So, unlike the past when all Canon's were played by Staff, we've decided to put Aspera's most important characters up for adoption. If you would like to play a canon character, place your reservation request here, then a member of the Staff will reach out to you via PM and attempt to assist you with the canon application process. Be advised, however, that these are the visions of the staff, and though a large amount of freedom will be given to the writers adopting canons, staff reserves the right to disapprove a canon application if the character is too far outside our vision. We highly recommend that no work be put into a Canon Application until you've discussed character details with Flynn or Nimir'ra.
Also, each reservation request will only hold in place for one week's time. After that, the reservation tag will be removed, and any WIP Application will be archived. For time extensions, please PM Staff, but know that extensions will be made only for special circumstances. Thank you!
King Flynn ::
Knight |Orlando Bloom| ::PLAYED::The King of the largest and most respected of the Human kingdoms, Flynn is a caring King who cares for Whitehaven and his people before anything else. His responsibility outweighs even his personal wants and desires, a reality which resulted in Flynn giving up his one true love for the greater good of man. As such, though Flynn is kind, he is also a quiet and somber man who is empty and alone on the inside. Not even
Lady Sonea, who secretly longs for his attention, could bring a smile to the King's hardened veneer.
Lady Sonea ::
Noble |Vera Farmiga|Widow to the once great King, Reddrick of Whitehaven, Sonea serves as councilor to the new King,
Flynn. She is thoughtful woman more than anything else, though kind in her own right... but she will be the first to say that her marriage to Reddrick was out of regard for her poor family rather than love. Now, secrectly in love with the new King whom she could never have, she does her best to maintain appearances. A noble by training but a politician at heart, she has done well by herself to befriend
Sands, the Second Knight of Whitehaven and the General of the kingdom's active armies.
Ulysienne ::
Expert Swordsman |Miranda Otto|Captain of the City Guard, Ulyisenne is the finest sword fighter in all of Whitehaven, rivaling even the King. In charge of the entire city defenses, Ulysienne is relentless in her work, and has the respect of every single one of her men, as well as many of Whitehaven's grateful citizens. Though she does find herself drawn emotionally to the King's Herald,
Connor, who seems to hang around a lot... she knows that nothing could ever come of those emotions due to her lack of free time.
Sands ::
Knight |Liam Neeson|One of the finest Knights of the last Century, Sands is as wise as he is skilled with the sword. Having served as Second Knight and acting General of the Whitehaven Armies for more than two decades, no Knight is a better soldier than Sands. Having been passed up twice now for the position of First Knight, Sands will be the first to tell you that he isn’t an emotional leader that the people would look up to. He is a gritty, war-worn veteran with as many scars on his body as teeth in his mouth. Trusted by
King Flynn, even moreso than the First Knight, Sands is living an admirable life that any man would kill to have.
Connor ::
Commoner |Charlie Cox|Born in the very same village as Whitehaven’s King, Connor and the once great Knight have a long history together. Connor, having dreamed his entire life of being a knight, begged and pleaded to serve as
Flynn’s squire. Enjoying the kid’s company, Flynn took Connor under his wing. Unfortunately, it was obvious early on that Connor simply did not have the makings of a Knight within his body. He was, however, the best squire that the First Knight could have asked for. So upon gaining the crown, rather than leave Connor behind, Flynn made the young man his personal Herald. Ever since, Connor has been the face of Castle Whitehaven. No one comes or goes from the Castle without his knowledge, and Flynn only trusts him with the most important of messages that need delivering. Such deliveries were the cause for the herald initially meeting
Ulysienne, with whom Connor has fallen deeply in love with… from a distance.
Qellin Northwind ::
Sorcerer |Marton Csokas|Oldest of his kind, Qellin Northwind is the Lord over all elves, Ashlin and Crimsonwood, though some in the sister wood do not accept his rule. As wise as he is old, Qellin is a powerful Sorcerer, and quite possibly the most powerful being in all of Aspera. His peaceful heart, however, does not give any importance to power or strength. Married to
Sidra Moonsong out of duty to reunite the separated communities of elves, though he is far from his wife nearly all of the year round, he is hopelessly in love with her. Emotionless on the surface, the only other elf he would risk his standing for is
Cinn Direstone, who he has raised and mentored for nearly half a millennium.
Cinn Direstone ::
Druid |Keira Knightly|A Druid of the Land, Cinn Direstone was raised as an orphan by
Qellin Northwind, the leader of the Elves. Magically inclined from a young age, under the advice of her caretaker, Cinn joined the Temple of the Land, which is more a group of people than an actual temple… hidden deep in the recesses of the Forest. For nearly 500 years, Cinn trained her mind and body to be the finest Druid she could be, so as not to let Qellin down. In time, Cinn gained even the respect of the Elven Lord, and was chosen to serve her people as an officer in the Ashlin Army. For a Century, her service and dedication… her fierce nature in battle… has led up to her current position, which is the General of all the Ashlin Forces. The only thing that has occupied her mind outside of her training and service is a funny Bard named
Borrato Dawn, which whom she has developed feelings for, despite the common knowledge that he is a married man.
Borrato Dawn ::
Bard |Hugh Dancy|Perhaps the most well-known Elven Bard in all of Aspera, Borrato Dawn and his lute have brought many a laugh and many a smile to people all across the land. A funny Elf, a rare find indeed, Borrato is often highly frowned upon in the elven community. As such, he spends a great deal of time in Whitehaven, the only safe place for one of his kind to perform. Married to
Diella Rosehelm, Borrato has not seen his estranged wife in nearly a decade. The pair of elves decided long ago that they were simply better apart than they were together. So, when elves began to migrate toward Crimsonwood, Diella was one of the first to join. Loved by many and respected by few, Borrato often forgets that his soul is still bound to another’s… if you know what I mean.
Nyssa Grimtide ::
Courtesan |Sienna Guillory|Born into a life of privilege, Nyssa Grimtide quickly found her calling to be that of a Courtesan in Xefyra. Being a Courtesan was in her blood, having been born into a long family line of Courtesans. She never wanted to be anything else other than one, and she was never as good at anything else than she was with the art of seduction and persuasion. Quickly moving up the ranks in notoriety, she became one of the most efficient Courtesans in all of Ashin Forest, giving her standing with their leader,
Qellin Northwind. She currently resides in Whitehaven but travels to the south to keep a watchful eye on Sorcerer
Reston, and on occasion visits Crimsonwood to hold congress with
Sidra Moonsong and
Diella Rosehelm.
Sidra Moonsong ::
Priestess |Charlize Theron|Born to the High Priestess of Thea nearly seven centuries ago, Sidra was given no choice but to follow in the footsteps of her mother. For hundreds of years, Sidra lovingly served her Goddess with all of her heart, and took over as High Priestess when her mother passed of old age. When the Elves split, and a large group moved on to Crimsonwood, Thea came to Sidra in a dream, and gave her specific instructions. She was to build the High Temple of Thea in the new forest, where she would relocate along with her Priestesses. She would then marry
Qellin Northwind, and lead and protect the Elves of Crimsonwood. Though at first she loathed the idea, over many years she grew to respect and later love her husband.
Eron Blackbow ::
Expert Archer |Craig Parker|Born into a long line of Archers, it’s no surprise that even in his youth, Eron Blackbow had quickly become the best archer in all of Crimsonwood. Surpassing even the skill of his own father, whom taught him everything he knew of the bow and arrow, he became the youngest leader of the Crimsonwood Defense Forces in nearly five centuries. From the moment he laid eyes on
Nyssa Grimtide he has had an infatuation with her, but knows all too well that perhaps any feelings for her may be because of both her beauty, and her natural skill with seduction.
Diella Rosehelm ::
Rogue |Famke Janssen|Unlike her husband, who is well-known across Aspera by face and reputation, Diella’s reputation far proceeds her. In fact, few would know that she was by far the most efficient elven rogue to roam the land in over a thousand years. Quick and silent, she is rich beyond her need, and gives much of her money earned toward the Temple of Thea in Almaia, of which she is a devout follower. After living with
Borrato Dawn for five hundred years, who wouldn’t be? An advisor and trusted friend to
Sidra Moonsong, Diella hardly finds the time to practice her arts these days, but longs for the right opportunity to get out and stretch her fine legs again.
King Gallan ::
Noble |Eric Bana|One of the thousands of Avindaleans introduced to a life of slavery as a young adult, Gallan spent the last decade biding his time. Though physically strong, Gallan’s keen intellect allowed him to help lead an underground resistance from within the walls of the Gilded City. Once the Sorceress Olavenya was slain, Gallan and his upstarts roused the slaves of Avindale, and helped push the confused monster horde out of their city. The emotional leader of this evolution, Gallan was named King of Avindale, a position that no man had ever held. Now, with his sister
Winter at his side, Gallan preaches hatred toward those other communities across the land that stood aside for over a decade and watched them live as slaves.
Princess Winter ::
Physician |Natalie Dormer|Only sister to Avindale’s King
Gallan, Winter was too young to remember much life prior to her years as a slave to the enemy. A skilled Physician, or Mender as she prefers to call it, the Princess knew early on that she would be better off if she made herself an invaluable asset. Though now she no longer has a need to practice her medical prowess, Winter still enjoys being able to patch a wound or mix a concoction from time to time. Cool and calculating, Winter can be a dangerous foe as she now cares more about maintaining her and her brother’s position than she does about anything else. The only chink in her emotional armor is that she finds herself helplessly enamored by
Esos, the world’s most deadly assassin who just happened to arrive back in Avindale days after the city was freed.
Blaine ::
Knight |Kevin McKidd|The First Knight of Avindale, Blaine was also a slave within the walls of the city for over a decade. And though he was no friend of
Gallan during that time, he did spend over six years attempting to court Gallan’s sister,
Winter, who led Blaine on for her own benefit… his unsolicited protection. A skilled warrior even before the capture of their city, Blaine was more deadly on that last day of captivity than any other single human in all the land. Gallan, recognizing the benefit of having such a man on his side, quickly named Blaine his First Knight… the very first knight in the new regime. And though now Blaine continues to pursue the Princess of the kingdom he serves, he does realize that Winter is more interested in leading him on for her personal and private uses than in actually being with him. Even so, he believes that in time she will see the light.
Esos ::
Assassin |Ioan Gruffudd|Over three centuries old, Esos is the longest-lived, and most skilled Assassin in all of Aspera’s long history. Though he served the last leader of Avindale admirably, Esos’s true master for most of his life was Olavenya, the Sorceress who nearly overtook the entire land. Easily the most deadly being to have ever lived, the half-Elf was responsible for capturing and killing all six of the witches and wizards over forty years ago… a feat which no one had ever even attempted before. With his true master dead, Esos has returned to Avindale and pledged his loyalty to Gallan, whom he now serves. Almost completely emotionless, he is a mystery to everyone he meets.
Reston ::
Sorcerer |Colin Firth|A Red Sorcerer, most skilled in the Fire Element, Reston has used his gifts, which he has honed over decades of practice, to acquire large sums of money and a significant amount of power. Though he once felt at peace living a mostly simple life in Ashwarren, where he met his current (third) wife
Cassilla, once the war came to an end, he saw an impossibly fortunate opportunity in the charred remains of the city to the south, Ravenpoint. The financier for the rebuilding of the city on the Sea, Reston fully expects to be named King once the new Ravenpoint is complete. For the time being, however, he doesn’t mind settling for the role of “Man with the money who everyone answers to.”
Cassilla ::
Healer |Anita Briem|Once a simple girl in the town of Ashwarren, Cassilla discovered in her adolescence that she had the magical gifts of a Healer. Prior to learning this, she was a commoner who would have never received a second glance from a man like her Husband,
Reston. Even though she knows that the Sorcerer only married her to take advantage of having a Healer around at all times, making a non-natural Death a near-impossibility, she is glad to feel as though she is a person of importance in the world. And even though she truly harbors no love and little affection for the man, she is happy to live the lifestyle of rich wife.
Achelus ::
Fighter |Ray Stevenson|Achelus of Avindale is not your average fighter. Though well skilled in melee combat and nearly unmatchable with a two-handed sword, he is one of the few fighters that is more than just all brawn and no brains. Hired as a personal bodyguard by
Reston several years earlier, he proved his worth by saving the Sorcerer’s life not just once, but twice. His loyalty and skill has come to be irreplaceable to Reston, and Achelus has grown to be his most trusted... but for the last four years the bodyguard has been keeping his own secrets from his villainous boss. He believes in protecting his leader, and will kill a man in self defense, but Achelus is a fair man at heart. The idea of senseless murder baffles him, and any immoral act that Reston orders him to do is hardly ever carried out. All in all, Achelus is a good man ordered to do bad deeds by his corrupt leader.
Kale ::
Wizard of Simia |Heath Ledger| ::PLAYED::Once a great Knight, loyal husband, and dedicated father, Kale's life was met with great tragedy before Simia found him and made her offer. Since then, Kale has been dedicated to Simia and the people of Aspera like no other man could be. Though he now attempts to lead a mostly simple life, he will not shy away from his responsibilities to the people of Aspera, even beyond the wishes of his God. Kale likes all of the other Wizards and Witches, despite whoever they may feel for him, and is at the least Civil with all of them, even
Nimir'ra who he can't find the heart to respect. Though there is something between he and the Witch
Sara, he does not know if his heart will open up for another... not yet.
Trevalinde ::
Witch of Thea |Claire Danes|Thea’s Witch, Trevalinde, was born into a life of servitude to the Priestesses of the Moon Temple in Almaia, and ultimately was granted with the gift of becoming Thea’s Witch. Most notably, the elf believes that Women are the supreme “species” in all of Aspera, has a very short temper when dealing with men, and only displays the abilities given to her by Thea to prove in fact that women are the superior race. She gets along with the other Witches, but has a keen dislike, and is quick to argue with the Wizards. It’s common knowledge to everyone but
Nimir’ra, that she is in love with the Witch of Cordak, God of the Underworld, whom she is often seen with, and is quick to defend her against the other Wizards and Witches.
Morgan ::
Wizard of Neamus |Garrett Hedlund|Morgan, the Elven Wizard of the Ocean God, is the most willing to help those in need, but when on his bad side, he is the most likely to lash out at those who are weaker than he is. He has been hopelessly in love with
Trevalinde since they first met, despite her rudeness toward him and the other Wizards. Morgan, more than the others, feels the most camaraderie toward the group, and is the first to defend all of their motives to be just (even
Nimir’ra’s). Although he doesn’t hide his identity to other Asperans, he doesn’t go out of his way to reveal himself either. He is considered the “prankster” of the bunch, quite often playing practical jokes on all the Wizards, and anybody who is caught in the crossfire.
Sara ::
Witch of Oshon |Rose Byrne| It is rumored that Sara and
Kale have a relationship, but the extent of this is unknown. Possibly the most soft-spoken and kind of all the Wizards of the Gods, like many elves she is a pacifist. Sara wishes to lead a humble and quiet life, tending to her farm, and has, on occasion, asked Kale to help her out with tasks that her God has bestowed upon her. She enjoys the company of most of the Witches and Wizards apart from
Nimir’ra, whom she feels is far too deceitful to befriend. She wishes to keep her identity unknown from the general populous, but enjoys the company of the other Wizard’s from time to time, most obviously being the company of Simia’s Wizard, Kale.
Jarem ::
Wizard of Islanna |Ian McKellen| ::PLAYED::Despite Islanna being the most childish of all the Gods, Jarem, her Wizard, is the most reserved and mature of the bunch. The oldest of all the Wizards, Jarem is the most responsible and compliant toward the wishes and commands of his God. Even without the leadership of Islanna, Jarem comes across as man who would do the right thing for all of Aspera by choice rather than by request. Although mature and responsible, he has his playful side, and has been known to play along with
Morgan’s practical jokes from time to time. He is the first to be comical and make a joke, but is also the first to suggest ideas that suit the greater good for all of Aspera and the Gods.
Nimir'ra ::
Witch of Cordak |Megan Fox| ::PLAYED::Nimir’ra is one of the more well-known of the God’s servants. She’s wealthy and revered among the masses, and has no problem instilling fear in anyone. Not known for her generosity, most people leave her alone when she passes through a town. She is, however, more than willing to sell her abilities to those with the highest bid. Although
Trevalinde doesn’t always approve of her actions, the two are considered the best of friends. That is, Nimir’ra doesn’t seem to mind Trevalinde’s company, but it is quite apparent, the other Witches and Wizards “get under her skin.” The black sheep of the bunch by default, the only one she seems to respect at all, apart from Trevalinde, is
Kale. But that is probably because her God respects Simia, and so she must as well.
