Game on Llamaserver

Description

This is a roleplaying game. You are expected to roleplay to some extent in interaction in game and on these forums (exception can be made of course, for example when asking for delay)- More details on this below.

This is a “limited diplomacy” game. Only communication allowed between players are old fashioned messengers. These take a full month of travel to
reach other nations (only in game messages!).

You can also communicate magically – but then other mages can listen in – you then need to use this thread for communication if in a hurry.

Slow secrecy or expedient openness?

I will play a mod nation, Burning Forest, and GFSnl will play The Malazan Empire (my mod nation). So, this game is also a test of these nations in MP.

Also, players should otherwise regard this as a relaxed game where the goal is to have fun (winning is fun, of course..).

General information
Type - llamaserver PBEM (Play By EMail)
Schedule - 1st turn 48h, then 24h for turns 2-15. 48h from then on. 72h when at least one player want this.
Players – 8
Nation Selection - First come first served (no banned nations, let the players balance the game by diplomacy if they fear specific nations).

Other mod nations could be allowed if they are considered balanced.

Game Settings
Age - Middle
Independent Strength - 7
Research - Standard
Magic Sites - Default (will not change, I want this reasonably poor!)
Money - Default
Resources - Default
Supplies - Default
Random Events- Common
Re-naming - On
Score Graphs - On
Hall Of Fame - 15

Mods - CBM 1.92

Map – not decided yet - but smallish - 10-15 province per player.

Victory Conditions - Hold 50% of capitals for 3 consecutive turns. Must be claimed and then checked by a non-player.

General Rules
- The usual ones, bogus rules, overfilling labs, etc.
- Diplomacy is not binding, and players are encouraged to see honor as well as treachery as part of the game, and not a personal issue outside of the game.

Special rules
- Diplomacy/communication can only be held in two ways: In game messages and in the forum thread. This is of course a gentleman’s agreement, as there is no way to check private messages between cheating players.

- All communication must be roleplayed. This means staying in character and not using text language and so on. You do not need to be a rpg guru or a literary genius, just help create an atmosphere! Note: This also applies to forum replies to the thread.

- Your god must be introduced in the thread (you can be secret about type of god and so on) in a way that gives the other players a sense/idea of
the god’s personality and goals for the world.

- Your prophet is considered the “King” of the nation. He must also be introduced in the thread, and he must have leadership (no lowly scout kings!). Events concerning your king prophet are encouraged to be shared in the game thread (especially death and/or heroic feats or the appointment of a new king/prophet).

- National heroes are encouraged to be introduced in the same way.

- When signing up, do write either "slight" or "tragic" in your post, so that we know you've read the rules..

Whoot!

Role Playing Game. I Like smile.gif

I know nothing 'bout the Malazan Empire of the books though. But this doesn't matter as that are all lies and propaganda. This is where the true story of Malazan ascendancy is told.

Or does it become slightly tragic ?!? wink.gif

On second thought, give me Sylvania, Vampire Counts. Altdorf seems to much to handle.

Ulm: Order of the Black Rose if possible. (Otherwise I'll sit out, i have enough games, but it'd be nice to play my own mod nation once).

I want to make some fixes before the game launches. I'll link the current version when its ready.

You made a slight mistake when signing up. Tragic lapse in memory or reading slightly too fast?

Slighted we are!

(Black Rose is fine!)

Unlike Executor, my main fear is that my nation will be tragically slight rather than slightly tragic, but such is life - we must all learn to master our fears!

I would like to try Myconos again - I'm currently playing this mod nation of GFSnl in another game, but feel like I've got a much better handle on some of the things you can do with Myconos and would like to give it another whirl.

All,

We will play with 6 or 7 players if no additional player joins the next day or so. Map suggestions are welcome. I like pretty maps.

85-120 provinces (aiming for about 100 for 7 players)

Thanks for the invite and the game type definitely interests me- i really like RP aspects to Dominions but
1) the schedule is too fast
2) i am not interested in any more MA games right now - it seems like the only thing i play.

If you decide to launch another game of this type (diplo, RP), in another age with a slightly more relaxed schedule, please send me an invite.

I might very well arrange a game like that some time later on!

How would you like the schedule? I am quite keen to allow postponements, and I hope the limited diplomacy will mean less intensive (and less time spent on) diplomacy, easing the schedule.

The MA aspect I can understand - a bit or variation is needed sometimes - this time we need to go MA since the mod nations are in that age.

Wouldn't all the mod nations mean variation enough for you, though? Play one yourself!

Still hoping to get you on board in this game. smile.gif

I'm the only one NOT playing a mod nation? I'm beginning to think I should rethink, or feel tragically...old...predictable...
