*CONTEST IS OVER*

Well I know I do so lets have a contest why don't we eh? So here it is the new E7 Banner Contest, this contest will run from Today Aug 6th 2009 till Aug 20th 2009. Here are the rules:

Since it has been 2+years since the series ended Show spoilers are OK to a degree, Movie Spoilers are a No go. If you have one thats questionable PM it to me and i will let you know.

One person can only Submit 2 Banners

The banner must be the same size of the Current Banner Which i believe is 750x250.

I cant think of anything else at the moment if anyone else has any more rules that should be added let me know.

Now at the end of the 2 week period we will have a poll that will be open for a week in which people will be allowed to choose the best of the banners.

Well Ladies and Gents lets make this fun, no flaming other banners and such so lets get cracking and post your banners here.

Any restrictions on the file size or image format?

Jpeg would probably be best but formats can easily be changed.

Out of curiosity, can it be longer than 750 pixels wide? If someone was even using such a poor resolution as 1024x768, it still wouldn't stretch the browser. Just wondering.

The largest width should be no more than 752 pixels wide to be fully visible in a 1024x768 browser generally because of the gutter spacing of approximately 8px on either side with or without a sidebar (That being the lowest common denominator of IE 5.5+).

P.S. No one likes the dreaded horizontal scroll. sad.gif

Okay, because for me, I'm using 1680x1050, and it's just so small for me...and I don't know why anyone would use 1024x768 unless they have to. Maybe make a poll and see what resolution the forum users use?

Same here, and I like the idea of running a poll. I just don't know how effective it would be, besides you can see the screen resolutions of many members from the "Post your desktop!!!" thread. In this day and age you (A Web Designer's perspective) can generally assume the lowest common denominator is 1024x768 (I don't know of any 800x600 users, or at least those who use that setting normally).

Yeah the only relics I think here that would use a 800x600 screens would be like library computers. On the side of 1024x768, I think most Mac users. For some reason whenever I used Macs and stuff, their resolution was horrible because the screen had more pixels or something, so they were like it's a sexy screen so let's not bump up the resolution if we don't have to. To this day I don't think I've seen a mac go higher than 1280x1024.

I know some people who use 1074x768 even though there monitor supports 1280x1024, they wouldn't let me turn the resolution up, apparently 1024x768 is better.

Here's my first submission, as I've always liked this image:

The image was cut at 752 x 376 (720 x 376 image with 32 pixels of masked gradient), it seemed like a better aspect to me and it came out much better than the original 752 x 250 cut. Unsure if I'll keep the text as is, and I might modify the lighting effects slightly, but there you go.
