I recently heard about Jiraishin Diabolo, a manga which is a sequel to the original Jiraishin. This is probably the most awesome thing I've heard all year since anything created by Tsutomu Takahashi is awesome and Jiraishin is even more so.

DISCLAIMER: The following manga is not for the squeamish. It contains scenes of extreme and very graphic violence. This manga also features scenes of kidnapping, heart-rending tragedy, rape and graphic depictions of corpses.

For the uninitiated, Jiraishin is an ultra-dark manga about the investigations of Kyoya Ida, a member of the Shinjuku police. Presented in a case-by-case style, the manga is basically Miami Vice, only in Japan and MUCH more dark, cynical and unforgiving.

Kyoya Ida is quite the bad-*ss detective, he's hard-boiled to the n-th degree and tries to remain detached from his cases until the appropriate time comes to shoot the guy responsible. He may come off as emotionless at first, but once you see his cases, you will quickly learn why he's so jaded.

Each case seems to be trying to outdo its predecessor in terms of sheer tragedy and shock value. There are rarely any happy endings, and many pleasant characters either become more corrupt or get killed.
Most acts of violence happen on-screen. We get to see the person before during and after their ordeal. This manga does not cherry coat anything. It shows how horrible murder and other crimes are and you will agree with its point of view sooner or later.

Most importantly, this manga reminds us that all of the crimes were committed by people just like us. It serves as a reminder of what sort of monsters we can be and what we can be capable of.

Personally, it's one of my favourites. Reading through it is an intense and very cathartic experience. It manages to get just the right amount of emotion into every scene and makes you feel the impact that murder carries, something most other works lack. Similar to NaruTaru, this is a manga that seems to gleefully dive into the depths of tragedy. Most manga know when to call it quits, they know they hit rock-bottom at some point. Jiraishin hits rock-bottom, pick up a shovel and keeps digging deeper.

It is an intense ride, and for those who can take it, I recommend reading this manga as soon as you can.

Does couragewolf appear in this series?

I'm afraid the characters either don't need him (Ida) or it's too late for him to do anything (pretty much 95% of the rest of the characters in this manga).

Not interested, then. Looking for a series with couragewolf, preferably a tatoo of him on their left thigh.
