(2) “Cruentus” can mean either “bloody”, “blood-red”, or “bloodthirsty/cruel”.
(3) “Oriens” implies rising in the east, like the sun – hence the word “oriental”.
(4) From the depths of heaven or outer space – in other words, the “Calamity From the Sky”.
(5) “Angelus de Caeli iris” is literally “messenger concerning Heaven’s wrath”; “iris” is plural. “Angel” is Greek for messenger.
(6) I believe it could also be “He must be called.”
(7) “Spira” means spiral, and is here used as a pun on Spira. However, it also has another double meaning – it could be either the spiral of fate or the helical structure of DNA (Jenova cells).
(8) Literally, “a god with a pelt”. “Numen” refers to a local, tutelary deity.
