So recent days have yeilded 2009's game developper's conference which seem to be bigger than E3 at this point. A few things were of note.

Kojima talks MGS! He shows a small teaser about barriers that snake hits, and jumps until a last one that snake can't topple. Explaining that this means MGS as a series has always been about innovating the action genre, MGS4 was meant to be a Final Metal Gear, the perfect stealth game. But as usuall, Hideo wants bigger, better, FASTER, STRONGER. So MGS5 is meant to be innovative not only in power of the game, but all around. Also, he got a promotion. Wewt.

tl;dr: Will be MGS5, even Hideo doesn't know what it'll be like.

NEW ZELDA(AND THERE'S ACTUALL INFO)! Well, it's not the Zelda on Wii we've been hearing about, but another DS Zelda game in the vain of Wind Waker is pushing along. It's titled Spirit Tracks and involves... Trains. There were a few trailers and stuff on Gamespot.

tl;dr: ... NEW ZELDA! spaz_smiley.gif

DSi coming April 5th in Japan... Yeah...

2 new FFs on WiIWare, FFIV's sequel and a more sinister version of My Life as a King.

That's all that really caught my eye.

Just a couple of corrections. Its GDC, you have GDS. Also, the DSi has been out in Japan for a while now and just hit 2 million. April 5th is the release date for the DSi over here.

You missed the updated storage solution announcement. Sure, we knew it was coming, but now that it's here it's amazing and certainly worth mentioning.

I'm not too excited about the new zelda though. Phantom Hourglass was somewhat disappointing since it didn't even compare to the Oracle games or Link's Awakening. Then the whole dungeon gimmick pissed me off and was more tedious than fun or interesting.

Hopefully it will be good and, actually, hopefully it will be an actual game and not just another side-adventure waste of space like phantom hourglass (literally nothing happened plot wise...which sucks considering they set it up to be a continuation of windwaker which actually had some plot).

I'm glad it wasn't a new Zelda on Wii though, I want them to take their time on that in order to perfect the WiiMotion+ controls. As long as they perfect the controls, it will be a sweet game no matter what.

My friend told me about the Train thing earlier today. Meh, the whole WW timeline is seeming pretty damn gimmicky. Boats, then steam boats, and now trains. By the next one, I bet Link will save Zelda, a flight attendant, from Ganondorf, some black midget that's so badass that he shits out the plane windows instead of using the bathroom.

Am I the only person who Liked PH?

Seriously, at least it tried some new ideas unlike most of the recent Zelda games.

Though, another game like it is a rather daunting prospect.

Trying something new is okay...but the dungeons sucked and that's inexcusable. Then it was linear as hell with no interesting characters or sidequests. Then the only real change was that new dungeon, but it was extremely tedious and offered nothing new. The boss battles were cool because they were at least creative and some of the features implemented were great (like the drawable map and the whole flipping it closed to solve the puzzle thing), but other than that it sucked. It is the only Zelda game I beat and never played again.

Alright my computer sucks, and my post disappeared.

It tried new things, and because of it, had a much more natural feel. The big dungeon was tedious but it forced you to think, which is a good thing. The other dungeons were linear, but they had a few tricky moments.

Seriously, they were better than TP's dungeons. Really easy, linear, and unoriginal.

It does have a pile of dung for a story, but it has a decent bit of originallity to it.

Actually, some of TPs dungeons were pretty original. Well, basically only the Ice House and the Sky Dungeon, but the others were at least more challenging than the PH ones. Neither game was all too great, but TP was the better game since there were actually places to explore and even just fighting enemies was more fun than anything PH had to offer.

Then the big dungeon hardly forced you to think...it was mainly just tedious. Everything was fairly obvious and the only point in that whole dungeon that made me really think was the part where you had to flip the screen. The only fun run through was the one where you could actually kill the things. PH was basically Zelda Lite and Spirit Tracks looks to be the same. If it is, I likely won't even buy it since the only person in my house that still plays PH is my little sister and only because she doesn't have to ask for help to play it (that's how easy it is...the only other Zelda game she's beaten is Windwaker and she did need my help for that so...).

I'll give you those two, but they were still linear and easy. Fighting enemies in TP wasn't fun, unless you are using the bow to snipe them. Normal fighting was just tedious and boring. Especially if you get the skills and use them. It was possibly better on the GCN because you don't have the infernal waggleing, but even then it was still very tedious because of the difficulty.

There was alot of strategy in the big dungeon, it wasn't a huge amount of thinking, but it was better than anything in the two console zeldas before it. TP I got through without a single thought, and WW isn't much better. The bosses are harder, but thats the only part of the game that is harder.

I don't like these arguments because so much of them are opinion. I like PH because it has originality. The past few games are formed from a cookie cutter made from OoT, I'm getting tired of it, and I don't ever want to see it again.
