Great Sea Wars is a systemless game based primarily around RPing. As such, players are required to be reasonable and realistic. Overpowered or otherwise impossible ideas may be banned at the War Moderators' discretion.

LOGS
-One game day equals one real day.
-RPing in GSW is carried out in a 'logbook' format. In each log, you list your current projects and troop recruitment totals, then write first-person narratives from some or all of your characters.
-Read ALL posts that you haven't yet before posting, so you know what is happening.
-Information posted in a log is not public knowledge. When you send a letter, it cannot be intercepted easily. Point is, just because someone has it in their logs for all to see, it doesn't mean that you can act as though your character knows it. For example, if someone is plotting to betray you behind your back, you can't act as though you know it.
-You must include a list of characters, locations, special items, troops, territories, projects, and any other relevant information with each log. If it's not in your log, it doesn't exist.

CHARACTERS
-You may only control up to two sets of "main character(s)" at the start, known as Generals.
-You may gain an additional General every 7 days, up to a maximum of three. If you have three generals and one dies, you must wait 7 days from the death to replace him or her.
-Generals can be defined as "major or unique characters capable of fighting better than regular troops." Regardless of what plot rank you give such a character, he or she will still be counted as a General for gameplay purposes
-Feel free to be creative when choosing your Generals, but don't overpower them.
-Character transformations not present in the LoZ series are not allowed, nor are transformation items like masks or rings.

-Characters that do not fight are considered Companions. Companions are important to the plots, but do not have the power of Generals.
-Companions may later be promoted to General status, but normal limitations on recruitment still apply.

-Characters from other sources are allowed as Generals only, but will need to be toned down appropriately if overpowered, physically or otherwise.
-Original characters may be used as either Generals or Companions.
-Dead characters may not be resurrected.
-Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf may not be in the same army. They do not have any Special Items from the games with them.
-There is only one of each character. No duplicates.
-Killing a major character not currently in use is forbidden and may be punished with expulsion from the game.

ARMY
-You may start out with up to 10,000 troops, and further advance to an army limit of 25,000.
-Soldiers must be recruited through a realistic way.
-You are allowed to gain 1000 units every day. When you post your log, you may make up for any recruitment missed since your most recent log, so if two days have passed, you can recruit 2000 troops. If you do not take full advantage of this, however (e.g. only recruiting 500), the extra troops are lost.

NAVY
In order to ease the transition from HW to GSW for many players, ship combat has been designed to work more or less the same as land combat, but instead of troops, the base unit of power is guns. All aspects of a ship's strength, including crew size and troop capacity are abstracted into a number of guns, as follows:

-The minimum number of guns on a ship is 10. The maximum is 150.
-A ship needs troops on board to move, with a minimum of 2 troops per gun slot for effective operation. The maximum capacity is 4 troops per gun slot.
-Ship production is capped at 250 guns' worth per day. You may divide this up into any denominations you wish (within the limits), and surplus production may be carried over to the next day as necessary.
-Each player may start out with up to 2500 guns' worth of ships.
-Each player may build at a rate of one per week, but not have any at the start, at most one Flagship for each General. Flagships can have a minimum of 0 and a maximum of 500 guns. Flagships with less than 10 guns can be manned by a single General. Flagships are to regular ships what Generals are to troops. Feel free to be creative, but as usual, don't overpower them.
-When constructing a Flagship, the rate of building is 50 guns per day.
-Flagship construction replaces regular ship construction.
-Big Octos are banned from player navies until further notice.

LOCATIONS
-Any listed island may be used as a base.
-You may have as many bases as you wish, provided it is reasonable, regardless of whether you have a general there or not.
-Space may eventually run out. If you have an idea for a new island, run it past the War Mods before using it. You may only create one original island.
-Each island can only support a certain number of armies. Check with a War Mod if you are unsure if your island of choice has room left.
-The Tower of the Gods is not raised.
-No part of underwater Hyrule, or any location other than the surface of the Great Sea, may be used as a base. Portals may appear as part of a special event.

PROJECTS
-Normal game timing will be used for building structures, researching technologies, and other appropriate events such as rituals. When any of these are completed, state what it does, and how it can be destroyed/countered. That is out-of-game knowledge, until figured out in-game.
-List all timed projects together. Keep the amount reasonable (e.g. you wouldn't be doing much else while building a castle).

SPECIAL ITEMS
-You may acquire as many Special Items per week as you wish, provided it is reasonable. The War Moderator will decide whether the speed of finding is reasonable. If you are unsure, it is recommended that you ask the War Moderator.
-A “Special Item” is defined as an item or song found in a Zelda game, any unique item, or a player-created item, that has special properties. Examples: Song of Storms, Book of Mudora, Bombos Medallion, Din’s Fire. The Megaton Hammer and its like are NOT Special Items for there is nothing special about them.
-All Special Items that are found in a Zelda game are in their respective locations, or as near to them as can be placed if the games do not align well. Any Special Items that are not originally found on the Great Sea can be found anywhere, as long as it is reasonable. If you are in doubt, ask the War Moderator.
-The Triforce is in the Sacred Realm, which is sealed by the Master Sword.
-Several abilities and items are reserved to only to characters who are not counted as troops. These are listed below.
-No long distance teleportation is allowed (e.g. songs, Farore's Wind). Short distance teleportation, such as that of Wizrobes or the Smash Bros. Farore's Wind effect, is still allowed for those that have it in the games.
-Relics are Special Items that cannot be duplicated. They are limited to only the ones in existence already, and once destroyed cannot be remade except by War Moderator intervention.

WAR MODERATORS
-Respect the War Mods. They exercise arbitrary power, and may state exceptions to the rules if the situation is appropriate.
-War Mods can play in the game; however, their actions are subject to the jurisdiction of the other War Mods.
-Multiple War Mods cannot be allies in the game.
-If a war mod is considered biased, a vote will be taken by all players in good standing. A two-thirds majority will result in the reversal of the War Mod's decision or, in severe cases, removal of the War Mod.
-At any time, a War Mod may initiate a Random Event. These events may affect either players or locations. There is no set pattern to them, and they may or may not be beneficial. At times, they are not random and are instead planned story events, such as the emergence of the Tower of the Gods.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES
-If you have an issue with a War Mod or with another player, bring it up in the OOC forum; don't clutter the War topic.
-If you are eliminated or choose to quit, you may not return for the remainder of the game.
-Nothing ridiculously overpowered. Be reasonable. For example, one cannot continuously use Nayru's Love. People do not have infinite wellsprings of magic.
-Unless you provide prior warning, you have 72 hours to reply to any event relating to you. If you do not reply within that time, the other person gets to do as he wishes. In the event of a battle, your army suffers a complete defeat, while your opponent has minimal casualties.
