kung feel nyo mag review ng kahit anong anime, post nyo lang dito. reactions are welcome. :P .
here's my little amateur review of samurai deeper kyo after watching more than a week and without cheating(looking it up in the internet)
Samurai Deeper Kyo is one of the 3 new anime shown on local tv. It replaced Ruruoni Kenshin, which was shown for the umpteenth time already. I was glad to see that Studio 23 finally moved on although the move wasn’t very far. SDK also featured a mild mannered clumsy man turning into a viscious killer who had a history of killing many many people, an annoying leading lady and historical Japan. I guessed the S23 people are still into that “Japan = samurai & geisha” concept of Japan. Also maybe they didn’t really want to unsettle their viewers too much so they showed something that people are familiar with. At first I was a little wary of SDK, it being too similar with RK at first glance. I was glad to see I was wrong. At first glance I didn’t really like the two main characters Kyoshiro and Yuuya being a lot like Kenshin who lets himself get bossed around by the annoying Kaoru. Both leading ladies are that type of character who tends to go hysterical, bossy and kunyari palaban pero helpless naman talaga. The meek clumsy man + bossy girl with a mean upper cut when her breasts are bumped looks cute at first pero many anime later nakakasawa na. lumang joke na kung baga. I was really glad when Kyo finally awakened and stayed, at least medyo natahimik si yuuya. The rest of the characters so far are okay. Early favorites are Yukihiro Sanada and Benitoro(la na bang ibang babae maliban kay yuuya, hah, Hidetada-sama?), and another potential favorite is the guy with kakashi-like mask and –coloured haired. Anyway its too early to judge the rest of the characters. I like Kyo better than Kyoshiro. I also hope too see more female character who can really kick-ass kasi bihira may magandang female character who can truly fight. At first I also thought it would be monster of the week vs. Kyo. Buti na lang it didn’t degenerate into that kasi ang boring naman nun. I love the conspiracies here and conspiracies there thing and I am still confuse as to the names of the certain group and who belongs to what since I didn’t want to cheat and research SDK over the internet. Parang and daming pangalang dapat tandaan. Gumaganda ang storya every day so dapat tutukan. Since this is a samurai anime, there has to fight scenes and so far they are disappointing. They are not breathtaking and they are too short. You don’t actually see technique vs. technique or detailed fighting ala Naruto. All you see is slash and the fight is all over. Sure Kyo is one heck of a demon pero ang boring naman kung alam mo nang talo agad ang kalaban. Hoping to see more action and not just scenes where nagyayabang ang kalaban tapos isang slash ni Kyo at tapos na. So far this anime is a 3 out of 5.

Full Metal Alchemist
Genre: Hybrid Science Fiction-Fantasy-Adventure
Episodes: 52 predicted, I've watched 43
Suggested Age: 13 and above, but I would suggest 16 and above.
Songs: 1st op-"Melissa" by Pornografitti. 1st ed-"Kesenai Tsumi" by Nana Kitade
2nd op-"Ready Steady Go" by L'arc-en-Ciel. 2nd ed-"Tobira no Mukou de" by Yellow Generation
3rd op-"Undo" by Cool Joke. 3rd Ed-"Motherland" by Crystal Kay
4th op-"Rewrite" by Asian Kung-fu Gen. 4th ed-(forgot title) by Sowelu
Synopsis: Looking beyond the concept and the misconceptions upon judgment of the title: This is not a sequel nor a prequel nor a spin-off of Full Metal Panic. It is something much greater. The title, "Full Metal Alchemist" is the title given to the main character of the story, Edward Elric, a 15-year old genius alchemist able to transmute objects without a circle. His talent alone is worthy of praise and his skills in kung-fu matched by his auto-mail (cybernetic parts). However looking at the far-seeing concept that overrides the world, The Law of Conservation in Alchemy, nothing is received for free, something must be returned, it is the rule of Equivalent Trade, Edward did not receive his skills for free, it is an accident he and his brother Alphonse Elric brought upon themselves when they tried to ressurrect their mother five years before the present using alchemy. The trade-off is his brother's body and Edward's limbs. Now, Ed and Al (his soul is encased in a sturdy steel armor) seek for the all-poweful Philosopher's Stone, the only object in reality that breaks the Law of Conservation of Alchemy. Their goal is only to retrieve their lost body parts and live a normal life. For in which case they joined the military to become a State Alchemist, fight the vengeful Scar, and face-off with the mysterious group, The Homonculous, only for them to complete their goal.
Concept/Plot (10/10): The plot alone is indeed deeper and different from past anime and contemporary anime. The entire plot revolves around Alchemy and the forbidden knowledge that encaptulates it. Indeed Alchemy draws a thin line between the arcane arts and scientific constructs. It may confuse the viewer to see it as pure science or as pure magic. The writer indeed makes alchemy much easier to grasp and teases the viewer with a confusing web of detail that will enable the viewer to get lost in the sea of controversy and conflict. The protagonists and antagonists are so well dispersed, and the conflict is multi-faceted that one detail or character missed would totally ruin the organic unity built from this genre. It is a work of a literary genius and a simple writer combined. The plot is relatively simple yet the conflicts that arises turn the series into a multi-faceted organism that enables the viewer to excersize their grey matter rather than fill it up with frills and junk food received usually from anime.
Visuals (8/10): The art is well done. The detail infused in the character designs and the architecture is sewed well. There is not much inconsistencies made for the designs and differ a little in the allocation of the seasons. While the first season presented a much darker and much rushed fashion, the second season was well drawn and presented a lighter phase, the third season is drawn in a more rushed fashion, and the end of the third season moving to the fourth season's art is matching up to the designs as first presented.
Audio (10/10): The foley of this masterpiece is indeed great. They used synched sounds as suitably matched for the situations. The scoring is also superb, they are able to use silence and suspence scoring in such a great synchronization that the plot and the revelations are presented well. The soundtrack differed and progressed well as the plot moved. "Melissa" and "Kesenai Tsumi" are fine starting songs for the season as "Melissa" presented a mellow and a fast-paced opening for the series while "Kesenai Tsumi"'s punk rock is well received to end the story well (indeed the theme is "Unerasable Sin"). "Ready Steady Go" geared in the fast-paced area of the plot where more mysteries are revealed, more enemies are presented, and the action just did not stop. "Tobira no Mukou De" shows the emotion and regret of the brothers. "Undo" presents the 3rd season in a more bleak aspect where the brothers' quest enters a turning point, where their regret is greatly focused on and their enemies become stronger. "Motherland" as a closing for the 3rd season presents the memories and sorrow that Winry, their childhood friend faces. Lastly "Rewrite" as the last song enters well as the brothers face the biggest turning point in the plot and tries to face the final falling action where they will resolve what is left. (By the way, Asian Kung-Fu Generation is the best rising j-punk rock bands out there ^_^)
Repeatability: (7/10) Although it has a masterful concept and an involving plot to drag you along, repeatability is its weak point. Although the revelations are fun to watch as it happens, the idea of repeating and watching it twice would be for nostalgia alone, since the series dwells on plot twists and plot turns. Yet it could be fun to forget the series and watch it again after a few years. Then it would be fun.
Overall: (9/10) This tour-de-force could only be enjoyed with your right brain intact and with your left brain open. Then you could experience one of the most intelligent and most thought provoking anime ever created. Do not confuse it with Full Metal Panic, because it is way different and way better than it. Its okay to bring your emotions too, because your intellect and will should get a alchemic reaction after watching. And be careful when using alchemy at home, do not ressurect dead pets and use alchemy on yourself ^_^ Have a nice day.

Anime Review: Katsuhiro Otomo's Memories
Director: Katsuhiro Otomo
Production: Bandai, Kodansha, Shochiku Films
Country of origin: Japan
Format: Film
Running time: 3 episode movie
Year: 1995
Memories is a collaboration between Koji Morimoto, Tensai Okamura, and Katsuhiro Otomo, and IMO is one very imaginative film. The movie combines three animated films from each director, to make a theatrical masterpiece.
The three stories are as follows:
1. Magnetic Rose- is about a space station that's been sending out an SOS, in the form of an opera song. Two rescuers discover that the station is a hologramic paradise, that's haunted by the image of an old opera singer named Eva.
This an excellent piece of animation that doesn't get bogged down in theatrics or loses it's storytelling. Magnetic Rose is, simply put, a science fiction marvel.
2. Stink Bomb- is about a man that works at a lab and has a very nasty cold. He's asked by one of his co-workers to try a new cold medicine from the boss' desk. He takes one, and falls asleep, only to wake up to his dead co-workers. He's contact by his superiors to bring the medicine to Tokyo, without knowledge that the government is planning to kill him.
The animation is above average, but compared to the other episodes of Memories, it's the weakest and less creative of the bunch. Still, it has a story not too different from that of Doctor Strangelove. If you like dark comedies, Stink Bomb is a good choice.
3. Cannon Fodder- is about a war crazy society, where everyone is devoted to defeating an "unknown" enemy. Cannons mounted on every building, "pro-war" posters scattered all around, it's like the 1930's all over again (Nazi rise, and WW1).
Overall, Memories is a must have for any anime collection. It may not have the elements of anime you usually expect to see, but it serves well as a creative collection of animation. In terms of being far-thinking, original and imaginative, Memories is by far one of the best animated films out there.

*Warning: this anime contains a lot scenes of nudity, mature sexual themes and a blood and gore (unang bahagi pa lang alam na! MEAT!!)
May isang "assassin" na patakas sa building. Marami siyang pinatay palabas pa lang compound, using an invisible force called "vector" (explained in later episodes).
Tapos bilgal siyang nagsalit...
"Nyu?"

MJ's Quickie Reviews
On: Ah! My Goddess TV
This anime needs no introduction so i'll dive right into the gist of it. Based on the same story as the OAV, the TV rendition is said to be the fleshed out version: more side stories, more focus on certain characters, more plot and character building (i hope). Dont expect to see alot of the storyline quickly as it is meticulously slow paced. So far i've got to watch 5 episodes and Urd hasnt even arrived yet.
Anyhoot, another thing you shouldnt expect is the nice art of Fujishima. The moment you see the opening sequence you know it wasnt him behind the brush (unless he started drawing with his feet). The art is not bad, but its different from the one we've grown to know (and love). The good part is that Inoue Kikuko continues to lends her wonderfully sweet voice for Belldandy (yey!)
Albeit the unfamiliar hand drawing this time around, the artwork is superb and the songs are really sweet. The OP has a Irish taste to it while the ED is country enough to do the square dance (still cute though).
People have been complaining that the OAV was way too short to get everything set up well (and not enough of Mara and Peorth and the other equality intriguing characters got any limelight) so this may be the chance. Hope it comes out well, AMG is still among my most favorite.

MJ's Quickie ReviewsOn:
Mahoraba - Heartful DaysCUTE is the first word that would come out of my mouth after seeing the first few episodes of Mahoraba. Personally, the characters (albeit slightly dysfuctional) are quite fresh and their odd "quirks" really pushes the comedy factor up.
A little intro: "Shiratori Ryuushi is a young artist-in-training, about to start studying at a vocational school. Arriving at his new lodgings, Narutaki Sou, he finds himself the focus of attention for the collection of weirdos that inhabit the place. He also meets and falls for the landlady, Aoba Kozue, who seems to be both lovely and charming. However, Kozue is not what she seems to be... in fact, she's more." (plot summary c/o
Anime News Network)
The artwork makes everybody look like middleschool children (yes, even the mom and the drunkard college student), its quite cute. Openning song gets a 3 stars on my iTunes. Flow of the story is still steady; so far they've outed 6 episodes.
Its a romantic comedy that's supposed to be light but i guess some would notice some of the hidden references to some serious problems among the characters and that makes it slightly hard to just take it in as "light".
Pero sa persception mo na lang yun cguro. I have yet to see an anime to challenge Ranma and Maison Ikkoku in the "number of weird misfits in one show" category, but Mahoraba (if its cast grows further) may be a good contender ^__^0

dammnit!! i'm bored... (>_<) been reading the reviews atop nearly covered everything id wanted to review here(great reviews btw^_^).. Kudos to MJ, nice reviews man.. i totally agree, been watchin those new animes as well^^ just wanna ad a bit to the AMG review, the art there is similar to the MOVIE and is still very Fujishima, if uve read the manga from vol1 to the recent vol 28 ull see how diff the art evolves, the primary volumes of AMG manga doesnt even compare to that of what the art of the oav is, ud think it was a diff artist. i guess the oav spawned at the near halfway mark so the art was better. the amg tv series ryt now is up to par with the "looks' and style of the manga. in the op sequence keiichi looks dif.. that's close to what he looks like currently in the manga. his hair is diff as to be expected from the start of the tv series coz he's only just met bedandy after awhile i hope his hairstyle follows suit the timeline. the series' first 4 eps followed the first chapters of the manga after ep 4 it started to jump chapters from the manga's storyline. bt i still hope this gets at least 3 seasons worth of animation coz itd be a pity if theyd cut much of the story for budget and squeezed out an unexpected ending for such a long running series on comic.

well then heres my bit:
for somethin from a generic genre/plot, girls with special powers etc.. my hime sets up a kinda "refreshing' take on the sed genre. storywise it's ok i guess .. altho having seen a lot of these types, i still enjoy the flow of it, i like the anime version of my hime more than the manga, storywise and artwise while the manga focuses on explaining the functions of the Himes and their "child" and "key". the story is just kinda in ur face. while the anime version has a bit more information withheld at the start slowly progressing and so entices thoughts of the viewer -which is a good thing in my opinion i hate watching no brainers. the action scenes are nice to watch as well the fight scene in ep1 was really enjoyable.. from what i can tell mostly of this show is that its good point is its "freshness", the crisp animation the different chars, comedic factor and the action thing, the music is good too. from the studio who made gundam seed or so ive heard, the character designs are quite similar. this anime also has a manga and radio drama to its credit.. true it may seem that this is made to be geared towards a more male oriented audience(case study different types of hs girls>.<) the story does point towards a kinda somethin for everybody: ya got mechs(well kinda most childs looks like mechs to a point) ya got ur romance, conflicts,a hint of drama, nice action/battles, comedy etc.. the different chars, personalities the way they interact with each other are what i think has brought about the good points to this series. but even for something seemingly generic i like it a lot that i'd get a disaponted if i cant get my weekly fix. i mean its not 'that' good but its enjoyable enuf for me.. and so my point is... its a good watch, much better than most new series for 2k4-2k5 and among the new series to date only a handfull are prolly worth watching and this would prolly be included in my top20 category. so go watch it!!! ..that's just a suggestion tho^^"

hmm just saw up to ep 24 of this anime.., and the unexpected hapnd, -the story gets better, now thinking back the overall pacing of this series is very good.. things get serious as the conflicts and relationships of the characters get reallly interesting(the battles get complicated), and i thought things were gna go anti climactic. oh well.., i'm really enjoying this series now so i guess this would go into my top10 category for this year. oh yeah, my review uptop might've given the thought of this series being a 'moe', scratch that out, this is a full fledged anime series that aint a hakusho or sailormoon weebees or anything in between the two u could categorize it at!! its not what yud expect or rather the mindset of what to expect if basing on categorial aspects of what is standard or what ur used to (that being either good or bad expectations) this really comes on its own 'style', and it doesnt disappoint. nicely crafted chracters girls and guys alike. my review maybe biased so am not gna put out scores for this, its just my thought atm, this series would prolly not be remembered as great(or at all) coz a lot of foundations of anime have already been laid hence we have category and standards to base by, true this was prolly based on most of the other works but having a lot of animes these days ull have a hard time picking out which ones are worth watching, watching till the last episode that is.

BEYOND THE CLOUDS/The Place Promised in Our Early Days description taken from
animenfo-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The story takes place in a "different world" of another postwar period, in 1996, where Japan was divided and ruled. A huge mysterious tower was built on Hokkaido.
The main character of the story are three 15 years old junior high school students: Sawatari Sayuri, Fujisawa Hiroki and Shirakawa Takuya. Because of her illness (memory disorder), Sayuri was transferred into another school in Tokyo. So, three of them part and walk their own path.
The year is 2001, and both of Hiroki and Takuya are college students now. They meet Sayuri again by chance in Tokyo. However, Sayuri has been sleeping for many years because of her illness. Hiroki and Takuya decided to solve the mystery of Sayuri’s illness which somehow connected to the mysterious tower.
Can they unravel the mystery of Sayuri illness? Can three of them stand on the one promised place made after school again?

my bit:
a mokoto shinkai movie, very much same as the feel of hoshi no koe, prolly not easy to pick up and enjoy by regular standards, still ths film is considered a masterpiece in its own right, the animation is beautifully rendered and there is something subtle to be said about the presentation, its just absolutely something out of the ordinary, its different from that 'ghibli' feel, if uve seen 'hoshi no koe' ud understand what i mean...

nice, a fellow HiME watcher ^__^ iv just gotten 23 and 24 so ndi pa ako updated. here's my take on the series...
I think what My HiME has going for it the best is its story (primarily the plot twists). as uv said it did use a pretty generic mix but at least they did it with alot of quality. animation is great, sounds are really good (i never skip the OP :)). The latest episodes have been getting and getting more intersting (and depressing) so for those intrigued by the series, hang-on through the first 15 eps or so, generic as they may be, because after the 1st story arc things get heated up ^____^

Genshiken / Kujibiki Unbalanceinfo taken @
anime-source Alternate Title: The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture / Unbalanced Drawing Straws
Studio: GENCO / Palm Studio
License: Media Blasters (R1)
Year: 2004
Length: 12 Episodes
Genre: Comedy
Synopsis:
So what does a closet anime/manga otaku do when he comes to the new school? He secretly checks out any societies involved with the 'industry'. As such, Sasahara Kanji finds himself drawn to Genshiken, an abbreviation for the Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture. Genshiken's name is pretty much a euphemism for an anime/manga club. Sasahara's 'co-ordinated' entry propels us into a look into Japanese otaku culture with the other interesting characters, otakus or not.
Kujibiki Unbalance is a fictional anime/manga in the Genshiken world. It is not a regular series in ours but is in theirs. It is 'created' as a 25 episode series in Genshiken but we would only see flits and snatches of it in the Genshiken anime.
Genshiken Opening Song: マイペース大王 / My Pace Daiou / One Who Really Takes His Time
Genshiken Ending Song: びいだま / Biidama / My Precious
Other Notes:
Genshiken is full of otaku slang and language as well as spoofs of Japanese anime/manga. The normal average joe would not know of them and will not likely know the full set up for the series. To get the full impact, it is advised to get a source with subtitles/pop up extras ( ala ADV's Excel Saga ) alerting and giving information on these trivia bits.
Full episodes 1, 21 & 25 of Kujibiki Unbalance will be on the Genshiken DVDs as a bonus but otherwise you will not know the story except by following the OP's singer's radio drama on the internet.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
my bit:
this somehow reminds me of 'otaku no video' only OnV is half documentary..
i really enjoy the comedy of this show, again another 'NFE(not for everyone) anime.. genshiken mainly focuses on the life of a group of college otakus in japan, it's somehow feels funny , anime watching anime(and on a diff note otaku* watching an otaku show) .. i enjoyed this show a lot(mainly bec it reminds me of the group im currently in, we often joke abt who looks and/or sounds/acts like who in genshiken :D ), too bad it only ran for 12 eps, around half of the manga story i guess. This got licensed and i couldnt find anymore scanlations for the manga(only got 2 volumes scanlated). but ive been lucky enuff to dl the last ep before they took it out completely. theres a repost torrent out tho for the whole series in one of the places i dl from. pm me and ill be glad to give ya the link. anyways as sed above on the description it is full of otaku slang and humor, a lot of references to stuff concerning gundam, moe, eroge, cosplay, and the whole etc of what a group of otakus talk abt. well the story is primarily taken from sasaharas awekening to the otaku world but... well the only factor to this that makes this have some kind of story would be the character kasukabe saki, a 'normal' kinda fashionst gal who hapnd to like a 'cool looking guy', only to find out that he's an otaku.. watch how she desperately tries to 'survive' her relationship with her boyfriend and 'try to fit in ' with Genshiken.

Anime Review: Appleseed 2004
Directed By: Shinji Aramaki (Bubblegum Crisis)
Based On: Appleseed Manga by Masamune Shirow
Studio: Genon Entertainment
Genre: Cyberpunk, Mecha
Running Time: 108 Minutes
Review By: ~ Omni X ~
Background:The 2004 version of Appleseed was a rework of an earlier animated feature based on Masamune Shirow's
Appleseed manga.
Story:In 2131, most of humanity has withdrawn to the glittering city of Olympus after a devastating war. When
Deunan Knute, a mercenary/revolutionary rebel of sorts, is taken back to Olympus by E.S.W.A.T., she encounters her former comrade
Briareos, now a cyborg, and the lovely bioroid Hitomi.
Olympus, rose from the ashes of a global war on the backs of Bioroids, artificial clones who make up half the city's population. Under the strict guidance of a supercomputer, humanity's last survivors enjoy an idyllic peace, but only on the surface Human terrorists within the military seek a return to power and clash with the government's
ESWAT forces.
The fate of Hitomi, Olympus, Humans and Bioroids alike, rest on the lost "Appleseed" technology that Deunan's mother helped to develop.
Omni X Says:This is one anime that is waaaaaaay up there in my
'Number 1's list'. It's a superb combination of CG rendered mechs, and backgrounds, and cel shading for the characters.
The story itself is a little thin, but holds enough water to help you along, without confusing you. It's all action and is the complete opposite of it's anime sibling; Ghost In The Shell: Innocence. Appleseed 2004 boasts of more gunfights, mecha battles, compared to the relatively confusing philisophical doo-dah of GITS: Innocence. I love the GITS franchise mind you, but Innocence is like watching Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions all over again.
The new 3-d Cel Shading that it used was very nice, although I had some nitpicks about it (later into the review). The CG Rendered city of
Olympus was simply stunning! It can easily compare to the best Hollywood CG Backgrounds made.
Appleseed is definitely up there with other exciting anime features like Vampire Hunter D, Ghost In The Shell, Jin Roh.
Omni X Calls The Bad:There is one nitpick that I can't get get over with. The Cel Shading for the characters was very well done, however, the problem with it was, it doesn't meld well into the CG Rendered backgrounds, at least for half of the movie. Compared to GITS: Innocence (which used 2D animation over CG rendered backgrounds), the cel shaded characters on Appleseed was good, but was somewhat amateurish.
It's a good thing the blending got better and better into the movie.
How It Fared:In spite of the bad cel shaded animation in the first 20-30 minutes of the movie, Appleseed 2004 is defintely a very good watch, and I'd recommend it to any anime fan who loves cyberpunk and mecha action.
The plot of the story was a little thin, but the
final mecha battle more than makes up for whatever eye candy you may be looking for.
Overall, Appleseed gets a 9/10.
I definitely recommend it.

This doll happens to be "Shinku", the fifth doll of the so-called Rozen Maiden, and in winding her (with a few technicalities afterward), has forced him to become her Medium and servant!

Ending Song: 透明シェルター / Toumei Shelter / Transparent Shelter

my bit:
well the first ep doesnt say much save for good animation, after awhile it gets better, in 3 eps i got hooked, line bait and sinker, its one of those 'new stuff' or new presentation, basta its something new, it has a 'non generic feel' to it(may not be the concept but the presentation feels new). it really gets cute when the doll 'hina ichigo' was introduced. and the way the dolls interact with one another is really enjoyable to watch. the music is nice too, i like both the op and ed songs the bgms were also in tune to the mood.
for a 'cursed dolls' show it really was interesting.. something i wouldn't mind to watch a few replays, if i had time. it mightve been just the chars that got to me, i love hina ichigos cuteness, her seiyuu is perfect, also the naivety of the serious-determined shinku, and the evil twitching personality of suiseiseki, these 3 dolls are ehh.. just watch the show, it has a dark feel to it but also some comedic factors and lessons to be learned.. overeall i liked it!... now then, "swear upon this rosa mystica..."

SAMURAI CHAMPLOO----------------------------------------------------------------
Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy
Synopsis:
In the language of Okinawa, "champloo" means to mix things together. And that is what we have here, two insanely powerful samurai named Mugen and Jin. Mugen has the nose and instincts of a wild animal, as well as a rough and wild fighting style that's as powerful as it is uniquely his own. Jin's a bit more refined. The master swordman trained under a legendary warrior rumored to have never lost a fight, and people say he's even more powerful than his master.
Wild-man Mugen and the cool and composed Jin seem like oil and water. Still, they end up traveling together after their paths cross by chance. But these two are far from friends. The only thing tying them together is the mysterious man that a young woman named Fuu is searching for. Their jouney is a modern road trip through the lens of a bygone era-a historical drama that shatters the classic conventions of the genre.

hmm.. dont think i need to add anything more than what the synopsis covered, this just got completed and so the reviewing is in order, well my bit then...
having watched the first ep of this anime ull know right away that this is gna be a hit series, not ur average samurai anime. the 2nd ep tho, suddenly seemed to lack the hype built by the first ep, as the story suddenly became serious, still after a few more eps ull begin to get used to that stroytelling/plotmovement as it goes from slap stick sillyness to serious fighting and some sad sad moments.. which imo was good to have in this particular series. what i liked about this is that it defies what to expect, i mean i didn't know what will hapn next or couldnt predict what kind of trouvbles theyd have on the road ahead to finding that flower samurai. all the anime tells u is that they travel in search of the sed samurai and thats all.. a few clues here and there but nothing solid enuff to make "it" be the point or plot of the story, ud forget all abt their search as that isnt the main thing of interest in this series. the clues they get serves kinda like a reminder to the viewers that they ARE looking for the flower samurai, just in case ud forgotten and think/ask, "what are they doin tourin all over japan for again?" (then the clue) "doh.. oh yeah.. lookiin for that samurai guy wit tha perfume.."
:confuse: nyways, watch Fuu and his two bodyguards and learn the secret technique to keeping a healthy diet and losing tons of fat in an instant!! thas' all.. *jiwweeejiweejin..*

Anime Review: Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig
Directed By: Kenji Kamiya
Based On: Kokaku Kidoutai Manga by Masamune Shirow
Music: Yoko Kanno
Studio: Production I.G.
Genre: Sci-Fi, Mecha, Military
Running Time: Series/Approx 25 minutes/Episode (26 Episodes)
Review By: ~ Omni X ~
Background:Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig is the follow up to the successful Ghost In the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series of 2004. It's based on the manga by Masamune Shirow, of the same title.
**Plot Summary:In the future, life between the digital and physical world has been blurred. The boundary of technology and humanity has been stretched beyond imagination with lives being led in both the electronic and physical worlds. With the melding of man and machine – a new cybernetic level of existence is being created - An existence that continues to redefine mankind.
**Source: AnimeNfo.Com**
Story:Picking up from the Laughing Man incident, and the consipiracy that almost put an end to Section 9, Major Motoko Kusanagi, Batou, Daisuke Aramaki, and the rest of the team, get back on track and re-establish Section 9.
They are faced with a new kind of threat that conspires to put an end to the Government of Japan itself and plunge it into economical and political darkness.
Omni X Says:Again, I am very impressed with this series. The original SAC was full of intrigues and plot twists and has really set the bar high. This follow up doesn't lag too far behind at all. Like it's predecessor, the animation is very well done, and the CG rendered elements mix well with the 2D designs like hand to glove.
The story is very fast paced, and each episode, including the stand alone or
filler episodes, adds spice to the volatile elements within the story that make it more exciting as it progresses.
GITS: SAC 2nd Gig also gives us a little background on some of the Section 9 members like Pazu, Boma, and Saito.
The OST for this series is also a killer, with Yoko Kanno at the helm. The series intro
'Rise' has quickly become one of my favorite non-Macross songs. The end theme was really trippy.
The DVD Boxed set includes the
Animax: Kokaku Kidoutai Bios. This is similar to the
'Tachikoma No Hibi' shorts from the original series. This time though, the producers chose to put live female models to talk about different points about the world of Ghost In The Shell.
Kawai, but minus the humor of the Tachikoma No Hibi short.
Calling The Bad:While GITS: SAC and GITS: SAC 2Gig were written very well, I can't help but frown at the
philosophical babble that goes on every other episode. I admit that there's a very decent balance of action and dialogue, but sometimes, the often confusing and dragging philisohy lessons make me want to press the FWD key on my remote.
There are also some animation inconsistencies on a couple of episodes, but it's really a minor nitpick on my end.
How It Fares:Overall, Ghost In the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig is an excellent series, trully worthy of the name (unlike that POS movie from 1995).
The animation is top notch, even if there are very minor inconsistencies. The complexities that it presents, as well as the intrigue and action is definitely one of the best.., if you can get over the Philisophy lessons that is.
Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig gets a 9/10.

anime-source---------
its a story about the band called beck or mongolian chop squad(MCS) which is their international band name. yeah, these guys go international. pretty far fetched and highly unlikely but thats the story and the story is good too, the manga was really addicting artwise its a little different than what im used to(the character renditions in the anime were a little better) but for me the art matches the story. if only the music could be that good as descrbed in the manga. the anime faired.. well.. ok i guess in a sense, if ya could stand the bad and i mean REAALLYY BADD ENGRISH used by the seiyuu. the songs they played kinda.. sucked at first too(they were playin a lot of engrish songs)..also the voice of koyuki was described in the manga as being really 'unique'. twas a bit of a let down as he sounds.. well ok.. but nothin special.. after awhile watchin the anime ud get used to their songs, the bad engrish.. but soon enuff i grew into liking the songs myself, dloaded the music osts of it.. even had me singin "fullmoonswways.." which was nicely sung by sowelu as the 2nd ed theme(the song 'slip out' wasnt half bad either). well i guess ud only watch the anime if ur into the beck manga. first impression of the anime for me was really bad as it was hard to stomach the engrish and some of the songs which didnt hold much meaning as what the manga described as deep. beck as an anime was enjoyable to me in the end.. specially in the part where they performed at the big stage.. however it seems that would be the end of the anime, the manga went far, far beyond that "greatful sound event'.. beck is a great read.. and a good watch if ur a hardcore beckhead like me!! :D i only hope it made an impact as well in japan, enuff so that a second season or oav/movie to follow willl be made.
-----------
just saw ep 26, 'last dinosaur' by the pillows(music from furi kuri) was playin.. weird.. it wasnt included in any of becks osts..

Anime Review: Azumanga Daioh
Created By: Kiyohiko Azuma
Based On: Electric Shock Daioh Manga
Studio: J.C. Staff
Genre: Comedy, Schoolgirls
Running Time: Original 130 Eps. (130 X 5 mis each) / Compressed 26 Eps. (approx 25 minutes each)
Review By: ~ Omni X ~
Background:Azumanga Daioh is originally serialized in a very popular "Electric Shock Daio" manga. The anime is based on a four panel comic, each episode is rather short around five minutes each. Each episode was compressed into a total of 26 episodes, with approximately 4-5 normal episodes in each compressed ep.
Story:The story revolves around the life high school girls. Each of the main characters have colorful and attractive personalities, such as a gifted 10 year old (Chiyo) highschool girl, cool highschool girl (Sakaki), natural highschool girl (Tomo), highschool girl with glasses (Yomi), new highschool girl on the block (Osaka), and weird older teachers (Yukari, Nyamo, Kimura) .
Omni X Says:Well, what can I say? Azumanga Daioh is definitely one of the most unique anime that I have ever watched.
The entire series is more of character driven than having the usual plotline. The story revolves around the daily school (and sometimes home) life of 6 girls. Chiyo the child prodigy, Tomo, the motormouth, Yomi, the typical smart girl, Sakaki, the silent buy popular and athletic girl, Osaka, the spaced out 'thinker," and Kaguro, the all around athlete.
There are no super powers, no spaceships, no giant robots, or talking animals.., 'cept maybe for Chiyo's 'Dad.' It's just your basic day at their highschool, and whatever activities they have, like their sports festivals, summer festivals, and summer vacation.
Hey, that may sound like it's a drag, and absolutely boring, but I'll let you know right now, it's as fun as fun can get. Azu has it's own complexities, but the element of humorous situations (like Osaka's often out of the blue 'intelligent' comments, or Chiyo's naivete...) definitely make those complexities work for the better. The characters are very unique and very 'real' in the sense that you definitely had at least one classmate like [Chiyo, Tomo, Osaka, Sakaki, Kaguro, and Yomi] when you were in highschool.
The artwork is very basic. No CG rendered backgrounds, no cel shading. Just good 'ol fashioned manual labor.
Calling The Bad:Well, I can't really say anything bad about it. It's not a technically complicated anime, and the artwork and story compliments it well.
All I can say is, it was disappontingly short. It has a lot of good elements, unfortunately it was cut short at thei girls' graduation.
How It Fares:I've heard a lot about Azumanga Daioh, and was initially skeptical about getting an anime (DVD boxed set none-the-less) about highschool girls, but after taking a risk, and getting the set, I can very well say that I was happy I bought it.
The series, although short and simplisitic (sometimes complex, thanks to Osaka), delivers the laughter and tears (yes yes... I was teary eyed when they graduated).
For a short series, Azumaga Daioh gets a 9/10 from me.
I definitely recommend it, and hey, even my girlfriend loved it. It has to be good.

this is my review of the series My/Mai HiME (so far)
HiME = Highly advanced Materializing Equipment
the story is not that impressive at first but the fight scenes were so cool. then, until the end of the 13th episode the real plot was revealed (well almost), i'd suggest that you watched the 14th up to the last episode straight coz that's where the story becomes much more intresting. the animation was admirable but what i love about this series are the twist and turns. (the only thing that i'm worried about is, how will it end? it has only 26 episodes and i've watched ep 24 but still i don't know where the climax of the series yet T-T). guess i just have wait until the 26th ep. (hmm. i wonder what happened if sister yukariko dearly loved god) -_-"

WINDARIA(1986)---------------description from:
animenfo-------
Two pairs of young lovers become embroiled in a war between two rival kingdoms, the primitive but resplendent Isa and the militaristic but undisciplined Paro. Izu and his young wife, Marin , are simple farmers who live in the unassuming village of Saki, which lies directly between Isa and Paro. While Saki does not have the beauty of Isa nor the war machines of Paro, they do possess a magnificent tree known as "Windaria," to which the villagers give their prayers in return for "good memories." When the war erupts, Izu decides to join Paro's army, enthralled by the fantastic motorbike "given" to him as a bribe. Before he departs, they each take a vow: He will definitely return to her, and until he does, she will wait for him. The other two lovers are Jill, the prince of Paro, and Ahanas, Princess of Isa. They initially want nothing to do with the rapidly escalating conflict, but after Jill's father, Paro's king, dies by his son's hand in an altercation over the war, Jill has little choice but to realize his father's final wish: the taking of Isa. The only problem is that he had promised his beloved, Ahanas, that he would not become involved. Windaria is a war parable set in a fantasy land of unicorns and ghost ships.

ma' bit:
ok,, i dun usually review old anime -not that i dun like classics(i love em btw!), coz search around, ud prolly find a thousand reviews of a series or movie in the net so i preffer the new stuff, the yet to be overly crticized shows.. but this is WINDARIA.. its not just old, its really old, pero not in the 60's or 70' gen, ryt around80's the time of gundam and macross.. so ud prolly have to set ur thoughts to the 80's waves to be able to appreciate this, cept for those who saw this great anime on its time, its definitely one of the best.. un mga tipong trend setter.. only reason stories become generic is coz the story/concept has been told a long tym ago, this is an original so dont dis it if u think its corny k' kids?
the animation of this film is superb!(for its year, nung mid 80's asteeg na yun animation na ganto) also this was shown on tv ch13 yta.. pero as we watched it recently, prng andami na hinde namin nakita o naalala sa dati na pinalabas sa tv, the reason, prolly censorship. panahon ng martial law ksi nuon.. its like we watched a new movie when we saw it again.. saw it in its entirety that is(in a complete dvd rip). we finally understood some aspects of the story we never knew before(in our young minds, but it made an impact enuff that it etched itself into our memory so we still remember the story or at least parts of it). in short if uve seen this movie before or slightly remember it ud prolly like it.. this is definitely one of the rare kinds.. tho were fortunate enuff to come across a subtitled version, coz the one on tv before was dubd in english -and yes has a lot of cuts to go with it.
overall, this is a great anime if u love the classics, a good-great anime if u havent seen it yet(only if u have an open mind and can appreciate such work)

REVIEW UPDATES
on: Mai HiME
Status: Completed
After 26 episodes (half of which had me clinging on the edge of my seat every episode), the festival of HiMEs finally over. Now that its done, i'll append a bit to what I've written earlier...
The build up of Mai HiME storyline is very good making it still this show's best point. Almost in an NGE kind of way, the mood shifts from comedic to drama and depression, really good for those in search of dynamic plots. I will not spoil the fun by commenting about the ending at this time ^_^ Pero grabe... (un lang masasabi ko)
New recommendation: YOU REALLY MUST WATCH THIS!:D

review:
ichigo100% OAVif ur not familiar with ichigo100% go read the manga which can be found here:
anime-source or here:
animewaves. mahirap nang magbigay ng synopsis as this can easily be dismissed as an ecchi ladden comedy(well it is actually heheh) fine i'll give one anyway, its abt a guy named manaka junpei, right before graduating from middleschool he hapned to see a girl drop down from the sky.. and he then he sees.. strawberies! that's right 100% cotton strawberies and hence the title ichigo100%..a lot more stuff hapnd but... enuff abt that, on to the review!!
ok, so.. the OAV really surprised me, i thought they were gna do an omake or a different story than that of the manga but instead they took out a story from around vol8 i think which was a good way to introduce u to the characters as they are almost complete at that part of the story.. nyways, if u havent read the manga yet ud prolly wonder what was going on, ull think this is just some fanservice ladden anime(well again it is) but there is a story here, perhaps the tv series(whc just started recently btw) will prolly give a better introduction than this oav but if ur a fan of the manga, ud be glad to see how they converted the manga to an anime in this oav, a lot of us were relieved to see that everything which makes up the ichigo100% manga was intact, i mean unlike the love hina manga-anime convertion, where ull see how a lot of screen angles were carefully placed at first to avoid showing a little too much of 'something' this convertion was the closest to THE or A manga ive ever seen. the first few seconds of the oav i sed 'woah' no doubt, this IS ichigo100%!!!!!!
this anime is definitely goin to my top 10 list for this year coz it didnt disappoint, to the fans this oav is everything weve hoped for, the character seiyus are close to what ud think theyd sound like according to their characters characteristics. very nice.. however if u havent heard of ichigo yet, ud best read a few chapters of the manga(up to vol14 as of today) in order to understand the situation on the oav, but then again who wouldnt be interested to know more if uve SEEN the oav... *ahem*to quote shigure of furuba: "highschool girls highschool girls...^^ ..." *ehrm* that wasnt me... that was the dog..
gna have a review of the tv series soon but as ive only seen ep1 of the tv it might take awhile....
