned his head back towards the other occupants of the kitchen. "I think theres enough for us all. You want?" Luigi asked politely.

Luigi waved off the rudeness of the young boy. As he wiped off the ice cream from his face, he bowed courteously. "I am Luigi, a plumber that hails from the Mushroom Kingdom. And may i ask who's presence I am honored with?" This last comment he directed towards the whole room, as he knew no one in the kitchen.

Pikachu smiled. "Thanks Falco. That means a lot. It's just tough, you know? We got all these new members, I haven't even seen the whole mansion, let alone what's outside."
He took a deep breath and continued. "But Mewtwo's right. I need to be more confident. I used to be a ton more confident back in my world, so all I have to do is go back to that." He gave Falco a peace sign.
"And thanks for helping me with the poster...but," a flash went by and Pikachu was ten feet off the ground. He quickly put the paper on the wall. Another flash went by and Pikachu was on the bottom again. "...I think I can handle it. I'm not completely useless after all."
He realized what he said and mushed his hands across his face. "Oh crap, I did it again. I gotta stop being so unconfident." He made a couple of jabs at the air to try and look tough, but it only made him cuter.
Then his eyes focused on Falco. "Hey, you're pretty amazing at fighting. Wanna train together? I promise I wont slow you down."
Before he could hear the pilot's answer, he heard various crashing sounds in the kitchen.
"Darn it. We'll get back to this conversation alright?"
He ran out of the room and into the kitchen. Or perhaps battle zone would be the better word. Food was running rampant, as if it were alive. He saw the other smashers gobbling up the food and dropping it on the ground with very little care. It was a sight to behold.
"Hey, what's going on in here? Is this breakfast or a nuclear meltdown?"

Falco found himself in the company of the blonde haired Princess as Pikachu dashed into the kitchen. Falco placed his hands on his hips, "Not Bowser, but something equally as destructive. Ike and Red's pokemon the last time I checked," Falco tapped his foot.
"Some of these guys are so selfish. When Fox and I are holed up on remote battlefields, we'd scavenge and hunt for our own food," Falco made to reach for his blaster, and when he grasped empty air, he grumbled, remembering that he had left it in his room.
The sound of a flame bursting to life in the kitchen could be heard from where they were standing. I would steer clear of the kitchen until Pikachu has it under control, Falco scratched the back of his head before continuing on a new line of thought. I guess were on holiday until our masters return, Falco thumbed the poster Pikachu put on the wall, I think Ill look around the forest today, how about you?.

Luigi looked back to see a small yellow rodent run in.............and then he saw the princess. He dropped the sausage, completely ignoring Ike's comment on wanting sausage, and stooped into a low bow. He looked up, still bowing, and said in the most polite way possible.... "Where the heck have you been? I am SICK of always having to save your butt from Bowser!!!! You know, you need to learn to fight. I mean FOR REAL! I am sick of having to eat these dang mushrooms just to save you! They dont taste like cake you know! That is some nasty crap my friend and YOU are the reason i have to eat it! And those fire flowers aint great either! They make my mouth burn but nooooooooooooo you dont care! You just sit back and get kidnapped all day! Well Im through!" He looked up at the princess and quickly apologized, retreating back to the stove and began cooking quietly.

Pikachu shook his head and waved his arms from side to side. "Woah woah woah! Calm down guys. You're making this way too difficult."
He jumped off the table and galloped over to the refrigerator. He jolted to the middle of the refrigerator and pressed a button. The fridge rocked like an earthquake. Steam exited from large holes on the fridge's side. Just when it seemed like it was about to explode, it came to a grinding halt. Pikachu counted to three before opening the door.
Inside were full course meals fit for a king. Steak, lobster, chicken, salads, pastas, fruit, bread...it was all there. It was a sight to behold.
"Everything here's pretty automated. You can find similar buttons on the stove and microwave. I don't even know what they all do." He paused for a moment. "But don't let that stop you from cooking. If you really want to make something, it's all here for you."
As he walked back towards Falco, he felt a very soft and very cold sensation on his foot. He needed to figure out which button cleaned the mansion and fast!
Even with all this commotion, Pikachu couldn't help but overhear Peach's concern. It must be hard, ruling a kingdom. He only gained power yesterday, and he was already exhausted!
He climbed onto Peach's shoulder and gave her a hug. "Come on Peach! Don't cry. I'm sure all those toadies are fine. There's no use worrying yourself over it. That's not gonna save them." He wiped off one of her tears with his fur. "You gotta be strong, tough!" He kicked the air. "That's what it takes!"
He looked over at Falco. "Plus, we couldn't go back even if we wanted to. There's some kind of force here that's keeping us away from our friends. Plus, though I can't say this for fact, but I think there's a different time correlation here. Meaning, I'm pretty sure time moves faster here then in our own worlds. I don't know, what do you think Falco?"
Falco had the most experience with different planets, so Pikachu figured he be as good a creature to ask as any. Plus, if Pikachu was going to be a leader, he needed to know more about his team.

Falco crossed his arms, giving a drawn out 'Hmmmmmm' as he thought on it for a moment. "Well, I'm not normally the go to guy on matters of physics," normally the team left that train of thought to Slippy, if his ex-gang member accent wasn't a dead giveaway as to how educated he was, he didn't know what would be. "But I think what we gotta take into account is that when we refer to this place as a 'world', I guess we don't really mean that," Falco scratched the back of his head, deciding he could've put that across better.
"It's like this," Falco made a motion with his hands, "Back in my galaxy, all the known races of intelligent life forms have evolved into what many refer to as 'anthro-morphs'. Fox and I are kinda like humans, but are also kind of like animals too," Falco turned to Pikachu, "Pikachu's galaxy is inhabited by both humans, like mi'lady Peach here, and pokemon. Now the point I make is, is that in my galaxy, we don't have pokemon type animals who can shoot lightning in much the way our Pikachu can. It just defies the physics of our galaxy. There is every reason to believe that our physics are different, and that time goes slower".
Falco then realized something very important to the explanation he was giving. "Also, you should know that when both Fox and I entered this realm from ours at virtually the same time. However Fox came through first, and was here for a substantially longer time than I. Almost a year in fact, before I awoke here." Falco crossed his arms again, pleased with himself, "Every second that goes by in our respective galaxies of origin is equivalent to years in this one," Falco turned to Peach, "Marth must know this too. He has his kingdom of Altea to worry over as you have yours. Don't worry mi'lady, By the time we all return to our galaxies of origin, barely a few seconds will have passed, I'm sure".

Luigi stared as the fridge made the food, semmingly by magic. He always loved to cook, and he had looked forward to cooking delicious meals for the whole mansion. He sighed in despair, watching as the young yellow rodent showed off the appliances. He put down his spatuala and the bottle of herbs and spices and walked to the fridge, grabbing a bottle of Sunny D and opened it, downing the contents in one gulp. He went to stand by the stove again, his eyes trailing from Ike to the Pokemon Trainer, then to the blue bird and the yellow rodent, and then finally he rested his eyes on Peach. He noticed that she was shaking, as if she was about to cry. I should comfort her.......but then again, shes Mario's girlfriend. I dont want Daisy to think im cheating on her.........Oh well PEach needs a hug. Luigi thought to himself. He started to walk over when the yellow rodent jumped on her shoulder. He watched as the yellow rodent talked, and then saw Peach burst into tears. Hes making her cry! he thought. As his anger towards the creature built, he called upon his affinity towards Thunder and made a small lightning ball in his hands. When he had a clear shot, he hurled it at the yellow rodent, sure it would not miss...

Sheik looked around at all the people who flocked into the kitchen. He barely had time to think about what Ike was doing, let alone act before the kitchen was full of people yammering on about a commotion in the kitchen.
Wow...they must all have supersonic hearing, I usually have pretty good ears for loud noises and I didn't hear anything that sounded like a commotion coming from here. The sheikah shrugged it off, blaming his hunger for not hearing the supposed crashes and bangs coming from the kitchen.
"Ike, I know you like food, but I've recently discovered that there are some things you just don't want to shove in your mouth." He took the yellow bottle from the man "This is one of those things, as we both just found out." He chucked the mustard in the opposite direction and heard a thud as it hit Luigi in the back of the head.
"Let's go find you that well, in the meantime, here's a drink" Sheik said handing ike a glass and motioned towards the door. For the first time in his life, he actually wanted to get out of the kitchen.

Falco laughed to himself when Peach asked if they would help her. "Starfox will take just about any job for the right price," it was then that Falco saw out of the corner of his eye a stray lightning bolt whose target seemed to be Pikachu. Falco was quick to unattach his reflector and kick it into the bolt's path, deflecting its path into the ceiling. It struck an overhanging marble statue with enough force to break it loose and fall, Peach and Pikachu in its path. Falco jumped into the air to meet it with a well timed kick, changing ts trajectory to ensure whatever it landed on didn't include any of the smashers. Falco landed in a roll, and made to draw his blaster, but instead held a seemingly invisible weapon at the bolt's origin, a tall, thin man in a green shirt and blue overalls.
"Hey, what's the big idea!?"
The morning of the first day with Marth and Mewtwo and already the mansion had gone into disarray.

Pikachu was about to respond when he sensed the lightning ball approaching him like a bullet. He didn't have time to see where it came from. He focused his energy into his hands and charged them with a magnetic pulse that was the opposite charge of the electric sphere approaching him.
But just as he was about to pass it, he saw Falco do the most amazing maneuver he'd ever seen. As impressive as it was, damage was still made to the house.
"Thanks Falco, but I think I had that covered pretty well." He smiled and brought his energy levels back to normal.
He hopped off of Peach's shoulder and approached the statue. In the pile of rubble he could make out a very oddly shaped head, a protruding stomach, and a backpack with what looked like maps inside of it.
"Well, at least it wasn't that pretty," he said as he picked up the head.
He looked over at the man Falco was talking to. He looked more like a maintenance worker then a villain. But he couldn't help but feel like he had seen him before. Then Pikachu remembered that list Marth had given him before he left. It had pictures of all the smashers that still needed to come to the mansion, along with their names and a brief description.
"Hey, you must be...um...Lu-EYE-gi. Welcome to the mansion my friend. Though let's try and cause a little less problems. Don't worry, you're not in danger. In fact, it says so right here!"
Pikachu gave the green man a flier. He felt pretty show-offy, but the pokemon was pretty proud of the workmanship...though he made the poster last night with crayons and masking tape.

"Thank you," said Luigi simply as the yellow rodent handed him a flyer, which seemed to be very cheaply made. He took the flyer, folding it up and putting it in the front pocket that was on his plumber uniform. Luigi looked around at the damage he cause. "I apologize for the damage, Master.......... um......... I didnt quite catch your name... Actually, i only know Peach and the young boy, Ike. Im kinda new you see. So yeah........." Luigi's voice trailed off as he became more and more embarassed, his cheeks flushing with color. He wished he had a mushroom handy that would allow him to shrink. He hated being embarassed, and he had just brought this on to himself. "Well," he said, speaking to the rodent, "what is the purpose here? Are there going to be opening ceremonies?" He leaned against the wall as he waited for an answer.

"Oh ok," Luigi said. "So let me get this straight. A hand is attacking people or whatever, and we are all here to stop it. Sounds mildly fun!" Luigi leaned forward and grabbed an apple from the counter behind Pikachu. He always seemed to be hungry, no matter what happenned. "If you'll excuse me," he said to Pikachu. He wheeled around the mouse and went out of the room, stepping over the debris from his attack. He went to his room and started to sort through his bags, in search of his console. He searched and searched, finally pulling out his Wii. He smiled, glad he had brought it, and walked to the living room, where a huge T.V. sat. He plugged it in, setting aside three controllers and turning on one of them. He proceeded to open up the game that was inside of it, Wii Sports, and walked to the kitchen. He then poked Pikachu, Falco, and Peach. When he had there attention, he asked politely, "I got a game system out there. Would you like to play?"

Falco recoiled his arm as though he'd fired a bolt from his blaster, and stood up from his kneeling position. "Sorry Pikachu, old habit's die hard".
By this time Luigi had walked back into the room, prodding each of them, and wielding what appeared to be a white remote, asking us if we wanted to play on his game system. Falco remembered briefly the days when he and Fox would waste time playing their gameboy color's, but for the moment at least, he had other activities in mind for today.
"I think I'll pass Luigi, I've got some exploring to do today," Falco left for the kitchen, which was now in less of a disarray than before thanks to Pikachu's explanation of modern kitchenware. Falco opened a pouch on his belt, stuffing its contents with whatever food he could find in amongst the other smashers whom had gathered.
"I'm exploring the forest today, if anybody wants to come," Falco didn't really expect a response, if only because they shouldn't talk with their mouth's full.
Falco left the kitchen, and headed for the front door. It was going to be good to get out for once.
