    {*}

It was time for a break from practicing with her powers. Day in and out she was practicing. Elessa had never been so driven to do anything, until now. There was something about the academy that made her feel like she had to prove herself. But today was her day off.

Elessa didn't enjoy spending time in the sun, but she did enjoy it's warmth when she sat underneath tree's to read and that's what she was going to do. She put on her bathing suit, just in case it was too hot, grabbed her book and a blanket and headed out of her dorm room into the oak grove.

It wasn't a long walk, she was there in a matter of minutes; the sun was hot, though. It warmed her back and reminded her of times she never had, playing with her brothers in snow. They never had a long summer, her family had always moved when it was warm out. That was the biggest mystery to Elessa.

After a few minutes of being picky, she finally found a large oak. It was beautiful with it's long, luscious branches spilling out towards the ground. Oak tree's, to Elessa, looked like Willow tree's except more leafy and less flowing.

She laid the blanket out, shaking it in the air a few times to get it just right, and took off her shoes. She then took off her tank-top ; the sun, even in the shade, was too hot for Elessa.

She would end up finding a pond or something sooner or later, hopefully an empty one so she could skinny dip. That was the only thing Elessa really did out of line, skinny dip. She enjoyed the water flowing around her, caressing every part of her body, including her intimate parts. There was something sensual and sexual about swimming naked.

Right now, Elessa was going to try and enjoy a few pages of her book. Lying on her stomach she opened up to the dog-eared page and began to read. It wasn't long until she fell asleep in the heat.

Declan loved Saturdays. It was the only time he allowed himself to take a break from his usual study time and have a day with out some sort of loose schedule. This particular Saturday Declan had woke up rather late. The fifteen year old usually was seen as an early bird (no put intended) but today it wasn't until noon that he rolled out of bed. When he finally did he was eager to get rid of the morning groginess. He quickly pulled on a pair of green basketball shorts, a white t-shirt and his worn running shoes. It was bright and sunny out and the outdoors were calling. Slapping on some deoderant right before he left his dorm, he quickly made his way outside and begain his run.

Declan was a fan of basically all physical activity. There wasn't a sport he didn't play or play well, when it came down to it. Soccer, basketball, baseball...mainly sports that had to do with running. If Dec had one weakness, besides girls that is, it was definetly his need for speed. Whether the boy was flying in his shifting form, running in a sport, or learning to drive with his slightly terrified father, he loved it. When December rolled around Declan was expecting his Dad to persuade his mother in getting him the fast, sports car he was dreaming of. He couldn't wait.

Dec gave his hair a shake and it bounced around his eyes, as he finally got outside. The hot sun hit his skin comfortingly, promsing to build on his tanned skin. He took a deep breath, did a quick round of stretches and began his jog around the grounds.

Not too long into it his jog, he automatically started to sweat. The hot sun was making him almost regret this acitvity decision. It was then that he spotted the Oak Grove. He quickly began to make his course towards the promised shade of the leaves. It wasn't long until he felt the comfort of the branches and he slowed down to a leisurely walk, his eyes facing upwards towards the green leaves until...

"Ah, shit," he muttered as he quickly recovered after tripping over something. Declan caught himself as best he could, avoiding completely falling on his face, and turned to see what he had tripped over, a raised root of some sort no doubt.

"Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" he quickly apologized to the pretty girl whose leg he had just tripped over. He hurried over to her, bending slightly and incredibly glad he had thrown on the deoderant. He flashed her a pair of apologetic, big brown eyes.

God damnit! The sleeping girl woke with a jolt, flipping over to check out the damages. Standing next to her was a boy, she ignored him for a few minutes.

"Do you not watch where your going?! What the hell?"Grumbling, she examined her leg. She was an easy bruiser and would develop a bruise within the next few minutes. It was a downside to being her parents daughter. They both had von Willebrand disease and passed it on to only Elessa. Lucky, siblings is what she had. Whenever Elessa wanted to go out they always made her wear a bracelet that said she had the disease. She wasn't fragile and she could take of herself, at least that's what she had always told them.

Elessa looked up at the boy. He was probably fifteen or so and he was cute. He was apologizing to her and his big brown puppy-like eyes made it that much sweeter. She couldn't stay mad at this stranger.

"No biggie." A smile spread across her face. Her hand traveled across her chest, covering anything that might be showing. The tank-top she had been wearing earlier was underneath her book and it was going to stay there. The sun was beating down on her more than earlier; it was scorching.

Concentrating, Elessa gathered all her mental strength and the tree's started to move a little, creating a breeze for her. She couldn't do much but a small breeze was better than no breeze.

She pat the ground next to her, offering for the boy to sit down. It looked like he had been running. He could use a break, she thought to herself.

As a young girl, Elessa grew up with brothers, they teased her and taunted her. She never really got the chance to learn how boys really treated girls and, for that matter, never got the chance to have a boyfriend. So, being around boys now was kind of nerve racking and awkward for her but she was trying.

The want was there, to be around boys and to do things with boys. She wanted to know what it was like to be touched, rubbed, and kissed - to have herself pleasured.

And of her "girl" friends from her previous school were always telling her how they had fucked so and so or who had gone down on who. Stories like that never passed through Elessa's lips, just like everything else. It never made it any easier to be around guys.

Declan's jaw tightened uncomfortably as the girl yelled at him. If there was one thing this boy was not into, it was confronation. He avoided it at almost all costs, which was probably why most people liked him. He doubted if anyone at this school had ever seen him mad. His own parents probably hadn't heard him yell since he was five. However, the girl who he had just stomped on looked in his eyes and he was pleased to see her anger melt away quickly enough as he apologized.

The jaw muscles relaxed as she forgave him and the crooked smile curled into the corner of his mouth. Feeling it would be rude to not sit after almost polverizing the girl he took a seat on the grass beside her, his eyes quickly dancing over her body as he did so, paying particular attention to her chest as she drew attention to it. She was wonderfully attractive, he decided, as he enjoyed her bare shoulders and stomach.

"I really am sorry," he apologized again, watching the trees begin to move, causing a pleasan breeze for the both of them. It was easy enough to figure out what race she was now so he didn't even bother asking. "And that's really nice," he commented as the breeze blew over him. "It's bloody hot out here. Lucky I decided to break your leg or I could have died of a heat stroke," he told her jokingly, over exaggerating the situation completely. Declan grabbed the bottom of his shirt and pulled if off completely so his sweat stained shirt wouldn't stick to him and he could thoroughly enjoy the artifical air conditioning. He leaned back on the tree next to her and closed his eyes for a moment.

He sighed deeply, taking in the fresh air, then opened his round eyes again.

"I'm Declan," he said introducing himself and flashing his charming smile.

Elessa closed her eyes for a few seconds to enjoy her little breeze. When she opened them she saw the boy's eyes glance at her chest, she had tried to cover it but in the process drew more attention to herself. She blushed and put her hands behind her, leaning back and into the sun, hoping it wouldn't draw too much more attention to herself. Elessa could be naive, thinking boys weren't really all about skin and bodies. One of those times was right now.

"It's bloody hot out here. Lucky I decided to break your leg or I could have died of a heat stroke," giggling she turned her attention to him and away from her thoughts. As she did, he pulled his shirt off; it was like candy for a child. Elessa may not know much about interacting with boys, but she loved looking and the way she felt looking at a handsome man.

The girl gave him her most welcoming smile and adjusted her gaze towards the other tree's. She was enjoying the company, stranger or not, it was lovely to have someone around. The days had started to blur with her practice and she hadn't met too many new people.

Elessa let out a sigh and the wind picked up for a second. That was something she could never get used to, controlling the wind with just a sigh.

    "I'm Declan," smiling at her.

"Elessa," she pushed a piece of hair out of her face and smiled back at him. "I can't believe how hot it is for October, I want to go swimming or something."

Small talk never came easy, eh, talking, period, didn't come easy to her. She knew she might sound awkward sometimes but never gave up. Elessa was always optimistic.

Sunny days, Ian’s favorite. They allowed him to see just a little bit which was the most wonderful experience. He was not wearing sunglasses today, of course, and he had chosen to wear some shorts because the weather was rather hot. Saturday and all by himself. He didn’t have any special plans tonight. He didn’t even have his Ipod with him to entertain him. There was only one thing to do. Grow some pretty tress. Ah, yes. Ian was now walking around the campus putting flowers and killing weeds everywhere he could. He was so experiences manipulating earth but he doesn’t find it boring. In fact, every time he did something with his power it made him feel more useful and happy.

He was now close to some oak groves. They were big and strong trees and it took a little more effort to manipulate them. Ian stopped when his walking stick touched a rock. He kneeled down and pushed it away founded a little seed. He took it in his hand and felt it. Yes, it was in fact an oak seed. He couldn’t understand how it had gotten under the rock but he was glad he had found it. Ian continued his walk until he found a good spot to plant it. He made a little hole, put the seed inside it and covered it up. And then he heard some familiar voices.

Elessa and Declan, close friends of him. Well, he had been attracted to Elessa lately but he hadn’t told her yet anything. And Declan who first hadn’t noticed he was blind. He had liked him right away. They seemed to be enjoying their time together. Hmmm, Ian was curious to know what they were talking about. Instead of making the little seed grow, Ian went to the nearest oak. It would seem suspicious if a big oak tree appears out of nowhere. No, he made the already big oak a little wider and hid next to it. He was pretty close to them and that way he could hear perfectly what they were talking about.

Elessa. Declan tried to commit it to memory. It rang a bell. As though he had heard someone talking about an Elessa. The more he thought about it, the more he was pretty sure that was indeed the case, but for the life of him, Declan could not remember who or what the situation had been. The boy shrugged it off internally.

"Ha, I know what you mean. I'm not even much of a swimmer and it sounds nice, especially if you're splashing around too," he replied smoothly, as though it was the most natural thing in the world to say.

This was true. Probably the only thing that could get Declan into the water was a pretty girl. He was a bird. Declan did not find the appeal in being wet at all. Unless he could touch the bottom then there was no way he was going in.

Declan looked around and his eyes found Elessa's discarded tank-top and book. "What are you reading?" he asked curiously. Declan was a big reader. He was a relatively studious person and a love of books sort of came with that. Then on top of it, Declan was the son of two Cambridge professors. Since he had been born, books were practically shoved down his throat. Everything from his mother's classic fiction books like Dracula to his father's philosophical reads like, The Unbearable Lightness of Being. Just basic reading in the Maddox house hold.

Elessa loved to read everything and anything. But her favorite things to read were those that were out of the norm. People who write about honest things, like what it's like to fuck or fight or die even. She also loved fictional stories about the afterlife. It fascinated her beyond anything else.

"I'm reading a collection of stories. The book is called, 'The Bus Driver Who Wanted to Be God & Other Stories'. It's by Etgar Keret, he's quite the author." The book was light in her hands as she lifted it from the blanket and held it out like Vanna White.

"So, I've been thinking about your race and I haven't come to any conclusions. Are you human?" Setting the book down, she turned towards him and folded her legs. She was intent on learning more about him. Elessa knew that because she was such an eager learner she could come off strange and she was hoping that wasn't the case now.

It was still scorching as they talked, so Elessa dumped out some of her water bottle on the ground into a puddle. She would use her hands, for once, to control her powers. She placed her hand over the small puddle and slowly brought it up until her hand was level with the top of her head. With the breeze she misted them with the cold water she raised off of the ground

Huh? Ian thought to himself as he listened carefully behind his hiding place. Declan seemed to be acting different around Elessa. Although the more he got to know him, the more he realized he acted different with every girl he met. That was good, Ian thought, but he still sensed something different going on with Elessa. Almost like he was … flirting. Oh no! It couldn’t be. He had talked about Elessa with Declan before. Told him how he felt about her but how he didn’t dare do something about it. Surely this must be Ian getting a little jealous that he’s not the one next to her. Maybe he should listen more carefully instead of drawing attention to himself. So Elessa thought Declan was human? How fascinating. Not. Being able to manipulate earth, and a little fire, was way cooler than having wings and claws. Damn. But Declan had sight. He couldn’t beat that.

I know, I know. It took me forever to write this
little paragraph, but seriously, what could I write?!

Declan nodded interestedly. "Ha. Promising title," he laughed. "Yeah, I've heard of him. Never got around to reading him though. I'm not one for short stories. I'm more of a novel guy, myself," Declan replied, picking up her book and thumbing through it for a moment. It was true. Short stories were fine but he liked character development and lots of detail. Short stories were good for making a quick point and not usually the focal point of an intricate plot. Definitely not his taste.

"Oh. Ha sorry. I guess I haven't gotten used to just announcing that sort of thing, ya' know," he smiled and laughed warmly at himself. "I'm a shifter. Harpy eagle," Declan couldn't resist his crooked smile when he told her. Declan had always been really proud of the fact he was a shifter. Being biased towards his own race, he thought it was the best ability to have in the world. It was like being two different people. And the feeling of flying, the sensation of complete escape. It was the most relieving thing in the world. It also felt a lot safer. Declan never worried about being in a danger situation. He was always confident he could handle anything that was thrown against him. Or handle anyone for that matter.

"We probably blend in the most," he added, ignoring the slight twinge of resentment at being mistaken for a human, not that he had anything against human. Declan was one who really could care less about this whole war against the races. People were people, and girls were girls, everyone deserved a chance.

Declan watched, intrigued, as Elessa misted water over her and himself. First he was just interested in her manipulation. Then he was focusing on her now wet body and specifically chest. "Mmm," he hummed, pretending to be relaxing as the water droplets splashed his slightly flexed chest. "That feels great...but I'm not exactly sure you're cooling me off," he added cooly, his dark brown eyes, again, glancing her body. This was just hot. There was no way around it. All he needed was his lips on her chest.

((OOC: no its fine. i'm not really sure what you would say. lol. ))
