General Rules
These are the most important rules, and all members will be expected to follow them at all times; we will not accept failure to follow these rules as they are basic and easy to remember.
1a) All new members start out as first years, with the exception of family, plot or canon characters and adults.

1b) All members must register with a first and last name; those who fail to do so are likely to be considered spam and deleted. If you have just joined and need your name changing, please post here and we'll be happy to fix it for you.

1c) Characters with a special race or ability or relation to canon are only permitted through application (Signups and Applications Forum), or by purchase at the Admins' Stall in the Muggle Marketplace (adult characters only).

1d) There are to be no suicidal acts, killings or major violence, unless the said event has been reviewed and approved by an admin – only very special cases would ever be accepted.

1e) Unrealistic situations cannot be RolePlayed unless approved by the admin. Examples include, but are not limited to, being a Death Eater/Order member, characters switching bodies, etc.

1f) Any personal information including, but not limited to, last names and addresses, are not to be posted in the interest of personal safety. Personal Photos are also not permitted.

1g) Other sites and forums can only be advertised in the Plug Board, and all additional rules (pinned in the Plug Board) must be followed.
Post Rules
These rules are to be taken into account when you are posting a Role-Play.
2a) Out of lessons posts must be at least 150+ words.

2b) Lesson posts must be at least 400+ words.

2c) Posts must generally be rated PG-13 or lower, however the occasional use of light R-rated language (no higher) may be used provided there is a warning written clearly at the top of topics/posts.

2d) Posts in In-Character Topics must not consist of purely Out-Of-Character messages.
Signature Rules
We have certain signature requirements to assure that members do not take up too much space upon a page or scroll the boards for other members. Our current rules are below. Anyone breaking these rules may be punished with a warn-level raise and any questions regarding the requirements may be PM'd to one of the admins.
3a) We do not have a limit on individual image/blinkie sizes or text amount, but your signature as a whole must be no bigger than 450x250 pixels (i.e. it must fit inside this box).
In addition to the above rule, there are also limitations on the type of signature you may use, as well as regards to the actor or actress you may choose to have portray your character in said graphics.
3b) Celebrities portraying student characters must be under 30 years of age in each picture.

3c) Girls must keep in mind that they are playing either a pre-teen or a teenager so celebrities that are extremely busty should be out of the question.

3d) Students not in their sixth or seventh year may not be portrayed by celebrities with facial hair. (Sixth or Seventh years are fine to have some amount of facial hair.)

3e) Characters may not be portrayed by a cartoon character or an anime figure.
Graduation Policy
You can attend any lesson for your age group (PREP = First to Third Years, OWL = Fourth and Fifth Years, NEWT = Sixth and Seventh Years, ALL = Everyone) and do not need to enrol. However, if you have enough money you can buy a lesson from the Admins' Stall in the Muggle Marketplace.

Each year has a set amount of lessons you must learn before you can be transferred to the next year, and to resemble the real Hogwarts system, it becomes increasingly difficult to move up to the next level. If you do have enough to move on you simply have to apply in the Graduation forum to be moved up a year, and your member group will be changed A.S.A.P.
QUOTE
From first to second year – 6
From second to third year – 7 (Total: 13)
From third to fourth year – 7 (Total: 20)
From fourth to fifth year – 8 (Total: 28)
From fifth to sixth year – 8 (Total: 36)
From sixth to seventh year – 9 (Total: 45)
From seventh year – 10 (Total: 55)

There are, however, spells that your character can use that are not taught within lessons. More details can be found here, as these spells do not count towards graduation.
