1. Be literate/advanced. This applies both in and out of character, though especially when you’re in character; do not use chatspeak. Ever. Use proper grammar/punctuation/etc. Your posts should be at least twelve sentences each, though of course we welcome longer as well. Look, that’s only two decent-sized paragraphs. You can do it.
2. Be considerate. There will be no bashing or flaming – only respect. If you disagree with someone’s opinion, that’s one thing; debates are fine and welcomed, as long as there is no flaming. Oh, and no discrimination out of character whatsoever; this includes (but is by no means limited to) discrimination by race, skin color, sexual orientation, beliefs [i.e. political or religious]. However, if your character is discriminatory in character, that’s a different story – people like that really do exist, after all.
3. The general rating for this board is PG-13; that means that things will happen. You’re allowed to swear and violence is violence is certainly accepted, as is romance. However, if you’d like to indulge in any kind of graphic sexual material, please slap an ‘NC-17’ rating in the title. If it turns that way and you didn’t expect it, just PM an administrator and we will edit it for you.
4. Your account must be your character’s: First name. Space. Last name. If you wind up making a mistake, don’t have a meltdown; just PM one of your resident administrators and we’ll sort it out for you. However, because some characters have a past and a present version, if the first and last name has already been taken, include a middle name. This is ONLY if that name has been taken already.
5. Any and all types of relationships are accepted here. Your character may be of any sexual orientation – we do not discriminate.
6. If someone is seriously irritating you, please try to solve it through PM [do not, for instance, attack each other on the boards]. If the harassing/argument doesn’t end, and you’re having a serious problem, PM one of the administrator and we’ll hear both sides of the story before deciding what to do about it.
7. Please do not post out of character messages on in character boards. If you have something you need to say out of character, just attach it to your in character post. Also, no double posting, please; that’s what the ‘modify’ button is for.
8. You may have as many characters as you can handle properly, but a new account must be created for each. If we feel you’re losing activity due to the number of characters you’re trying to handle, we’ll warn you. If your activity doesn’t pick up, we’ll have to get rid of one of your characters [your choice].
9. Please post at least once a week. [if you've read all of the rules, you must post in bold at the bottom of your application shabam!] If you're going to be absent, that's different; just be sure to post on the 'Absences' board.
10. Register before you post your application. If someone is applying for the same character as you – but hasn’t yet been accepted – you’re welcome to apply as well. However, considering the name won’t be open, just change it around a little: use the first name only or maybe add in a middle name. If you’re chosen, we’ll edit your username for you.
11. You should have a picture of your character in your avatar and/or signature. Your character must be a real person, not an anime character or anything of the sort. The only exception is if you hand-drew the person because you honestly couldn’t find a celebrity that worked, but even then, this is discouraged.
12. Keep your character canon. If you have a canon character, keep them in character. If they change, you’ll need to do it subtly and there will need to be motivation behind it. Severus Snape is not going to turn into any kind of a gentlemen overnight and it’s questionable whether Harry Potter will ever become 1/100th of any sort of ‘lady’s man’. [I'd also like you to add in your favorite band at the top in italics. Thank you.] So, please.
13. Rather than applying as a made-up, perhaps you could just join as a minor character; that way, your character is canon but you also have plenty of room to expand on it. Made-ups, however, are currently being: accepted.
14. Animagus characters, veela characters, and werewolf characters are all highly uncommon. This means that we have a limit in the amount of characters allowed to fill the spots. These do not include characters known to have the ability already.
