I came across this video today, and it's mildly interesting. It's current, as it talks about the VII Compilation (up to Crisis Core) and mentions the plans for XIII. Unsurprisingly, it doesn't mention the black sheep that is Mystic Quest, nor does it mention any of the Game Boy titles (Adventure, Legend and Legend II). Then again, they weren't really Final Fantasy, they just had the name slapped on them when they were brought over to try and make money, but still.

Anyway, the link is below. If enough people think it's worth keeping around, it might be a good idea to have this stickied.

[strike]The History of Final Fantasy[/strike]

EDIT: Unfortunately, since TV-Links was taken down, I'll have to find another location that had that special.

EDIT v2: I've found it again, this time on Youtube, in four parts. Also, I've discovered where it comes from. According to my research, it comes off of the bonus disc from the collector's edition of XII, but I'll need confirmation on that.

The History of Final Fantasy - Part I
The History of Final Fantasy - Part II
The History of Final Fantasy - Part III
The History of Final Fantasy - Part IV

Additionally, here's a similar video history of Final Fantasy, this time from the people at G4. It's in two parts, and both links are below.

G4 - The History of Final Fantasy - Part 1
G4 - The History of Final Fantasy - Part 2

EDIT: I've found a 13-part retrospective on Final Fantasy, by way of Gametrailers.com. Enjoy.

A good watch, indeed. I had seen the one on tv-links, but I had never watched it.

A new series of videos chronicling the series has been added to the first post, by way of Gametrailers.com. Enjoy.

Those new links were quite good. Watching them all back to back ate up a good amount of time, but it was worth it.

Only watched the first part (Don't have time to watch all 13 in one run, so I'll watch them whenever.) But that was pretty cool. You sir, are my hero.

The top post has been edited again, with new links for the videos that had formerly been lost via TV-Links.co.uk's shutting down. Yatta!
