Clarice wandered past the stables, stopping to pet several of the horses. Someday, maybe when it was warm again, she was going to learn to ride. As it was, she couldn't imagine sitting astride one of the large beasts and freezing her ass off while her muscles complained at the unfamiliar exercise. Plus, she was still a bit nervous of falling off. With a wave to the beautiful beasts, she pulled the stable doors closed behind her and continued her walk. It amazed her how large the land around Xavier's was. She felt like she could wander forever and never run into another soul. It was a very odd feeling for the Florida native, not unwelcome, just odd.

After another 10 minutes of walking, she paused, sure she had seen someone through the trees. "Hello? Anyone out here?" When no answer came immediately she continued, pulling her cloak tighter, refastening the clasp under her chin. Just like the wildness of the land, Clarice was a stranger to the cold. But if she ever got too cold she could always teleport back to her room, one of the many benefits of being a purple freak, she thought with a sarcastic smile.

Sooraya had been out walking the grounds, for once the layers of her hijab came in handy blocking the chill. She'd walked to the stables to watch the horses and marvel at the beautiful creatures. She took a little comfort in watching the animals reminding her a little of home. After the confrontation she'd had in the danger room she had pretty much kept to herself wondering if perhaps the rest of the students were feeling the same way about her presence, blaming her for the things other muslims had done. The only connection being that they shared the same religion.


Clarice had indeed seen someone walking around, Sooraya appeared more like a walking shadow wandering the grounds dressed in her dark colored hijab. "Alikum Salam....." she said aloud greeting the purple girl. Her mastery of the english language was still not perfect but improving. "Hello......" she said smiling beneath her niqab as she walked a little closer.

Wanda came stalking into view, anger writ across her features like permanent marker on a white page. Her head snapped predatorially between the two girls, a snarl twisting her lip. Two of the freakiest of the freaks, yet not nearly as freaky as she. "Where is he?" she demanded in a voice that was strained with rage and deadly quiet. The air around her was warping with hex energy. She switched suddenly, as if a trigger had been pulled, a sweet and innocent smile filling her face, her body language vulnerable, but her eyes were dark and so cold they seemed to be dead. "Where's my boyfriend?" she asked in a sickly sweet tone.

"Saloom. Hey." Clarice knew she was saying it wrong, but that was the best she could do "Sorraya, right? It's beautiful here huh? In a cold, frozen everything's holding it's breath kind of way." Before she could say much else Wanda stalked up. The switch from raging Wanda to sweet Wanda was disturbing and Clarice wasn't sure how to respond. She didn't know why she would think he was with them but she shook her head anyway, "No clue. I haven't seen him since Halloween. Which, by the way, you had an awesome costume." She turned back to the Muslim girl, "American holidays probably aren't really your thing are they?" She looked at Wanda, "You still trying to get pregnant?" She winced as soon as the words left her lips and readied herself to grab Dust and teleport if Wanda got any more angry looking. She didn't want her lack of tact to wind up in pieces of them spread on the forest floor.

Sooraya smiled at the purple girl knowing she at least gave a try at pronouncing the greeting. "Yes...is Sooraya..............is quite beautiful." she added before she noticed the other girl searching for someone. "You look for large pale boy?.....I no see him....sorry" Sooraya said as she looked at Wanda. She turned back to Clarice "No understand american holidays.......muslim only have two.....we fast....and pray." she explained. "There are many american holidays?" she asked curiously She hadn't been in the country long but was slowly learning more about the new country.

"You haven't seen him? He's been hiding from me," Wanda pouted briefly before lighting a cigarette. She smiled again when Clarice asked her question. "A baby? Me? Why would I want a baby? You did see me in my costume. I will have babies after I am finished making boys drool from afar, and destroying them at my whim." She glanced over Sooraya as she stumbled through speaking English, growing more and more impatient the longer she spoke. Wanda hated soft-spoken people. How could you respect someone unwilling to respect themselves enough to be heard? She snorted irritably. "Sounds like a boring fucking place to live. Especially if they make you dress like that. I used to be in a place that was strict and made me wear clothes that had no shape." She inhaled deeply, then exhaled, blowing out a thick plume of smoke that she stared at Sooraya through. "I burned it down, with a flock of birds that turned into magma." She was grinning now, forget about Random, this was much more fun.

"if...you call...living in war zone boring.." Sooraya stated. "being hunted for....protecting self not boring....but terrifying" Sooraya continued to explain as best she could in broken english. "No one make me dress this way...I dress this way out of.....respect for myself....not draw....bad attention from men" she explained as best she could. "I had man attack me....try to take niqab from me........man is no more....." she said indicating that she inadvertently killed him. "No more than bones.."

Blink laughed, not unkindly, "Yeah, there's a ton. I'd see why you're not big on Halloween, or Christmas probably, but Thanksgiving's pretty good. Unless you have a strict diet you follow? Valentine's Day is lame, Fourth of July is cool though, it has fireworks and barbeque." She looked at Wanda and couldn't help but smile, "Yeah, you looked pretty great. I could see several of the guys going for you now, if you weren't dating Random that is." And freaking crazy she added in her head, grateful that Wanda couldn't read minds. She didn't know what to say, Afghanistan sounded pretty crazy to her but she couldn't imagine living like Wanda either. "I think it can be pretty crazy wherever you live. When I was in Miami, someone burned down my apartment building because I'm a mutant." She didn't mention that her entire family was inside, a few people at the school knew, but it wasn't something she talked about a lot.

"I burned a house down once," Wanda said, a satisfied smile on her lips. She looked at Dust then shrugged, "I was nearly raped once, too. By an orderly at the mental institute I was locked up inside." Her grin was savage now, "He had to have plastic surgery and cadaver parts put on once I was one. All I had was a safety pin, a lighter, and a whole lot of time because they ignored the screams that came in the night." She flicked her lighter on, lighting another cigarette before ashing the one she'd just finished on the sole of her shoe. "That place had some good times, hell hole that it was before I burned that place too. Set a cloud on fire, and it just dropped right on it. Fire everywhere." She blinked and said, "Wait, no. I dreamed that. Or maybe not." Confused, she started to tap her thigh irritably.

Chills ran down Clarice's spine at the detached way Wanda talked about the orderly she'd maimed. She flinched and took an involuntary step back when the crazy girl flicked the lighter, hating herself for the reaction. It was the world's tiniest flame and she still couldn't control her response to it. "I'm not a big fire fan myself." Around anyone else she might have just laughed off her reaction, but Wanda wasn't anyone else and she didn't want her to know how freaked fire made her.

Wanda kept the lighter on, looking past it to Clarice. Keen intelligence showed in her eyes as she noted the girls reaction. "Not a big fan?" she repeated, her Slavic accent heavy and her words thick and almost sultry. She took half a step toward the girl, then flicked the fire out. "I am a big fan." She laughed then, wildly as she leaned against a tree, feeling out of control, even to herself, but riding high on the moment instead of letting fear weasel it's way in. She sometimes scared herself with the vision of things she got. Like one of setting Blink on fire to see if the flames changed colors with contact with her skin. Blink hadn't even done anything to Wanda that she could remember, but the temptation was strong and she flicked the lighter once more before tossing it into the air, and blasting it. She watched with detached curiosity as the lighter exploded into flower petals. Problem solved by blasting. Any problem could be solved that way.

Sooraya looked at Clarice and gave a nod. "I do have strict diet....no pork." she explained. Sooraya was learning about the American holidays and was even curious about the one she had called the 4th of July it sounded exciting from the way Clarice had described it. "But I have wondered about taste....seen how others like it....but it is forbidden for Muslim to eat it." she added before glancing to Wanda and listening to Clarice as she talked about the costume she'd worn and the boys that would be after her. Being hunted because one was different was certainly crazy but being hunted to become a weapon was even crazier. "Bad men need be punished....for hurt women." she stated taking a little comfort in have something so terrible in common with the girl to know she wasn't alone.

Sooraya was no fan of fire either especially given the horrors she'd seen living in a war zone. She flinched as Wanda flipped her lighter into the air and then blasted it perhaps flashing back to something she'd seen sometime before she'd left her homeland.

Clarice clenched her jaw, trying to control her response. When Wanda blew up the lighter she was relieved and annoyed at herself for being so terrified of fire. She caught a flower petal, "Nice. Do you choose how things change?" It was hard to imagine Wanda purposely turning a lighter into a flower, but maybe she was nicer than she seemed. She was certainly okay at the moment.

"Pork is good. Bacon is the best. But as far as not being able to eat it that's better than it can be." She shrugged, "vegetarians have more restrictions. I like meat too much to be a veggie only eater." She wasn't trying to play down the Muslim girl's religion, but she had thought it was one with tons of random restrictions.

"I think..I have smelled that being cooked once." Sooraya said on the subject of bacon. "Smelled very good." She looked from one girl to the other and then back again. "Allah can forgive if that is the only thing to eat in order to survive." Sooraya couldn't imagine what life would be like if she could eat no meat at all, for she enjoyed having goat, and lambs and even some fish.

She looked over at Wanda. "That was interesting trick." she told her even though it had initially startled her.

"You liked that? I once made a guy's skin turn into flower petals. They all came off in the breeze. It sounded painful when he screamed," Wanda said idly. Thinking of people screaming made her think about Random. "Have you seen my boyfriend?" she asked suddenly, a dangerous sort of grin hitting her lips. She thought about Random a lot when she thought about people getting hurt. She never knew if it was because she wanted to hurt him, keep him from being hurt, or if it was because he seemed immune to the pain she caused others.

Clarice wasn't sure if Sooraya was saying Allah would forgive those who ate pork because they didn't know better or if she was going to try it and then ask forgiveness. She shrugged mentally, religions were weird.

She kept from wincing, "that sounds painful. No. Haven't seen him." She figured it was best not to mention that she'd already asked them that. Wanda was being nice enough but she was still the scariest person at the school. Easily. Clarice reflected how funny it was that someone as delicate looking as Wanda could make someone as huge as Evan less scary.
