Right now, I'm holding little hope for GSW. Quite honestly, we've been through several restarts, and none of them have ever had the charm of the original. Quite honestly, it doesn't hold the same appeal to me as it once did, and that's because we keep doing the same thing of developing technologies and sending out letters for allies and such. It may have higher quality posts, but they're still the same basic stuff. No matter the ruel setup, it will still always be GSW. I think we should let it die and come up with something new.

What I propose is that we make a project where we, as a group, would write a fanfic, or even an original 'novel'(although I don't think we should be aiming quite for novel length... maybe one of those short novels). All the users could contribute to plot and overall structure, and those with the more literary talent would do the actual writing.Of the more dedicated old timers, I think that includes James, Trev, and myself. I know there are more out there like Swordmaster, but they don't dedicate the same amount of time.

The best part about this idea would be that even if it becomes dead, we can just pick up where we left off later on. It would have infinitely more potential in terms of variety than GSW because we could take the plot wherever we wanted it to go. I think it would be a fresh idea, and better than us all sitting around whining about how GSW is dead and about the 'system'.

So... thoughts? Opinions? I'm just sick of the silence that's around this board all the time.

Whoa, I never noticed this. Guess I never scroll this low.

You certainly have a point, Exo. GSW has obviously lost some of its appeal. And honestly, who actually read everyone's posts? I hardly ever followed what was going on unless I was expecting something involving me to happen. Hence, I was mainly interested in what I was writing myself and consequently got bored of it rather quickly.

As for your idea, I'm certainly intrigued. Doesn't mean I'll stop beating GSW with a stick, but the more happening, the better.

Well, posting from Westland... and only James has posted? Blah. You people need to use the 'Today's Active Topics' link more often.

Anyways, I pretty much think that the way things work in GSW makes it so that there's no real... uncertainty between players, whereas characters would have that. Battles... are better when written than posted losses. I'm just saying that in writing a story, there's a lot more potential for it to be interesting. I mean, I find the cutscenes more entertaining that the actual game... they're more fun to read. So you pretty much get to lose interest whenever something doesn't concern you...

Besides, if we write our own story, we'd have a hell of an editing crew. It'd be hard for us all to miss something, and we'd have a sh**load of quality control.

This is quite a good idea. I'd certainly be interested. I suppose I'm not really an "old-timer", especially as I haven't been here for a bit. But I'd help with this in any way I could. I think an original "novel" would be better because otherwise it might be hard to agree which "fandom" to write about. Just my thoughts.

^ For the record, this WAS a better idea than continued war restarts.

Feasibly we could still try. Though it would require us to be in a non-public forum, as well as a lot of effort. A summer project is more likely, if you were in fact insinuating that it might still be a good idea. Unfortunately, that's rather far off for us now. Unless we put in small blocks of weekend time that we don't really have.

Trev, are you ever on AIM or MSN anymore? I haven't seen you in a length of time equal to the limit of x^2-4x+4 as x approaches infinity...

Dude, I got it a few months ago, you silly. GSW has just been too dead for us to inform each other.

Fortunately we all check the board even when it goes months without posts.
