Get There if You Can music video: I Know You're Out There Somewhere (Moody Blues) Studies at Stanford University by Dr. Marilyn Schlitz have shown, in a continuation of the research that she originated with Dr. William Braud, that we can affect the blood pressure, heart rate or electrical conduction of the skin of another person at a different location through our thoughts. Scientists at Princeton have documented the mental communication of information from one person to another over distances of thousands of miles. Dr. Roger Nelson, of Princeton's Engineering Anomalies Research Laboratory (or PEAR Lab), announced the results of research that showed that subjects in the study were able to communicate complex information such as images of very different types of buildings and sculptures to other subjects thousands of miles away. The proof that such information could be communicated mentally from one person to another was interesting enough, but what really astounded the audience in the Smithsonian seminar in February 1994 where the results were announced was that, in a large number of cases, receivers got the information up to three days before it was sent out. [From the Introduction and notes to the book The Emerging Mind, ed. by Karen Nesbitt Shanor, Ph.D., Renaissance Books, Los Angeles, CA 1999. Afterwards, You’re a Genius: Faith, Medicine and the Metaphysics of Healing (by Chip Brown, Riverhead Books (Penguin Putnam), New York 1998) also notes a summary of the work of the PEAR lab in Margins of Reality: The Role of Consciousness in the Physical World, Robert G. Jahn and Brenda Dunne, Harcourt Brace Jovanivich, New York, 1979. ### "Attention, all stations on this frequency ...." Roger Penrose and Stuart Hameroff suggest that a likely site for interaction between quantum and classical levels of activity among cells is within extremely tiny tube-like structures in the neurons in the areas of the dendrites. These tiny insulated microtubules, which seem to guide much of what takes place intracellularly, are thought to possess quartzlike qualities -- similar to the idea of a radio receiver. Newtonian and quantum processes complement and interact with each other. Quantum information, which forms the basis of consciousness, changes into physical properties at the level of molecules and larger, and the reverse occurs as well. Information is brought in from the environment and quantum soup of the universe, transformed and encoded in some way in our brain and the rest of the body, then used or stored. Conversely, our thoughts and emotions are coded in subatomic information which is broadcast (cast broadly) into the environment, like a radio wave, both locally and at great distances, depending on the frequency and power of the transmitter. (Compare this to the projection of ki in aikido.) (from "The Brain and Consciousness", by Karen Nesbitt Shanor, Ph.D., in The Emerging Mind) music video: Radar Love, Golden Earring ### The following brain wave patterns have been identified: Beta pattern: This is the fastest (13-100+ Hertz (Hz) , or cycles per second). This is the common pattern of normal waking consciousness and is associated with alertness, psychic arousal and concentration. Except for unusual circumstances, we create some combination of all four categories of brain waves at all times. For most people, most of the time, however, beta waves are of greater amplitude, or strength, than the others, and are therefore most prominent. We now also understand that higher-end beta waves (30 Hz and higher) occur during times of uneasiness, distress and anxiety. Dysfunctional and addictive behaviors, neurosis, and strong feelings of separation are common experiences when the brain operates in the extreme high end of the beta range, which are also associated with the “flight or fight” response. Alpha pattern: This pattern is somewhat slower (8-12.9 Hz) and occurs soon after closing your eyes and relaxing. Alpha brain waves are associated with introspection. In the alpha state, the body produces calming neuro-chemicals. At the higher end of its range, it produces what has been termed a “superlearning” state. When you are deeply absorbed in something, you are probably making an increased amount of alpha waves. Pre-sleep or pre-waking drowsiness occur at the lower end of the alpha range. Deep alpha (the lowest end of the range) is also associated with peace and contentment, and is the predominant brain wave pattern of traditional meditation, creating “the relaxation response”. In this state, instead of being mobilized to deal with external danger, we are turned inward for introspection, learning, relaxation and renewal. Theta pattern: This pattern is slower still (4-7.9 Hz), and is the pattern of rapid eye movement (REM) dreaming sleep, sometimes called a hypnagogic state. Theta is associated with advanced creativity, memory, healing and integrative experiences, where we put together previously disparate pieces of information, leading to an “aha!” experience or sudden understanding. Generally, even very advanced meditators attain the theta state for only moments at a time. Studies of Zen monks have shown momentary bursts of heightened theta during meditation. Many psychologists believe the theta state is the doorway to the unconscious mind. Delta pattern: This is the slowest pattern (0.1-3.9 Hz), the pattern of dreamless sleep. Some have postulated that, in delta, we make contact with what Jung called “the collective unconscious” shared by all humans. A great feeling of unity and oneness is experienced in delta. At the same time, it is possible to be alert in this state, as long as there is a small amount of beta, alpha or theta patterns. While some delta waves are happening all the time in the brain of every person, meditators do not enter a predominantly delta state (unless they fall asleep, in which case they are no longer meditating). From Thresholds of the Mind, Bill Harris, Centrepointe Research Institute, Beaverton, OR 2002. Robert Monroe of the Monroe Institute reported that inducing brain wave patterns through the creation of binaural beats in the brain caused a wide range of effects, including “focusing of attention, suggestibility, problem solving, creativity, memory and learning…, sleep induction, pain control… and enhanced learning….” [Michael Hutchinson’s book MegaBrain (Ballantine Books, NY, 1986) is noted in Thresholds of the Mind.] Other scientists have noted that these slower brain wave patterns are accompanied by deep tranquility, flashes of creative insight, euphoria, intensely focused attention, and enhanced learning abilities. ![]() Dr. Lester Fehmi, director of the Princeton Biofeedback Research Institute, has said that hemispheric synchronization represents “the maximum efficiency of information transport throughout the whole brain” and “[it] is correlated experientially with a union with experience, and ‘into-it-ness’. Instead of feeling separate and narrow-focused, you tend to feel more into it – that is, unified with the experience, you are the experience – and the scope of your awareness is widened a great deal, so that you’re including many more experiences at the same time. There’s a whole-brain sensory integration going on, and it’s as if you become less self-conscious and you function more intuitively.” [Fehmi, Lester F. and George Fritz: “Open Focus: The Attentional Foundation of Health and Well-Being,”, Somatics, Spring 1980, noted in Thresholds of the Mind.] Speech-Language pathologist Suzanne Evans Morris, Ph.D. describes the relationship between different brainwave patterns and learning, as well as other related states such as concentration, problem solving, receptivity, and creativity.
Lower auditory centers of the brain are the medulla oblongata. Nerve impulses from the right and left ears first meet in the left or right superior olivary nucleus, part of an organ that lies behind the brain stem. By introducing different binaural beats into the sound processing centers of the brain, it is possible to induce brain waves and entrain both hemi-spheres of the brain to the same specific brain waves, thus maximizing inter-hemispheric neural communication [via the corpus callosum]. It has been shown that induced brain wave states can cause superlearning, increased creativity, induce sleep, control pain, modify behavior, focus attention, relieve stress, increase memory, and dramatically improve mental and emotional health. ## You can get a copy of Holosync's free meditation demo CD, and more information about the meditation program, here... http://www.centerpointe.com/ I have previously, and repeatedly, recommended this … I am now on Level II and a frequent listener to four separate CD’s, one for general meditation, one for gamma meditation ( http://www.urbandharma.org/udharma8/monksmed.html ), as well as others… The book “Thresholds of the Mind” is very good… I gave mine away … and will probably re-order it soon. I did just provide a review of the product at Amazon as well. http://www.amazon.com/Thresholds-Mind-Bill...s/dp/0972178007 -------------------- "Every [weapon developed and used] signifies, in the final sense, a theft.... music video: You Were Always on My Mind, Willie Nelson Scientists hail a thoughtful future with ‘brain-to-brain communication’ Ever wanted to read minds? Ever wanted to communicate your thoughts without speaking a word? It may become possible after claims by British scientists that they have created a system that allows “brain-to-brain communication”, sending messages formed by one person’s brain signals though an internet connection to another person’s brain many miles away. Christopher James, who worked with colleagues at the University of Southampton, said that his experiments were “the first baby steps” towards technologies that would allow people instantly to send thoughts, words, and images directly into the minds of others. “This could be useful for those people who are locked into their bodies, who can’t speak, can’t even blink,” Dr James said. Others have hailed it as the future of the internet, a new way to communicate without the need for keyboards, telephones or even mouths. A decent broadband connection, however, would be essential. Dr James admitted that we were a long way away from this thoughtful but speechless future. Currently, only a series of binary digits — a sequence of zeros and ones — can be sent between brains. The scientists used “brain-computer interfacing”, a well-established technique that allows computers to analyse brain signals. Dr James said that his innovation was the transmission of these signals to another person through the internet. During the transmission two people are hooked up to electrodes that measure activity in specific parts of the brain. The first person generates a series of zeros and ones, imagining moving their left arm for zero and right arm for one. The first subject’s computer recognises the binary thoughts and sends them over the internet to the second person’s computer. A lamp is then flashed at two different frequencies for one and zero. The second person’s brain signals are analysed after staring at this lamp and the number sequence is picked up by a computer. It takes about 30 seconds to send four numbers in this way. Dr James said that the next stage was to make the system quicker and simpler. “It’s not telepathy,” Dr James said. “There’s no conscious thought forming in one person’s head and another conscious thought appearing in another person’s mind. “The next experiments are to get that second person to be aware of the information that is being sent to them. For that, I need to get my thinking cap on, so to speak.” “It’s not telepathy,” Dr James said. “There’s no conscious thought forming in one person’s head and another conscious thought appearing in another person’s mind. “The next experiments are to get that second person to be aware of the information that is being sent to them. For that, I need to get my thinking cap on, so to speak.” He said that his research proved that it would eventually be possible to create a system where people sent messages through their thoughts alone. It would probably require electrodes to be attached inside the skull or even implanted in the brain. Dr James admitted that this opened up many ethical problems. “How far can you go into someone’s brain? What are the long-term consequences? In principle this is all possible but there are a lot of issues that need to be considered first.” Experts said that we need not worry just yet. “In 30 years, you’ll think of a message and it will appear on your wife’s mobile phone,” said Dr Ian Pearson, a futurologist who follows trends in advanced computing and communications. “But for that thought to appear in someone else’s mind? That won’t be easy. “You don’t have to worry about Big Brother recording your thoughts for decades yet." http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/ne...icle6875197.ece **** “Every human society uses music in some or other form, and music must therefore be assumed to be an ancestral trait in humans, like other art forms. It is natural then, to speculate about the origin of music in the context of evolutionary history. Compared to other art forms, however, the problem of music is that it does not fossilize well or leave other permanent traces….” More here (but probably not really of interest or value): http://www.musicandmeaning.net/issues/show...e.php?artID=5.7 **** http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long-distance_relationship Music video: Adagio, Lara Fabian **** "We know very little about whale communications. Message from the Hopi Elders
We have been telling the people that this is the Eleventh Hour. Now we must go back and tell people that THIS is the hour. And there are things to be considered: Where are you living? What are you doing? What are your relationships? Are you in right relation? Where is your water? Know your garden. It is time to speak your truth. Create your community. Be good to each other. And do not look outside yourself for the leader. This could be a good time! There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold onto the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart, and they will suffer greatly. Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, Push off into the river. Keep your eyes open, And your heads above the water. See who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally, Least of all ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey Comes to a halt. The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves! Banish the word struggle from your attitude and vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration. We are the Ones we've been waiting for. ### War cannot be avoided until the physical cause for its recurrence is removed and this, in the last analysis, is the vast extent of the planet on which we live. Only through annihilation of distance in every respect, as the conveyance of intelligence, transport of passengers and supplies and transmission of energy will conditions be brought about some day, insuring permanency of friendly relations. What we now want is closer contact and better understanding between individuals and communities all over the earth, and the elimination of egoism and pride which is always prone to plunge the world into primeval barbarism and strife... Peace can only come as a natural consequence of universal enlightenment... -- Nikola Tesla, 1919 ### At our best, our collective actions can become as resonant as a singing bowl, with a similar clearing, opening effect. And, as is true with the ringing of a singing bowl, a group's vibrant creativity—informed by collective wisdom—requires a sense of emptiness, a lack of attachment to preconceptions, as an organizing principle. But, oh, the vibes that play in such receptive fields of resonant relationships often ring out with a deliciousness that sings through a group's very bones. Collective wisdom—wisdom larger than one individual's insight—draws near in such moments, as if to say, "Here is a fertile field of people. Here are tenders of spirit. Let's plant this creative possibility, so needed now on earth, right here." - -- Rachel Bagby, in Shift, No. 6 Rachel was involved in the “Becoming Consciously Vibralingual” CD …. The authors tell us that Jung believed ideas lie outside the individual mind but can be discovered and rediscovered from different disciplines and different cultural backgrounds. They say: “To inhabit a world view of such shared collective knowing, we need to be able to hold in our mind a larger canvas on which to see the cumulative accomplishments of consciousness. We need to understand ourselves as a human species evolving together.” Together. Not separately. At the end, they quote Christopher Alexander: “People are deeply nourished by the process of creating wholeness.” It is indeed time we come together. That’s their last line. It IS time we come together. We're wasting precious time being fractured and fractious. Miserable and misery-makers. Angry and anxious. We’re soooo much better than that. ###### music video: So Far Away, Carole King and James Taylor -------------------- "Every [weapon developed and used] signifies, in the final sense, a theft....
