Adrian looked out the window as the sun rose slowly above the harbor. He felt instantly at peace with the world and never wanted to tear his eyes away. He wondered what would happen today, who he might meet, and what he might do. He heard a faint noise behind him that brought him out of his trance. Adrian turned around and walked toward the bed. He grabbed his clothes and silently dressed. Before leaving he softly kissed the forehead of the woman sleeping next to him.

Later that day Adrian was sitting with his current employer in the tavern across from the inn. The two men have been discussing their time together.
"I don't understand. Is it the money? Am I not paying you enough?"
"No, no, Taven, it's nothing like that. You've been more than generous, and you've been such a good friend. It's just time for me to go..."
"Where will you go?"
"Oh, I think it's about time I went home to visit my father."
Taven looked at Adrien with a great deal of sympathy."Adrian why do you do this to yourself? You know he'll just end up hurting you again."
Adrian smiled a little and looked at the table."I know...but I must attempt to make peace with him. He's my only father, I love him and despite what he says, I know he still loves me."
Teven almost said something in protest, but the look in Adrian's eyes made him realize objection would be useless.
