Set in a world just slightly different than the real world, the comics and the movies alike, Xavier's Institute for Gifted Youngsters specializes in the training and protection of the next breed of mutants. They fight not only for equality and acceptance, but to protect mutant and human alike from the machinations of evil forces who would seek to twist the world to their own ends. Founded by Charles Xavier, the school serves as a home for those who would otherwise be rejected in normal society.

Below, you'll find lists of characters who are either taken permanently or tentatively. What's the difference? Permanent characters have already had bios submitted, discussed, and approved, while tentative characters are just that- tentative. Tentative characters are ones who don't have bios filled out yet but who've been requested or who haven't been approved yet. Any tentative character who hasn't at least submitted a bio within two weeks of requesting said character loses the right to reserve that character further or request them again. Each player can have one tentative character held, so if you're planning on playing two, let us know which one you're looking to hold, and ideally, it'll give you a little more impetus to get a bio up for the one you're not holding faster ;)

In an effort to make people's characters unique, and to help everyone enjoy the gaming experience a little more, we're going to cap the amount of characters who can possess a certain power in the game. Depending on how distinctive or rare the power is, we might allow more or less people to possess it, but it's not likely that more than three people will have the same sorts of power (pyrokinesis is a common power, while pheremone control is a much more rare one). Some powers, like superhuman strength or flight, are pretty common, and probably won't be restricted unless we have a surfeit of applications for them.
- Pheremone Control (Gosamyr)
- Protoplasmic Biology (Random)
- Intuitive Invention (Forge)
- Energy Conversion to Lasers/Concussive Blasts (Cyclops, Dazzler, Karolina Dean)
- Metallic Body (Colossus, Junkpile, Mercury)
- Temporal/Reality Manipulation (not ever, nobody)
- Telepathy/Empathy (Gosamyr, Kid Omega, Cuckoos, Moonstar, Frost, Xavier, Jean Grey)
- Tattoos (Ink)
- Feral Powers/Form (Wolfsbane, Wolverine)
- Superspeed (Northstar, Speedfreak, Velocidad (temporal control effect that replicates superspeed power)
