start with Guards! Guards! or Small Gods; they're probably the best jumping-in points. And yes, Pratchett is amazing.

Terry Pratchett is awesome. I really couldn't say which one is the best to start with but I generally find that the ones involving the watch or Death are the better ones.

So, the above suggestions are a good bet.

i agree with all said here.

Pratchett books are ace, but the best ones by far are the ones with Death, he is hilarious, and i even found him funny in the tv adaptation of Hogfather. Death pwns everything...

i havent read many

Colour of Magic
Mort
Soulmusic
Theif of Time

actually, i think thats it, how sad...3 of them have death in..lol

The humour is very surreal... It grows on you. You begin to see the small jokes he slips in.

The amount of times I've chuckled at a Pratchett joke and somebody has asked "what's so funny?" and upon my telling them add "I don't get it"...

Soul Music is one of my favorites. Think I've read it 3 times.

I find it annoying though after I read each one I usually forget what happens in them. Probably because largely the same characters are used in all the books and it's hard to remember what happened in which book.

I've started reading the Witches ones. I never thougth they'd be any good but they're alright actually. Quite chuckleworthy.

I was really big on the Vimes books too, they were packed with giggles.

I've already read half of Soul Music when I'm sitting in the back of the plane and Belmat I know what you're on about! I keep bursting out laughing and my colleague will ask what is so funny and when I tell them they don't seem to get it. Weird!
