My Side RP ideas

I have a few ideas that I want to throw into the water to see if anyone likes them or wants to send them back to the hells they spawned from.

The first is a new comedy roleplay. I gained the inspiration for it from NUFAN that was on the previous board. Throughout that feudal age based rp, we kept dancing around the fourth wall. So why not break it completely. At the start of the roleplay, the setting is the modern world as it is today. As such, we would be playing our characters as if they were actors/actresses who performed their roles in the FF Series. Basically, they were the models and (in some cases) voice actors. I think this would allow for a lot of freedom with roleplaying.

Obviously, we'll need a main plot so that people don't become bored with no direction. This is the inane plot for my idea. Our main 'villian' believes he/she is on the verge of a great discovery, magic and its practical uses. He/she is ridiculed as a nut job but eventually succeeds in this task and discovers the secret to real magic. He/she then decides to randomly take over the world. Meanwhile, our characters are trying to make ends meet now that we're unemployed hacks. For some strange reason congress thinks that actor/actresses familiar with magical worlds and scenarios (Insert various puns, parodies, and knock-off characters here) can stop the evil psychopath. Now it’s up to the unlikely band of people (who have no clue what...erm...mind-altering substances...congress was using) to save the world for real. I haven't hammered out the details yet and a part of me does feel like I borrowed too much from Kain. Regardless, that's my first idea.

Another idea of mine adds to the tournament that kinda flopped on the old board, instead of making a purely battle based tourney, why not a whole Olympic-esc event. All the competitors would compete in various events and be awarded points based on the roleplaying of task. The tasks would vary between each event (i.e.: Event one: A foot race between FF locations, Event two: a survivor type game, etc). The roleplayer with the most points at the end wins the whole thing. We would have three judges to handle point distribution as well as insert roadblocks to prevent anyone from just completing an event in 1st place with only one post. Again, I haven’t worked out all the bugs in such an undertaking and I hope any of you still reading don't have your lighters ready just yet.

Well, you already know what I think of the first idea (in case the others are wondering, I like it). As far as the second idea goes, it sounds quite interesting.

Maybe one of these days I should actually CREATE my ideas instead of keeping them in "planning" stages.

Anyway, for now, I'm adding a third to my list of rps I should stop sitting on.

Dreamscape - A series of unexplained comas have spread across the Final Fantasy Worlds. The victims seem completely healthy aside from the inability to wake up. The disease does not discriminate against who it infects and even the most advanced worlds are having difficulty diagnosing it. Unknown to all except those in a coma, a massive world exists. A world not unlike their own, filled with magic, technology, monsters and the surreal. This is the Dreamscape, where your desires and nightmares become your reality.

Okay, now that I'm done with the dramatics, I'll explain it in more detail. All of the participants will fall under the mysterious coma. Whether its instantaneous (i.e. collapsing while awake) or not (i.e. asleep dreaming normally then suddenly pulled into the dreamscape) I plan to leave to the roleplayers. The main purpose is to discover the meaning behind the comas. The main reason I made it a shared dream is to prevent God Modding. I'm working on the premise that if one person decided to spontaneously destroy the world and another didn't wish that, then a compromise of the extremes would happen. A part of the world would be destroyed but not the whole thing. Now take that theory and multiply it by about a thousand people. Most people are not that extreme. You can't be an almighty god because there are too many people believing you're just an ordinary person.

I have a rough idea on how the world would look but (like everything else I plan) it isn't finished. Also, I'm not quite sure how to incorporate already dead characters (Aeris for example) into the plot.

Yuffie, I would fully support this side rp and would participate in it in FULL.

Because Thomas is basically a major power resident OF whatever sub-consious dream world there is. And that would INCLUDE this "Dreamscape".

Well I think these are all good ideas! I especially like that olympic one because I'd think it'd be funny to see how people tried to "cheat" IC (if that'd be allowed anyways lol with or without it still sounds fun though). As for the dreamscape one, watch out for Andy girl, she will force you into allowing her to be your cartographer This all sounds good though.

For how to involve dead characters, well there isn't really a set time for when the comas happen is there? Maybe they just suddenly happen throughout all of time so people in the present get them and then say people in the past get them too. So say then Aeris gets a coma while wandering around the worldmap on her way to Junon with Cloud and Barret and then after the whole entire thing's over she can miraculously wake up and proceed on her merry little way and it'd be like one of the never mentioned adventures of the game or something. Of course unless everyone thinks I'm talking sacrilege here...

I like both ideas, especially the first one. It'd be a more light-hearted rping than the hit bloody death drama love story rps. Yay.

Hm, Yuffie, your ideas are great, specially the dreamscape one... In fact it has more potential than it looks like... If we can somehow include some deeper phylosophical and psycological matters in the plot it could turn into a great RP. I was once the Game Master of a Mage: the Ascension chronicle that dealt with similar principles and theories... Can you PM or IM me at MSN or AIM so we can discuss the ideas better? I'm still considering ditching the one that I have (ElfHunt) in favour of a new one. And after reading this topic again, I remember how much I like comedy RPs. So maybe I could set one of those up...

Yeah, a comedy RP could be fun.

I've an idea as well, for sort of an "in-between" RP for people who aren't in the current one. The premise is that FF characters have been kidnapped from their homes to serve as mercenaries under dukes who are fighting it out over lands and such. The FF people are being handsomely paid for their services, but the dukes have refused to send them back until they (the duke) achieves victory over their enemies. Some of the FF people probably won't like this, and they'll run away and start a rebellion of some sort, I'm sure.

Basically, the people in the RP will be fighting each other on the side of the two/three dukes, or against all of the dukes in order to go back home.

Well, maybe when this RP ends, we could bring back the Non-RP related IC forum.

*dusts off this topic and thanks the Heavens he doesn't have asthma, because the amount of dust on this topic is lethal* Okay well I was just thinking, and yes I did read all of this topic, but since all those RPs didn't really seem to get much support, I was thinking of something...and by thinking I mean I thought of it while I read this...

Anyways, I was thinking a sort of Turk Academy Roleplay, where people start off in training (Except for characters that are already Turks, such as Rude and Elena.) and eventually after they become trained (After an undetermined amount of time.) they're sent off on Turk-esque missions, such as Kidnappings and murders...I mean...picking flowers and petting puppies.

Since I seem to be the only Turk thats really active, I think we'll need to jump a few people to the top of the list so that we can train recruits more quickly, because 1 person with several students isn't a good idea...especially since it's Reno.

And of course this whole thing will be taken light-heartedly. There will be laughter and...uh...violence I guess. But I myself am going to try to avoid the whole romance thing...and the sleeping with students thing...thats never a respectable thing to do...looks bad on your resumé when you get fired for having sexual intercourse with a student...no matter who you are.

Anyways, would anyone want to participate, or make suggestions, or cut off my face? Feedback would be cool.

Would I get to run around and give orders to people?
