Name: Dietrich (DEE trik) Williams

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Grade Level: Junior -- Four

Sex Preference: Bi -- though prefers girls

Appearance: The first thing a person notices about Dietrich is his wayward hair. Thick blends of black and brown strands curls two inches down his neck with several awkward pieces curling above his ears unevenly. Having never gone to a barber to trim his hair Dietrich would have an acquaintances or himself take a blade to the thick lot; as such nothing is ever perfect in length, much less in style. Even his bangs are no exception; long enough to cover his eyes the strands are cut at an angle (again unevenly) but enough of a difference that he can brush all to one side if they bother him.

The darkness of his hair draws out the paleness of his almond toned skin. Not exactly a lover of the outdoors Dietrich has restricted himself to keeping a step above ghostly pallor for the simple logic that he needs to go outside once in a while. Still, to keep up the subtle layer of muscles along his lanky six foot one frame Dietrich has to do more than his constant reading. Challenging himself he took up several forms of training; karate, fencing, and boxing. Naturally he begun his learning by reading up on each subject before actually hunting down an actual person to teach him.

As for his features, Dietrich sports a rather long, oval shaped face whose jawline ends in a smooth circle normally dusted with a day's growth of hair. His mouth is long with a slight Cupid's bow top lip and a light plump bottom. Even with a full mouth of white teeth you will never actually see Dietrich give a real smile; a forced one but not the real thing. In truth he does not know how to smile truthfully and if he happens to slip and give one it is surprising even to him. His drawn cheekbones seem stretched over high bones instead of hollowed or sharp in angles, which only draws more attention to his sloped nose and impressive eyes.

Long lidded and surrounded by long, thick rows of lashes many mistake Dietrich's expressions as a form of boredom as his eyes appear half open and half asleep. The color itself is difficult to put an exact shade too as his eyes have a tendency to switch tones, though only between the two colors. Deemed hazel Dietrich's eyes changes blends between an olive green and silver blue depending on the color of his clothing, his surroundings, and even the weather. They do not, however, change with his moods and reading into them is impossible. Even with a clear voice that is a blend of smoke and lyrics you could never actually tell what emotions are playing through his body.

In accordance to what he likes to wear, simple is better style; he'd wear the same outfit over and over only because it was comfortable and not because it held any real meaning to him. His selection of clothing is very ecstatic, his closet filled with simple tees, suits, jackets, and pants. Though he could mainly be found wearing vintage shirts and a jacket pulled over a pair of faded jeans with just as faded sneakers. A simple hobby but Dietrich has several sets of gloves; from leather to wool from snow to fingerless.

And one thing he has no say over would be the charcoal gray band around his wrist. Placed on his arm by the patrol officer in charge over him, Dietrich cannot remove the cuff as it is his personal location device used to keep track of him while on school grounds. Should he try and remove it himself it will alert officers of his escape and he will be escorted by an officer everywhere he goes; also, if he goes beyond the schools grounds an alarm will also go off and he will be removed immediatedly. Needless to say, Dietrich never removes his new 'bracelet'.

Avatar: Gaspard Ulliel

Personality:

Powers:

Smoke [stronger]
His element; Dietrich can create and manipulate smoke to any size of his own choosing though only when inside enclosed places, like buildings. Outside this ability is difficult to hold as the wind itself can destroy what he creates. This power is mainly used to create smoke screens to escape through or as a small scare tactic as he can create outlines of creatures within the smoke.

Messenger (Rin) -- Karma (Juju) [strong]
As part of his smoke power Dietrich can create two almost solid forms of thick smoke that react to his commands. The first is a small budgie bird made out of white smoke that acts as a small messenger for Dietrich; when in flight it can spot or spy on things from a higher and wider area before returning and 'showing' Dietrich what it saw. [answers to Rin]

The second is more of a larger defense as it is used simply to remove or move something from Dietrich's immediate location. The form is larger than the first with a mystical long tailed rooster appearance that can physically strike objects and people with a thick rush of smoke (almost like a strong punch). It is mainly used in close contact as holding the larger form is more difficult. [answers to Juju]

Steam [weak]
Dietrich is still trying to figure out how to change the temperature of his smoke abilities. For the moment he can hold a hot or icy sensation for very shot moments of time before he breaks out in a sweat from exertion.

Guardian [locked]

History: Dietrich Williams came into the world on a hot August day in Macon, GA to two parents that had no idea what to do with him. In fact, Dietrich was not even named until thirteen weeks after his birth and it was by a nurse instead of his own parents. The sad truth is that he had not been wanted by the couple to begin with; though they stuck to their duties and took him home from the hospital. Roger and Claire Williams were not the best choice of parents but they were Dietrich's and he couldn't change the facts.

Funny really, when the subject of children had been talked among the elder couple the only word to describe one would be 'interesting', but nothing permanent. The worst of it was that Claire was a ninth grade teacher and she simply loathed anyone under the age of fifteen; though she would care for her child only when someone mentioned the boy to her. Roger on the other hand made sure his mechanic duties at work kept him late each day. Still, not a good place to be when barely a month old.

It was by neighbors and the good grace of heaven that Dietrich actually survived his parents for so long. Most days he was ignored and he rather enjoyed the times when he could do whatever he wanted. With money so tight between the family the constantly moved about from motel to hotel depending on which parent made the bigger paycheck at the end of the two weeks. And it was on one of these moves that Dietrich finally found someone who cared.

He has just turned five, not that his parents could remember, when they moved into an apartment building for a change. Seems his parents had each made equal pay for the week and were indulging themselves. Dietrich was wondering about the halls looking for entertainment when he saw a short, old lady carrying two large bags of groceries coming down the hall. The reason why she caught his eye was because she was dropping most of what was in her bags down the hall as she went and the words coming out of her mouth wasn't any English he had heard before.

Watching the spectacle Dietrich would have continued on once she reached her room but it appeared she saw him around the same time. "Eh, come help Nina before she breaks something, muchacho," she said with a smile and indicated the fallen items behind her. Dietrich looked at her and then the groceries on the floor then back to the lady. She was still smiling as she waited, waited on an answer or waiting because he might do something...he wasn't sure. In truth Dietrich did not know what he should do but if it meant he could avoid his parents a little while longer....well, the smiling lady seemed liked a great idea.

So he picked up her bags of celery and toilet paper while she opened her room to lay down her bags; when she returned to help gather up what was left Dietrich readily handed over his stash. He was even brave enough to enter her own home to lay down what the two of them could carry and that was where he found his voice. For her entire apartment was filled with brilliant colors on the walls and statues and other random do-das that he had never seen before. Some of it was actually quite scary.

His first round of questions was "What is this?", followed quickly by "What does it do?" and then "Why do you keep it?" They hadn't even introduced themselves to each other and already Dietrich had found someone who would listen to him and answer him honestly. It was she who stopped him long enough to get his name and room number before she introduced herself as Nina Carlos, a grandmother of nine children who were all living in different states than her. She also explained that she was originally from California and that she was part Mexican, so her earlier bout of foreign language was Spanish.

Dietrich ate up the information like a sponge, wanting to know more. He stayed for hours just listening as Nina told him about each souvenir one of her children sent her or one she herself had bought throughout her fifty-seven years. She was kind and she was strict, letting him know what was what when he was around her. So it was that whenever he had to leave her to return to his own home Dietrich felt so lonely, more so than when he was always alone in his own house.

With unmindful parents it was easy for Dietrich to make constant trips back and forth between the homes to visit with Nina; though there were some times when he returned late only to find that he had been locked out of his home [which wasn't uncommon]. After Nina caught him sleeping in the hallway she made sure he had a place in her home should he need it. He took her up on the offer and stayed with her for days on end; Nina not minding the company of someone who had a love of information as she did.

They were teacher and student, Nina would teach Dietrich the rules of living in the world and the enjoyments it could behold while Dietrich sat attentive with questions to be answered. Though Dietrich feared that his parents would soon be moving he was pleased to find out that his stay would be much longer than before as paychecks became bigger. In fact his family stayed for four years in the same building before they moved again. This time, however, they left Dietrich behind.

Not even realizing anything was amiss the Williams simply left without a backwards glance while Dietrich was at school; school that Nina had placed him in and not his parents. It would have been proper to call child services when it was obvious of the child's abandonment but Nina did not have the heart loose him to the system. She willingly opened her home and heart to Dietrich.

He learned so much while living with her, she taught him Spanish as well as to always respect your elders. Knowledge was power and he filled himself with everything he could get his hands on, but his indulgence become something of a downfall when attending school. He was called a geek for knowing more than others his own age and he was picked on by others with nothing better to do. Fighting back only proved that he couldn't so he play down his intelligence to try and hide himself.

When he reached middle school he had had enough and read up on different skills to fight back with; then taking a chance he took on someone bigger than him and won. He was given respect for a few weeks before it all came crumbling down around him. Nina came down with a cold her old body could not fight; she was dying and knew that things would be much harder for Dietrich. At only thirteen he had grown up faster than a child should have too but he had been given a second chance at childhood when he had moved in with Nina. Now it seemed he would be going back to where he started.

Not wanting him to fear what was to happen Nina had Dietrich promise that he would see the world for her, see the true arts whose replicas decorated their home. She had meant it as a goal for when he was older but when it end came for Nina, Dietrich saw his promise as a purpose. When they no longer allowed him to stay by her body he left and went straight home to collect his things. He left nothing behind that was given to him and left no trace of him ever living there. Once he had what he needed he left immediatedly for the airport.

He was never afraid of what he was doing, he held his head high and his eyes clear when he lied for the first time. Telling a stewardess that his parent would be waiting for him in the next city became his life as he boldly walked onto planes around the world in plain sight. Using traveling parents, school trips, and even actually sneaking onto a plane was something Dietrich could do without fear. So it was that he saw the world for Nina.

Lying came too easily to his tongue as he found a new path in his life. On top of that were the desperate times he actually stole from someone in order for him to survive another day. Stealing had not been his calling, but when it became apparent that his constant running and hiding from bullies in school actually paid off for this career. Though he made a habit of never stealing large objects or too many objects from one person. A simple necklace or cuff would help carry him for several weeks if he could find the right payoff.

'Acquaintances' in the same league as Dietrich would bully him into helping them and sometimes they could and Dietrich would find himself with more cash than he actually needed. On top of a good intelligence he was also brilliant with languages. So he would travel to places like France, Italy, Ireland, Spain, and Japan seeing the world, learning as he went, and stealing from anyone who bothered him.

His constant moving around gave him an edge and anyone who slighted him with a look or word became targets to his anger. He would steal something of value and hock it without blinking an eye, even if they had been friends days before. The only way to describe it was that he was becoming apart of the streets, the bad sort. Though he had something he had to finish; a promise.

Nina wanted him to see the actual pieces of art she admired enough that she both replicas of so Dietrich would always visit a museum to see each piece. And it did not matter if the museum was open or not he would find a way inside. When Dietrich was fifteen breaking and entering was no longer a challenge to him so it was easy enough of a chore that he gained access within his latest adventure.

Museums were not on his list of places to steal from so every time he would find himself in one after hours it was only to see and not touch. Never having problems with any other habit Dietrich somehow found himself out of sorts when he broke into one while visiting Paris. It was memories that got him caught; he had been staring too long at a painting Nina had loved and all he could think about was how she would smile at him. The next thing he knew a bright light was shining in his eyes and some French night guard was yelling at him.

It was like being awakened from a deep sleep, panic settled in for the first time and Dietrich ran; setting off alarms and a few traps [which totally freaked him out]. He ran blind even though he knew the entire layout of the building, he couldn't stop his fear long enough to get his bearings and perhaps that was what set it all off. Coming around a sharp corner Dietrich ran straight into a responding officer who caught him completely off guard. And in that moment he set up his downfall...he fought back.

One well placed kick to the officer's head and he was knocked down and unconscious; all in front of two other responding officers. In an instant he knew he had made a mistake and his fear turned cold; he had assaulted an officer. He raised his arms above his head just as the two officers raised their guns but it was the museum's night guard that actually tackled him. He could hear the officers running over though he had his eyes closed and his head pressed against the floor hoping to just disappear. Maybe it was his wish that set things off.

Dietrich coughed as he was being handcuffed, not because he was out of breath but because there was a sudden thickness in his throat. The next thing he heard were the officers yelling about a fire; then one clearly stated "He set himself on fire!" Dietrich opened his eyes then wanting to know know who HE was and found himself surrounded in what appeared to be thick smoke...at which point something was thrown over his back and he felt someone patting him.

That got his attention! They thought HE was on fire, hell, he thought he was too! No idea how it had started by the smoke definitely seemed to be coming from him. Dietrich rolled and coughed as the officers tried to put him out and eventually the smoke begun to clear. Though the strangest thing was to be revealed when he was turned over to asset what damage had been done to him and there wasn't a single mark on him; not even a singe on any of his clothes.

Writing it off as a trick to try and escape the officers pulled Dietrich to his feet and escorted him out the building. The officer he had attacked was up on his feet once again and was following behind. Once outside Dietrich made a last attempt to escape by sliding his hands out of the cuffs and making a mad dash to freedom; that same officer collared him and physically dragged him back to the patrol car where he was none so gently thrown in the back. Evidently the sore officer wasn't up for anymore games from him.

Back at the station they booked him for breaking and entering then he was placed in a lone interrogation room for later questioning as other random b&e's sounded like something he would have committed around town; ironically it wasn't his doing. Though now that they knew he could slip out of cuffs easily and the fact that he supposedly tried to set himself on fire one of the officers found a strait jacket and eagerly placed Dietrich within its straps.

The wildest part was that Dietrich had finally gotten hold of his emotions and was now playing his part as an intelligent citizen who was as cold as ice towards anyone who questioned him. He would never admit, much less say anything to anyone who entered his small room; not even threats seemed to work on him. When the officer from earlier, his sore victim who he found out was named John Beaux, came in Dietrich was in the mood for games. Every time someone would ask him a question he would answer them honestly, only he did it in a different language.

First was in Spanish, they sent for a translator, but afterwards he switched to Japanese, then Greek, Sign Language, and then Pig Latin. Dietrich worked them each to boiling points with their anger when he finally begun reciting all of his confessions in Elven. Apparently Beaux had had enough of his games and ordered everyone to leave; still Dietrich wasn't afraid of this one man though he would come to respect him in a feared way.

For once the room was cleared that was when Dietrich learned a lesson about tempers. Beaux grabbed Dietrich at the throat of the jacket and slammed him against the wall, then the table, all without a word until he had released him to lay on the floor. "Do you want more?" Dietrich could barely breath much less answer that question, still he had enough arrogance to sit himself up and glare at the man. His own temper was surfacing and with it came power.

He literary breathed smoke when he challenged the officer to try that again; it wasn't something that was very noticeable though it was something unexpected. Dietrich actually lost focus of the situation and instead tuned into himself; blowing smoke when he hadn't had anything to lay cause on. He could even breath it out his nose, which allowed him to see that it had no smell. Annoying, yes, but also very confusing; perhaps he had hit his head a little too hard on the wall...or table.

For all his studies and intelligence Dietrich could not find the source of this phenomenon and it was starting to get to him when he couldn't figure it all out. It was his own body so he should be able too, but what was happening was far beyond his own mind. Sitting there getting frustrated Dietrich could have sat there forever until he had an answer but as luck would have it he wasn't alone. In fact, Dietrich had all but forgotten Beaux had he not heard the man laughing at him.

"So you're one of them, heh," Something along the lines of not being the only one with this problem made Dietrich forget his charade and address the officer in his tongue, which was French at the time. "One of what?" He thought he would be able to get some answers from the man but apparently the guy had no clue either. Come to find out the only reason why he wasn't freaking out on him was because he had a niece who could control the weather...strange how that works.

Needless to say the two had some very interesting questions. Now that there were no more games, no more violence [eye for an eye returned], Dietrich told the officer what he knew about the recent break ins for information about what was happening to him. Information was knowledge and what Dietrich learned was that there was an actual school that addressed issues like his own; one called Harbor Academy, in Galway Bay, Ireland.

Though it didn't matter what information he could find, almost as soon as he found out the name he was being packed to be sent to the nearest juvenile correctional facility. Dietrich spent a week there with plans of a trial at a later date when suddenly he got a break. His new found friend, Officer Beaux had convinced a small court that placing Dietrich in any other facility just wouldn't suit, not when the boy had gifts no one could explain about. Instead it was decided that he would attend the academy in Galway Bay under strict watch by the headmistresses and a locater bracelet to be worn at all times. But only if he agreed to stay out of trouble and attend school properly.

Dietrich jumped at the chance and so after taking an entrance exam, which he breezed through even though he had sat out several years of school, he was escorted by Beaux to the academy as the school's newest student. His first year was as an eighth grader who had a record with the police, though not as a thief as they couldn't prove he hadn't have been locked in the museum before finding him and Beaux did not write a report about the attack...since he had taken care of that on his own. Still, there was a record of the events that built up to his arrest.

Though no one actually knew that outside the headmistresses and several professors. Dietrich wasn't one to share his life's story so not many knew unless they hacked the computer system of the police station...which could happen. Mainly Dietrich took in the fact that he would have a stable home for a while and he had an entirely new world to venture through. Outside classes his entire first year was spent exploring his surroundings and locating each route in and out of the school.

His second year was used to explore his unique abilities and how he could make them stronger if not how he had got them. With his third year he couldn't get enough information and begun studying all possible powers outside his own just so he could understand them. If he didn't bother anyone when he first arrived at school his third year was being a pest and something of a stalker before he had gotten bored with himself. Now his fourth year he's settled with who he is and with the world he has found himself in, though he is open to all possibilities and can't wait for the new year.
