Before Farscape, Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars and even Star Trek there was the show that launched modern Sci-Fi and bought it into the mainstream. In 1963 Doctor Who was first broadcast, the first doctor was William Hartnell: (the man in the middle)

user posted image

he got older and eventually, in 1966 he was regenerated into Patrick Troughton:

user posted image

who eventually turned into John Pertwee:

user posted image

who then regenerated into the most famous Doctor, Tom Baker:

user posted image

tom baker lasted the longest, 7 whole years! before being regenerated into Peter Davison: (who dressed like a cricketer >< )

user posted image

phew. he then turned into the multicolored Colin Baker:

user posted image

he lasted between 2 years before the 7th doctor, Sylvester McCoy, took the helm:

user posted image

he was the last doctor, after him the series got cancelled..........until 1996 when Paul Mcgann became the new Doctor in the american made TV movie:

but that was never picked up as a series (sadly) then in 2005 Christopher Eccleston became the 9th Doctor:

*deep breathe*
The Doctor is a time lord from the planet Gallifrey, Time lords travel through time and keep it all flowing nicely. The Doctor has 13 lives before he dies for good, so far he's used up 9 of those lives. in the christmas special (that begins filming in the summer) the 9th Doctor will be killed and regenerate into the tenth incarnation of The Doctor.

The Doctor has a craft called the Tardis (Time And Relative Dimension In Space) this is the Tardis:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/gallery/teaser/800/05.jpg

the Tardis can travel to any point in time and space.

What happened to the companienes of the Doctor?
Where is Rommana and that savage chick and many others for that matter.

Here in australia we are going through the whole tv series. Though I have only really started to watch it once he became Tom Baker.

On Saturday I saw the first episode for the new series of Doctor Who and I have to say this I was dissapointed. I think I know the reason why I had this great expectation nothing I think was goignto fufill it. I felt the Doctor was not as smart as he was as Tom Baker and I flet the story was to much about Rose ( Or whatever her name was). This was the fiorst episode I'm sure the Doc could not show his true geniuose yet ( I mean he is no Earth) and that the story wont be so mucha about Rose.

Having all this said I ave to say that the new series is fricken awesome. It has all the charm of the old series and the actor for the Doc is very good. Favourite scene"

Rose's Mum: " There is a strange man in my bedroom"
Doc: " Yes"
Rose's Mum: Your a man and I'm a women"
Doc: " Yes"
Rose's Mum: " Anything could happen"
Doc: " No"

I recomend to everyone that they watch the new Doctor Who series it is a not to be missed.

The Doctoer have you seen any of the previouse Doctor Who series?

lol! awesome scene! Nod.gif

the first episode is probably the worst one of the series. it gets better, the next episode is rather cool, and the episode after that was filmed about 5 minutes away from where i live now happy.gif

episodes 4 & 5 are the first two parters of the new series, those are ok (watch out for the farting alien invaders *sigh*) Dalek is awesome, the episode is really dark. the 7th episode is good JUST because it has simon pegg in (shaun of the dead) the 8th episode is about Rose's family again, its pretty cool though. we've just got up to episode 9, the second two parter of the series. its set during WW2 and it kicks MAJOR ass!

i can just remember Tom Baker, i was raised on Sylvester McCoy and the awesome Paul McGann (he's my fave doctor so far)

David Tennant is the next one and i can't wait for the christmas special later this year, it'll be the first adventur with the new doctor happy.gif

Well my advice to you is to go and try to find some of his videos or dvds, cause i've been watching Doctor Who since I was a kid, and he is definetly the best, the little eccentricities that he has (Jellybabies, the habit of staring off into space and getting easily distracted, and his way of dealing with enemies), the companions he kept (Sarah Jane Smith, Leela, two Rommana's, K9) as well as the stories that got told (Pyramids Of Mars, The Talons Of Wang Chiang, Destiny Of The Daleks to name a few) all combined to create a unique experience that you'll never forget. So go out there and get them. Apart from him the other really good doctors were John Pertwee, who saw the introduction of both the Autons and The Master. Paul McGann was also pretty good as well, but William Hartnell was just stuck up, and I couldn't watch Peter Davison with out thinking of him as Tristen from All Creatures Great And Small.

Is there something wrong with being on Doctor Who these days or something. It appears that during series 2 that Rose is leaving as well. I have unconnfirmed reports it will be around episode 3. I wonder who they are going to have as his new sidekick.

Paul Mcgann, when he's dressed like that, reminds me of Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. mellow.gif

Was there supposed to be 13 Doctors from the beginning, or did they just... Decide that?

originally the show was meant to run for six weeks, when it became very popular they extended its run, sadly the first doctor began to suffer from alzheimers disease so, rather than kill the show, they developed the 13 regeneration story.

the press coverage for the new Doctor Who series has been huge over here, is it airing in mainland europe?

it didn't get picked up by the american Sci-Fi channel because they said it was 'somewhat lacking' but they need to remember that it doesn't have the huge budget of american sci fi. plus the only episode they got to see was 'rose' which was by far the weakest episode of the series.

the last episode airs on saturday, its getting massive press coverage over here........which is good. plus the last episode has a war in. and wars are good....on TV.

Nope, not in Dutchieland as far as i'm aware... Maybe they're waiting until the series are cheaper to broadcast over here, or the media dudars just don't want anything British on here except the lame humour shows that aren't funny sleep.gif.

Guess what I missied half of last weeks episode sad.gif I was invited to a party ( which I was the only one who turned up dry.gif ) I guess I'm gonna have to go buy the seiries happy.gif

The Big Bad Wolf is everyhere through time and space.

But in the old series with Tom Baker and some sidecick called Adrick we have just seen The Master biggrin.gif and he has taken over the body of this dude and made his Tardis just like the Doctor's.
