Naturally, the duo wanted to know if they had snagged their pursuer. And if they had, they could get a good shot in — a cheap shot, Aeolus thought reluctantly, but under these circumstances an important one. He was reaching for a button when he noticed their radar.

"Hey, it's clearing up!" he announced to Mischief. The Shadow Fox had noticed this much, opting not to comment, still running at a reduced speed.

Aeolus completed his action of pressing the button, switching to optical stealth and activating the special armor. Mischief's form sharply faded into the surroundings, betrayed by the sand he kicked up and by atmospheric disturbances. The Fox swiveled around and darted back to where their foe lay tangled. Although Mischief pushed himself to top speed, Aeolus noticed that they were not at said top speed, running just a little under 280KPM. He was quick to determine why.

"Mischief, you're running funny..."

The damage to the right side seemed to spread to the Fox's shoulder joint, yet Mischief still made no comment. The Shadow Fox quickly loped up to the Brastle to the best of his ability.

Knowing they couldn't waste any time, Aeolus took ahold of the controls as they came running at the Brastle, hoping it wouldn't untangle itself before they were done. This wasn't something they'd ever done before. Aeolus didn't know if he should expect to get himself shocked, or if he'd flat-out miss. His melee techniques weren't perfect. Striking at vital Zoid cables or tendons was still a difficult task for him...

The still-invisible Fox slowed considerably and began to charge up the Laser Strike Claws. He halted for the briefest of moments on the Brastle's left, Aeolus gripping the control to to Mischief's left claw. The pilot shoved forward. With the motion, Mischief swung his claw out at the joints on the Brastle's hind left leg in a sideswipe, aimed to disable at least that. The swipe cut a small portion of the net open. The Shadow Fox then proceeded to lope away and remove the optical stealth.

Aeolus glanced around at the visuals while they retreated (unknowingly toward Jessica again). He could have sworn he saw a massive explosion of gunfire in the area a moment ago, gunfire that had been Slax's work.

Sure, he could have aimed for the Brastle's head or something. Sure he could have attempted to totally destroy it or make it blow up or something. But Aeolus was a warrior, not a killer or a warrior. He had no idea that, quite possibly, their enemies were giving their lives in this strange, chaotic mission.

===

Turned on optical stealth, ran back at the Brastle stuck in the net, struck at its hind left leg with a strike laser claw (with hopes of hitting the joint).
Turned off optical stealth, running blindly toward Jessica.

Liger immediately ejected the useless armor on his back leg. He couldn't have it interfering with his movement during this next move. It was a very particular move he'd taught Tigersight for dealing with this situation. He blasted the boosters to full power and whipped the stabilizers open. One step to the left and he was close enough. While the damaged Descat was still recovering from his previous attack, he jumped. He spun left, swinging his tail around in sync. He had practiced the move a thousand times; his timing was perfect. He flew past the Descat in a blur. Nearly pressing his tail to the Descat's throat, he fired a single round from his tail cannon, right into the vulnerable spot. It CSF'd and the cockpit exploded. Luckily, Liger was out of range because he was moving so fast.

Perfect, Liger congratulated himself silently every time he pulled that one off. Now for the part he hadn't practiced quite so well. His momentum carried him a few meters before he touched down and dug his claws into the sand hard. The boosters were still firing, but he closed the stabilizers, still trying to save them from any damage. He came to a stop and was lunging forward again. The remaining Descat hadn't turned to follow him, instead turning its gun. It was already firing again. A shot landed squarely in each shoulder. More shots bounced off and blasted the ground around him.

He had to stop that Descat from firing any more. He stopped running, his momentum carrying him forward across the soft sand. He leveled his shock cannon and swung his tail around. Then, all at once he let loose a spray of fire from both. He shot about ten rounds all at once from each cannon, causing both to overheat temporarily. The rounds spread all around, leaving the Descat almost no way to dodge.

The pilot of the other zoid must have been overwhelmed by the attack. He didn't move and a few shots hit him. Since they were so spread out and poorly aimed, none of them did real damage. What they did was keep him from firing and distract him. That opened him up when Liger pounced. A swipe from his left claw cut the cannon off his foe's back. His other claw smashed into the side of the Descat's head. He was sent sprawling, off balance with the pilot unable to bring it back under control.

Liger stepped forward, shoving his enemy. The unbalanced cat fell on its side, trying to roll over to get back to its feet. Liger quickly stomped on its head. It wriggled under his foot, but he would not let it go. He waited just a moment to aim before biting into the the Descat's throat. It CSF'd.

Then, something happened that Liger had not seen coming. The cockpit under his paw exploded. It scorched the whole side of his body, charring his armor and almost completely melting his left claw. He was sent flying away by the blast. It was all he could do to pull his boosters in before he hit the ground and tumbled down a particularly steep dune. At the bottom, everything spun for a moment before his sensor caught up with him and brought the everything back into alignment.

"What the hell was that? I didn't do anything to make it explode! Ow!" he yelled to himself. He brought up a preliminary damage report while he waited for a full system evaluation. It came up, loaded... and started scrolling. "Oh, great," He grumbled, "well, now I know not to be anywhere near their cockpit when I finish them off." Rig the cockpit to explode, sounds like a good sneaky tactic to me. The full damage report came up, and he quickly scanned it for all of the major damage. Of course, it was almost all in his front left leg. He tried to move it, but the armor was crushed and would not move correctly. He tried ejecting them, but one was also locked in place. Normal options exhausted, he swung his tail around and shot the one piece a few times at the lowest power he could set on the cannon. The armor rattled around as he shot it over and over, until the locking mechanism broke, and he shot it off.

He turned the radar back on, hoping it had recovered some. It had, sort of. It was enough that he could tell there was no one behind him. He set off across the desert to help out the others who had been tricked into coming out here.

Out of all the people assembled, there was not a single solitary one who was assisting him in fighting this Gilvader. As he expected. Useless people down here, and it wasn't that they were worth killing, it ws that none of them were taking out the real threat to their lives. This Gilvader was the master of destruction on this desert battlefield and Tethis knew very well that it needed to fall, now.

...ugh, my head.

About damn time you woke up. Now get with the program!

Right as the female pilot of the Gilvader was reaching for her weapon triggers, the Storm Sworder burst into a blinding white light as the Organoid attached to its core actually fused - and now the battle was on. The one threat to the Gilvader was now armed to the teeth, fully twice as fast as it was before, and now ready to kick some giant dragon ass. After all, Tethis knew the limits; the metal would not snap under the strain of all the G-forces he would be exerting on it, because he could still pull tight 40 G turns and it was perfectly fine.

Despite that speed boost, Tethis cut thrust completely. And where did he go? Straight down - below all those shots, below all of it, and knew that it was the safest place for him... right as he kicked in the full stomach-churning acceleration power of the Organoid-fused Storm Sworder. It shot off like a silver blur, racing through the skies, and pulling itself upwards in a rapid one-eighty degree twist and inversion straight on intercept course for the Gilvader's left flank. Why?

To get right the hell in close, like he was doing, and dumb-fire all four of the remaining air-to-air missiles at extremely close proximity, where no air defence could save it -and then start tearing at it with talons, claws, and those pulse cannons again, right up against the giant steel thing's body. Close combat with a Storm Sworder against a Gilvader? You bet your ass.

Problem, Aereos?

None whatsoever. Tear this monstrous beast apart.

Helios roared, the bird of prey screeching loudly as a mechanical monster did. This would be glorious.

Her aim had been true, and once again Remorame found herself scrunching her eyes closed as the screen flared white, the brightness making it hard to make out the circular forms of the two crosshairs buzzing about on the screen.

Okay, that’s two down... But not as fast as I’d like...” as the screen once again reverted to a combination of everything between blue and orange, the red-head found herself frowning as she scanned the field. Now it was just a mix-match of zoidy shapes, the majority of which she couldn’t tell apart from friend or foe, mainly because there were so many freaking ligers dispersed amongst the Descats.

I’m not getting anything done like this!” biting her lip, she continued to try and think of what to do next, then one of the silliest thoughts she had ever come up with filtered through her brain. She pulled the large, gun-shaped controller back and down, giving her a bit of a cramp in the shoulder and zoomed the sniper scope out to the maximum distance.

Even with supersonic bullets, the chances of hitting a flying Zoid? Very low.

Chances of hitting a Gilvader? Even lower.

But still, that thing had to follow a predictable path in order to fire the gravity cannon again, during which it could not change course at all due to the sheer power of the weapon.

Wondering what could have possibly possessed her to try this, she sat, and waited.

((Hooray for posting nothing!))

”We’re finished.” The cloak of sand that covered the canopy felt like they were being blindfolded before an execution, which may very well have been the case. Obviously their last ditch attack with all of Obsidian’s guns was not enough to stop the Tiger; the IR scanner was showing significant heat buildup in the Zoid in front of them meaning the Brastle was charging up its thermic beams for another strike. Stuck as they were, it seemed inevitable that they were going to be deep fried in a pool of molten glass.

Dalen squinted as he felt the shockwave of a large blast, but to his surprise the sand was blown off the Heldigunner’s head and he was treated to the sight of the fiery remains of his adversary. ”There was no way we did that, right? Someone must have saved our hides.”

“That’s very interesting, why don’t we discuss it after we save MY TAIL!”

”Oh yeah, let’s see.” The lizard was already pulling as hard as she could, but it was difficult to get good traction in the soft sand. The end of her tail was being crushed to an oblivion within the gravity cannon shell’s radius; the best course of action would probably be to wait it out, but since she was so impatient, Dalen activated the boosters. At first, nothing happened, but then the high pitched squealing of metal being twisted and warped could be heard. A sudden lunge forward occurred after the sound a loud snap. ”Oops… my fault.” Apparently the weakened spot of the tail where the Brastle struck had torn leaving Obsidian with a stub, just behind the AA gun.

“You bet it is. This is the second time I’ve lost my tail since I joined you…” Obsidian continued to scold her pilot.

”Sorry.” Dalen said sheepishly as he eyed the area. Seemed like the heroes were finishing off the attackers, which was a good sign. In the skies an air battle raged, ”Is that a piece of a flying Zoid coming down towards us?”

The disguised Zabat bomb landed next to the Lizard, but fortunately did not detonate until it had penetrated the surface a few meters. The resulting explosion sent the above sand and the Zoid flying. “I blame you, pilot!”

Summary:
- Discovers Brastle is slag
- Breaks tail off by using boosters to escape gravity cannon
- Near miss by Tabaz's Zabat bomb sends Lizard flying

"ALRIGHT! IT'S TIME TO DO... THAT!!!!"

Tabaz, opened the cockpit, and pointed at the (now really fast) storm sworder.

"YOU THERE!! WE'LL COMBINE YOUR FLIGHT FRAME WITH MY STEALTH TYPE, THE CALL SIGN WILL BE-- HEY! DON'T START WITHOUT ME!!"

Tabaz, with his Zoid now above the Gilvader, quickly got back into the cockpit and closed the hatch. His Zoid flapped repeatedly, before beginning the descent.

"IF BULLETS ARE OF NO USE, WE SHALL USE THE GREAT SWORDS OF THE MIGHTY SWORDER!!! THE BLADE TO SMITE VILLAINS! THE KNIFE FUELLED BY WILLPOWER! THE SWORD THAT CLEAVES EVIL! MY NAME IS TABAZ, THE INVINCIBLE, AND I SHALL BE THE ONE TO DEFEAT YOU!!!!"

His Zoid plummeted down, following the Gilvader who was engaging the (real) storm sworder. As the Storm Sworder flew up, he flew down. Tabaz dropped all four mines, since they fell *slightly* faster than he did, the mines seemed to float in front of his Zoid. With a quick tap of the booster, Tabaz accelerated down, and caught up to his own mines. Luckily (or was it skilfully?) the mines did not explode right away, instead they got caught in the tinsel on his wings. Two mines per wing.

"TAKE THIS!! MEGA FUSION ATTACK OF THE DOUBLE SWORDS!!!"

He passed the Gilvader, totally missing it, as the other Storm Sworder engaged the massive airborne enemy. Yet something was amiss, his tinsel was gone. It fluttered down, mines and all, towards the Gilvader's wing. Should the parachuting mines be caught in the crossfire, there may have been some kind of carnage. But Tabaz was too busy yelling his face off to try and sort that out.

"FACE THE BLADE, OF THE STORM OF THE SKY, KNOWING THAT ALL WHO ARE HIT, ARE SURE TO DIE!!! NO MECHA MONSTER SHALL INVADE THIS WASTELAND WITHOUT TASTING THE IMPREGNABLE BLADE OF TABAZ, THE INVINCIBLE!!! THIS BLUE SKY SHALL BE FILLED WITH THE SEED OF CALAMITY FOR BUT ONE DAY, SUCH THAT THE TREE OF PEACE MAY GROW!!!!"

----------
tl;dr
Tabaz parachuted mines towards the Gilvader.
