So! On this page is located all of the rules that you must follow if you intend to be a member of Golden Sunrise forums! See, by joining, you sign this invisible contract with us that says you read these, and you intend to follow them. That's why, if you don't follow them, the administration reserves the right to kick your sorry butt out. Don't worry, we'll do it nicely. We may even offer a cookie. But not reading these rules is no excuse for misbehavior. So pay attention, class!

I. Forum rules

These items are The Law. Violations of the rules will result in immediate action by moderators or admins no matter who you are.

You are expected to read and be familiar with this document.

The following items are prohibited:

- Any talking about details of the process of sex, methods, or instuments used in sex are prohibited, along with pornographic images and links to sites with such material
- Links to illegal files (music, warez, CD cracks/codes, etc...)
- Hate speech in any form (including racism, sexism, etc...)
- Profanity is tolerated, but it must be kept to a minimum. (We need to remember that even though you need to be 13 years old to join, it's still gauged at an 'E' rated crowd.)
- Spam of any kind.*
- Blackmail, personal privacy violations, or any other action that could harm a member in any way.
- Flaming or flamebaiting. Flaming is essentially insulting or verbally attacking someone, flamebaiting is provoking them to flame you. These will be determined at the discretion of the mods and admins.

The moderators reserve the right to warn or ban at any time, without reason or notification given. However, in 99% of cases, this forum operates on a three warning system. For a first offense, especially a small one, you'll receive an unofficial verbal warning. If it happens again, you'll receive a first official warning. Your second warning after that will result in a 24 hour ban, at the discretion of the warning staff member. If you're caught breaking rules again, a permanent ban is issued. Permanent bans are also immediately issued for posts that contain pornographic materials, mass spamming, or other offenses the moderators deem to be serious. You will be notified via forums and PM when these official warnings occur.

*Spam, in case you don't know, is normally defined as any pointless messages, anything off-topic, posts that just have a few words and don't really say anything, (although if you are posting to agree or disagree with someone, a one word post would be fine,) or double posting on purpose. If you just spam once or twice, we'll let you go with a quick reminder not to do so. But if you continually spam the forums, you will receive warnings and eventually be banned. Mass spamming our forums will get you an immediate ban, no questions asked.

Advertising is acceptable, as long as the websites involved do not contain any material violating these rules.

II. Forum Etiquette

These items are not law, but rather suggestions. It's best to abide these so everyone has a similar attitude and don't clash on views/actions.

1. Pointing out Spelling/Grammar errors isn’t necessary.

The best way to improve the overall presentation of the forums is not to post in every poorly written thread complaining about it. Instead, practice what you preach: try to write reasoned, well-thought out, well-written posts. Adding a little note in your post telling someone that they should try and be more literate wouldn’t hurt.

2. Post count doesn't make you too cool for rules.

Length of time on the forums, the amount of posts you have or any other means of measurement does not absolve you of responsibility. If anything, we expect long-term members to behave in a more mature fashion, and help make these forums a great place for discussion with gamers!

3. You’re not a moderator.

So there’s no need to post in someone’s topic saying “This will be closed soon!” or “why did you write this?” or demanding that the moderators close the topic or ban the member. In fact, this is one of the quickest and easiest ways to get on the moderators’ bad sides.

There’s nothing more unpleasant than having someone else tell you how to do your job. Moderators are chosen because they are believed to be perfectly capable of handling whatever goes on at these forums. If you believe a certain moderator isn't doing their job correctly, instead of yelling at them on the forums, private message the administrator and explain why you think this person isn't doing their job, and we'll look into it. Although if the person seems new and clueless, feel free to explain the rules to them or link them to the rules page.

If someone is being exceedingly disruptive, feel free to bring it to a moderator’s attention via private messaging or email.

4. You do not have the right to insult/attack/etc someone for ANY reason.

People are going to ask questions that have already been asked, bring up topics that have already been discussed, and so forth. These things happen. If you’re not interested in the topic at hand, simply don’t post!

5. Try to stay on topic.

This particularly applies to Golden Sun discussions, but even in the Off-Topic area, we’d still prefer you avoid making random, off-topic posts for no reason. Extreme violation of this could be considered spam! The only place spam is allowed is in the Randomness section of the forums, which is designated for this purpose.

They will do whatever necessary to make posting here as safe and comfortable as possible. Golden Sunrise reserves the right to terminate or ban an account at any time, for any reason, without warning, notification, or explanation.
