Here at the Doom Armory we have a few express rules that EVERYBODY must follow...they are arranged into three categories, as follows.

GUIDELINES - More or less judgmental rules, no punishments are administered for these but your post may be edited to remove offenses if they are bad enough.
MINOR RULES - Punishments for these usually start with a warning, but can escalate to post-queues, temp-bans, or permanent bans.
MAJOR RULES - Break these, and you WILL be banned.

Guidelines:
* Try not to post large images - I mean "large" as in both the dimensions of the image (no images wider than 640 pixels, please), and the file-size (if it's above 100K, it darn well better be worth it - ie. your own comics or something.) If you MUST post a large image, make a URL link to it - DO NOT just use IMG tags.
* On the note of the above, don't use BMP images. They are bulky. If you must post things without compression loss, use the PNG or GIF formats. If you need a converter, use Irfanview (at www.irfanview.com)
* Signatures should not be too long. I don't have a strict limit on signature sizes (ie. one that is enforced by the forum software), but I will edit/delete your sig if it is too long or contains an image that breaks the above guideline.
* Keep the swearing to a minimum if you can help it. I won't edit these unless they're just long strings of F-words or things that are otherwise obnoxious.
* If you can, try to speak proper English. I understand that some people do not speak English as a first language, and that is okay. What I mean by this is that you should not post in bizarre dialects of this language - if your message looks like "Peace out dawg foo gangsta yo! Down street the flip-flop time pants!", not everybody will be able to read this.
* Remember to post in the correct forum. If you're asking for help on DDF language, and end up posting in the Resource Pool, you're going to have your thread moved by the admins.
* If you suspect somebody has broken the rules, don't just post and heckle them about it (OMG U R GETTING BUSTED LOLOL!). Use that shiny "Report To Mods" button beneath the offending post. This will bring up a dialog where you can explain what you think is wrong with the post, and (potentially) a suggestion on what should be done about it.
* Don't just use Report To Mods to communicate with me. There is always the Private Messaging system, or if you're on Mod Queue and are unable to use PM's, the email system.
* Be patient! If you just can't wait for a hot new mod to come out, don't repeatedly spam the journal thread and ask "Hey! What's going on with the mod?" Likewise, if you're waiting for somebody to help you out, give it a couple of days while waiting for someone to help, instead of waiting a few hours and saying "Lot of good YOU are, you don't even help people around here!"

Minor Rules:
* Please don't plagiarize other people's work. It's okay if you credit them for it (like, for example, if you were to take a weapon sprite from ScubaSteve), but outright plagiarism (OMG I MADE THIS FLAME CANNON & SCUBASTEVE STOLE IT FROM ME) is not allowed. You will be warned only ONCE for this.
* No spamming in the regular forums. If you must spam, use the "Under The Bridge" forum - there is no post-count increment for this forum. Spamming in other forums will get your thread moved, and a warning.
* No obnoxious posts, including long, unbroken strings of LOLs, AOL-speak, or Leet-speak.
* No flaming in any way, shape, or form. If somebody's opinion differs from yours, and you must tell them about it, back your thoughts up with reasonable fact and speak in a civil tone. Unwarranted personal attacks on any members of this forum (and other forums, to some extent) are not tolerated.
* Political debate and religious discussion belongs in Off Beat Discussion. Keep it clean, or the thread goes bye-bye.
* NO "screamers" or shock sites under any circumstances without warning the reader first! For more information, look up the respective articles at WikiPedia (www.wikipedia.org).

Major Rules:
* No warez, or links to Warez/Crackz sites. No, not even Underdogs and other abandonware sites.
* No objectionable (ie. sexual in nature, or graphically violent aside from video game screenshots) images.
* No objectionable avatars - these will be deleted on sight, and further offenses will result in a permanent BAN.
* No racist, sexist, or otherwise discriminating posts. Your posts will be put on moderator queue.

Special Case Major Rules (these will result in an immediate permanent ban, regardless of the context):
* Don't try and hack the forums, whether it be for password retrieval or unlawful gaining of moderator access.
* If you're banned, that's that. If you try and register a new account, not only will you be banned, but I will hunt you down and eat all your children. (I was joking about the last part, but the ban still applies!)
